PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale - Rayman?

Sorry to butt in with such a negative note, and to note I haven't really read any posts in the topic so far, so maybe there is someone else here who agrees with me, but I know what the deal with tihs is thanks to hundreds of dA journals, but am I the only one who doesn't want rayman to appear in this game?
I mean, not that I think it wwould be a bad thing,, and it might be jealousy and the fact that I don't own a PS3 or Vita or that Origins left a sour taste in my mouth, but here's the thing. Rayman is not a playstation all-star, he's a console neutral character, and he of course started out on Jaguar and PC.

Also, I'm going to get a lot negative replies to what I'm about to say, but to me, I think that the Rayman series is dead, it died with the first rabbids game, and despite how good most of you thought origin's was, you can't bring a series back to life, good god you can try, but you're more or less likely going to fail (see Transformers & Banjo-Kazooie for good examples of this) there are few times were bringing a franchise back to life has actually worked (Metroid with Metroid Prime, and more recently Sonic with Generations) anyway, even if I didn't think that Rayman was a dead series, this would certainly make that a reality, because to me, there are three places were franchises go to die, Zombie games, Kart racing games (hell, raymans already been there) and crossover games, this is a crossover game.

Anyway, thats just my view of it, I'll let you guys get on with getting your hopes up high only to crash and burn

Neither is Lara Croft [Tomb Raider 1 was on the Sega Saturn and I think PC], but that doesn't stop her from being listed on that poll as a third party character.

While Rayman started in Jaguar, and an year later in PC, the series managed to get much more popular thanks to the PlayStation consoles, especially the first one. I can thank Sony for creating the PlayStation One because otherwise I probably wouldn't have met Rayman, or I would met him much later.

I'll remind it was just a symbian game, not a console/PC game fortuneately. It is nothing quite important.

You can reflect about that, but I can tell you I didn't have a PS3 until very recently, and if it wasn't my luck in the Ubisoft art contest I would probably not have a PS3 now or ever. I can thank them for opening a chance for me of getting the console.

This counts for me aswell. Although my reason was that I needed a console to play Origins on. Despite the fact that there is a PC version now, I don't regret buying that Playstation 3 one single bit.

Edit: Tell you what: If Rayman makes it on the confirmed list, I'm totally making fan art to celebrate the occasion.

There is no nice way to say this: you sound bitter and selfish. Speaking of which, I was similarly opposed to the idea of Rayman appearing in Brawl back when those rumours were circulating. I can see now that this was a stupid perspective, arising from my own dislike for Nintendo’s influence on the series (they were responsible for the cancellation of Rayman 4, after all). Since then I’ve come to realise that our personal situations are irrelevant: the series is what matters.

Rayman was the most successful PlayStation game ever released in the United Kingdom.

While Rayman started in Jaguar, and an year later in PC, the series managed to get much more popular thanks to the PlayStation consoles, especially the first one. I can thank Sony for creating the PlayStation One because otherwise I probably wouldn't have met Rayman, or I would met him much later.

one quick history lesson, innitially, the ps1 was team effort between sony, and surprisingly, nintendo, and it was going to be released as a add-on to the SNES, the console Rayman 1 was originally going to appear on, but the deal fell through and sony released the playstation on their own, whilst nintendo made a simmilar deal with philips who made and released the CD-i, and we all know how that went... Mah boi.

anyway, back on topic, look at it from this perspective, for the majority, the worst versions of rayman games have appeared on sony consoles, Rayman 1 and RO being exception (and Revolution, that was a remake, of course it was going to be better) but ayman 2 on the ps1 was different from every other version, and it also had terrible voice acting, missing and largely worse level, a more simplistic and easy final boss, etc. and rayman 3, while beinmg mostly the same game, was slightly worse, but still the worst version of the game to get, the graphics were worst, and of course it didn't have the bonuses the gamecube version had. As I said, only slightly worse but still, doesn't mean to say that its not the wosrt vversion because it deffinitely is.

Okay, another off topic nitpick here, thats more to do with our (fine) community, but when the art contest was on I was spending most of my time on dA, and didn't hear about the contest until it was over... WHY WASN'T I F***ING INFORMED SOONER?!?!?!?! *rage fit over* considering how a few of you knew I was on dA at the time and even watched me, even if I didn't win, I still would of have enjoyed entering it! anyway, thats off topic, its in the past, Those who did enter and did win did a fine job, and no-one really gives a sh*t.

Can't really say for god of war, sly, LBP or Killzone, but smash Bros and mario kart don't really count, considering mario essetially invented kart games, which sadly makes them immune (I don't really like mario kart, and I think they're all overrated games that while have solid gameplay for the most part, just aren't all that fun, then again I don't play much multiplayer when I do play mario kart, and 'thats were the real fun is') and as for SSB, its a crossover game were, for the most part at least, Brawl buggered things up a bit, were all the characters in it are owned by the company making the game, I'm reffering to crossover games that the company making the games did not initaliy create the majority of ip's used or at least don't permanently own the liscence to the games/ franchise e.g. Mortal Kombat and D.C. Universe or whatever it was called.

Who gives a shit? Seriously. These are ancient, forgotten, irrelevant minor quibbles about which 99.99% of players couldn’t care less.

Re-read what you just wrote. You’re propping up your arguments with completely arbitrary rules that you’re making up as you go along. Who decided that the aforementioned Nintendo franchises were ‘immune’ to the silly rules you invented? Why should the identity of the company owning the rights to a property which is being licensed for use in a crossover determine whether a franchise is ‘dead’, and what gives you the authority to make such judgements?

I can’t handle this: my brain is growing dehydrated from an overdose of illogic. But by all means, keep digging.

Since when the Rayman series are dead? Rayman Legends is enough to proove you this isn't the case. Just because it's a 2D game, it isn't worth the others?
OK, Rayman appeared in many consoles, but it's the same story for Lara, Goku, and Sora. Who cares?

Also, I'm having difficulties to choose between a PS3 or a Wii U, but if Rayman is confirmed in this game, without any doubts I'll get the PS3.

Indeed, I know the story turned around the SNES. This wasn't a history lesson, sorry; I have a real one tomorrow in the morning at school.

because you are being stupid with arguments that can't be picked. Actually the worst Rayman games I've played were in symbian platforms and in recent Nintendo portable consoles.

I can agree that the voice act is quite poor compared with Rayman Revolution, but the English voice cast isn't the best one for me both in the PS1 and PS2 versions, but yes the French one. I can make sure I love to play both games in French language.

The game can be shorter than the other versions (I can finish it in 3 hours instead of 4 in classical R2 versions) but I find it still quite enjoyable, not to mention there are interesting differences (Prototype R2, anyone?) and level modifications (The Sanctuary of Stone and Fire is the best example).

Razorbeard is way harder to beat in PS1 version, and it takes longer too. I can make sure of that since in the classical R2 I can beat Razorbeard in less than 5 minutes if I do not count cutscenes.

No, its not that, its dead to me, maybe not to everyone else, but to me, the series is dead. and also, in case you didn't know, in my opinion, I hated origins, I didn't like it. I don't think legends will be much better.

With Lara you have a point. but...
1. Goku (if I'm correct) started out as a character in a n mang, if not that then animé, so therefore he technicaly isn't a videogame character.
2. Sora was a character in a game that started off as a playstation series, and even though there have been more kingdom hearts games on nintend consoles than sony ones, all the nintendo ones are just spin-offs (with the exceptions of Re:coded and the upcoming dream drop distance, I don't know wether to put Chain of memories on here seeing as it was eventually remade and re-released on ps2) wereas the sony ones are main games, so he can be called a playstation all-star

the first version of R2 I owned was the PS1 version, I was four at the time, maning it was 2001, I beat Razor on my first try. the first time I played the more common version of R2, I was 8 (I think) it took me quite a few times to beat him, I think I even saw that try again screen a few times, its skill and opinion based so neither of us is right with this i suppose.

New subject! Which Rayman levels would you most like to see included in PlayStation All-Stars? My favourite locations in the series are probably Band Land, Picture City and the Hall of Doors, none of which were revisited in subsequent Rayman games. I’d love to see any of them combined with Crash Bandicoot or Spyro the Dragon elements, which would fit pretty well into Rayman’s world, though the God of War/Patapon fusion makes me think Sony might prefer the effect of combining radically different games.

i wasn't playing the suicide card (as you put it) to get sympathy, I was merely using the fact I've been suicidal recently to show how much of a bad mood I've been in recently.

Oh, your ideas are nice! Me I was mostly thinking about a Rayman 2 based background, with a kind of mix of the Glade+pirate ships. I think it would give a nice touch. Though, now that you say they prefer to do mixes between different games, I agree with the fact Rayman, Crash and Spyro's worlds would make a great mix. ^^

The Hall of Doors would be quite interesting, and I think it would suit as a battlefield due to its mystery and magic.

I would like to see a battlefield based up in Rayman 2, a war sceneary of the Robo-Pirates like wooden structures burning, flying cannon balls, maybe some Henchmen in the background and flying warships. I think it would be very cool.

What if we could battle also in the Destiny Arena of the Knaaren? The scenario changing time to time, making the lava pool appearing and other things?

The possibilities are many!

The Robo-Pirate Warships are good interactive background elements with the potential to be visually impressive, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see them invading the universe of another game. It’d be great fun to see them in the skies above the Wumpa Islands (Crash Bandicoot) or Gallowmere (MediEvil).

Edit: Come to think of it, the Hall of Doors is full of holograms. The developers could take that idea and run with it.

Makes sense, since the different aspects of each environment stand out more that way.

I think it's definetly more-so the poll that matters now rather then the likes on the picture I'd say, might have to update my video description to provide a link for that, but rayman is nearly at 100 votes in the polls guys! Keep going at it!

Edit: Well yeah... the Crash fanbase, I think it's more-so the crash fans on youtube I'm talking about, quite sorry for that. Then again a lot of youtube is filled with weird people.

Anyways, think about it... if we get Rayman voted, IT WILL BE BECAUSE OF US!

Some stages I would like to see is Band Land, perhaps the Canopy, having some pirate ships in the background shooting at you (Similar to meta knights stage on brawl) and perhaps the DoTK somewhere in there.
