Actually I played it... it's pretty cool. It's even funnier than Angry Birds in my opinion .-.

I'll consider buying the thing if it has endless mode.

Anybody wants to take a guess what skills from RO will be available? Hovering would make sense, dash attack is shown, but they could add a few things. Normal air attack, fall attack, falling of the rope, and maybe shrinking as it doesn't use any controls would be implementable, I guess.

Sprinting is forced in this game, you can't stop. I guess the only attacks you can do are jump, punch, wall run and.... maybe glide? or change size?

New interview with Michel Ancel that shows some gameplay from Rayman Jungle Run: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xtcuxw ... videogames

Some other news from the interview:
  • He still wants to release the UbiArt Framework
  • He's been thinking about a game a la LittleBigPlanet (a new Rayman Designer with more possibilities? One can only hope.) which he may release alongside the Framework if he makes it. This is to stimulate people into being creative.
  • There will be some Rayman Legends info very soon, and from the looks of it it will be about interaction with the terrain with the Wii U Gamepad. He was talking about destroying/digging into terrain as well like in Dig Dug. Cool.
  • He wants Beyond Good & Evil 2 to be very dynamic in the sense that you'll have more freedom in your investigations.
  • He's doesn't know if he can put BG&E2 on the Wii U as well, as he doesn't have enough experience with 3D on the console. He doesn't know whether it's doable or not. He's going for the "real" next-gen consoles (if I understood that right).

Thanks for sharing that Droolie! Apparently from what Ancel says, there are more news about RL coming quite soon! :D

It reminds me, I start to wonder if Rayman Jungle Run is Ubisoft's solution for the canceling of the Rayman Origins game. If you remind, it was initally planned for iPad, but its gameplay kind didn't allow a good control for the device; I believe this is nothing more nothing less other than an (big) adapation of RO under different mechanics but keeping the RO art style.

I agree, it does appear to be a smartphone friendly adaptation of RO, so much so that many people on YouTube have mistaken it for a port of RO.
Which is kindof funny.
And we already know that they were considering an iDevice version of RO initially, so they perhaps had the engine ready for such a game already.

Giving the player some freedom in how they approach individual tasks won't necessarily impact the plot in any significant way.

I just watched that part again and it looks like I misinterpreted it. He mentions something about "creating your own story" (which is why I was disappointed) but it turns out that he meant what you say. Now that's a relief.

Even so, different plots usually indicate that it's an interesting game. As a player, you'll want to replay the game over and over just to see how many paths you can make it take.

That's true, but I kind of dislike different plots as experience teaches me there is usually one "real" plot that is by far better written and more thought through than the rest of the paths you can take. Of course it would be great to see if they manage to make them equally interesting, but I have never seen that pulled off before. :/

So... when is Jungle Run being released?

EDIT: Nevermind, it says at the end of the trailer.

The following information comes from an interview with Ubisoft's Michel Ancel...

- believes Nintendo has a tough job ahead explaining to Wii U
- feels that people need to play it to get it
- for him, Wii U is a core gamer concept
- allows for core gamer concepts to continue existing, but allows devs to build on them
- the decisions this leaves for developers may seem problematic at first, but actually leads to value
- on Rayman Legends, the GamePad player will be able to litteraly dig into the scenery
- finds asymmetric gameplay great
- Wii U has an enormous amount of memory
- almost no limitations in terms of memory
- this is very well suited to 2D games
- finds the Wii U a surprising machine
- can display full HD on the main screen while streaming a different image at 800X480 on the GamePad
- this is while keeping a 60 i/s framerate.
- also loves how Wii U opens up LAN possibilities
- not a traditional next-gen system in terms of a graphical leap, as Nintendo has chosen a different direction
- not sure yet if Wii U can handle his vision of Beyond Good and Evil 2
I agree with Michel in every sense... Wii U is not a gimmick, it's just a different experience, but it's so difficult to explain that it looks like a gimmick.

Maybe there are chances of going to the PS4? It is rumoured to have 4K resolution.

About the poll, I don't know if I want to buy a Wii U yet. I would like to see its full specifications and know what experiences other players have with it. Maybe even then I might still not be sure about it. I don't play many nintendo games and the console will probably have a shitton of those again.

And since I'm really enjoying my PS3, I'm more curious about PS4, right now.

I think it is more probable for me to get a port of RL than the original game for the Wii U itself. It does is difficult at the moment. Well, there are PS3 games I'm interested, but I've been always wondering if I should have saved for the Wii U instead.

 What does that even mean?! Super-epic uber HD?

Wasn't PS3's Blu-Ray technology what inspired the leap onto the HD format that's now so common in households and even the simplest of YouTube vids?

It's probably a myth, because isn't that just unnecessary? It takes a shitload of power to render things at that resolution, when they could just leave it at 1080p and run triple the FPS. Besides, 1080p is fine as it is, especially for console gamers. Besides, only people with very expensive TVs could run it.

Maybe, but it's just logic. 3840x2160 is a freaking huge resolution, and with that in mind, they would have to optimise every single game developed for that console to run at a minimum of 40 FPS at that resolution, just for the small percentage of people who own a 56" TV. It's a total waste of power, because they could instead be using said power to add far, far, far, far, far more to the actual graphics of the game. On the flipside of that, if they want to compensate by seriously and massively upgrading the hardware to something far beyond a high-end gamer PC, then they'd be blowing a tonne of money on hardware alone, when all this could just be solved by not running at 3840x2160.

If a PS3 were to run at that resolution, it wouldn't be playing much more than Halo: Combat Evolved.

I think that resolution could be in PS5 for example, when TV's with that resolutions will be cheaper....But when it will be released and if it would be?
Simply PS4 should has got stronger components and games which could use it's possilibites.
