Oh, yeah, that image for haloween. It'll be creepy indeed, I hated those enemies in the Knaaren desert, back in Rayman 3... I hated them more in this game than in rayman 2.
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Do you think Grove of Glass Leaves is a good name for Glassdrop Grove: Brawly? I didn't want to name the recording Brawly.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
I'll be renaming those all something else, but no, I don't like that name very much, it's just an expanded way of saying "Glassdrop Grove." I could make a play on words however and call it "Glassdrop Grave" or something of the sort.

If the Zombie Chickens from RoTD could exceed that, I would be most impressed.

Has my post been forgotten or are you just not interested? If This sounds impatient I apologize, that is not my intention. If you don't want to know about it that is fine with me. Also I apologize to Shrooblord if this post makes me sound insecure.

Listen, it's not that I get angry at you for being insecure - I was merely trying to give you the courage to post more without having fear of being scorned, for that is not what would ever happen. Relax, man. Chilllllll.
EDIT:
Adsolution, don't know if this would help you in any form, since you've been rigging for a long time already, but this is the start of a whole series of rigging tutorial video's by the people at 3DSMax:
They also go into FK, IK and a lot of things I don't, but you probably already do, know about. There might be something useful in there - there's about 18 video's solely on the rigging, so one of them might be worth checking out. I don't know. I'm about to watch it from the start (which also starts with bones) to get back into 3DSMax, and I thought you might enjoy a few of them too.
EDIT II:
Well, I managed to solve the problem I had with that rig I tried to send you. I'll probably never know what was causing it, but the solution was to delete the Skin modifier and delete the CATrig altogether, to then import an exact replica from a preset I'd saved before and reskinning entirely. What a drag... and how strange.
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
I have a few questions about the soundtrack. First which track is the redone Dream Forest track from part 8? Secondly is there any particular order you plan to redo these tracks? Also will there be any redone tracks in the next few soundtrack parts? I'm asking that because ever since I read the list I have been eager about the redone tracks. Lastly which tracks would you consider character themes? I am sorry if you are bothered by these questions. If you are than I promise I won't ask any more for the next week.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
@Shrooblord: Interesting, but I don't need it so much. It's good that there's finally a detailed, coherent rigging tutorial now though for others.
@R3fan2:
Yes, the next soundtrack part or two will largely consist of remakes. The remake of the Dream Forest track in Part 8 is the first track in Part 27.

I got a whole new appreciation for bones after this tutorial, though I have given CATrig another chance and started rerigging my Stalkbot with another set of CAT bones.
EDIT:
Oh, yeah. I took this screenshot in R2 once and thought you might like it; you can see how Ubi Soft did his hair here.

Nothing special, but thought you might like to see anyway.

Hah, so his hair is detached! From afar (normal camera distance) it always looked like it was part of the same mesh as his head.
Also, are you really sure about using CAT rigs? In my opinion, it's way better to just create your own rig. It doesn't take very long.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
As I'm still experimenting with this whole 3D thing, I thought I'd use something that a professional user had encouraged me to use. Look at this post that I received on an animation forum:Adsolution wrote:Also, are you really sure about using CAT rigs? In my opinion, it's way better to just create your own rig. So I thought I'd take his advice. Now I haven't done anything with the rig yet; I've only tried setting it up and make it do a basic walking animation. Once I try to make it work in the engine, or even in animation, I'll find out whether I'm pleased with the CAT system or not. Now I've seen what bones can do by watching those tutorials, I know the two sides of it. A lot of me is leaning towards bones now, but since I was already using CAT, I'm inclined to at least try it out once before moving on to something else.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
The professional's advice is definitely very good advice to follow.
But the reason I stay away from CAT rigs is because it feels like they restrict what you can do, and it over-complicates something so simple. Animation really doesn't need a 'system.' Saving/loading poses could be as simple as duplicating keyframes with SHIFT+DRAG, and that's about the only thing I can think of that even has a point to having in a 'system.'

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
That's true, but whereas keyframes are bone and model-specific, the CAT system could be applied to any model, in general. If you have an animation that's fine as it is and you want to just transport that to a different model with a roughly similar - but in the end slightly different - bone model, you could do that with CAT. You export the animation and import it with the new bone rig and you'll be almost sure that it'll turn out right; perhaps you need to tweak it a bit here and there. This is one of the neat features of the saving/loading aspect of CAT.Adsolution wrote:But the reason I stay away from CAT rigs is because it feels like they restrict what you can do, and it over-complicates something so simple. Or am I mistaken? Can bones also achieve this?
You're right about the restrictions though. I've seen things that you're able to do with bones that I wish were able in CATrigs.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
You can do this with bones as well. I've never done it so I'm not sure how, but it's possible. It's even easier to do though if you're doing it with a game engine though, since you just need to have the bones named the same in a model, and the animation file will carry over.
