Ok... I guess this topic should absorb the Wreck-it Ralph one? by the way, I already watched the movie, it's heartwarming, I loved it. I'm highly surprised by the fact that it DOES have a plot, and that it doesn't turn the videogame jokes into a gimmick. I almost cried 4 times (man tears ), seriously... the movie is surprisingly touching.

One doesn't simply compare Disney Animation Studios with Disney Channel.

Gravity Falls is the only thing now that has the potential to save Disney Channel and encourage people to start coming up with new and original animated TV shows for the channel. Though I don't think this show is amazingly perfect, but it's much better than the live action sitcom diarrhea.

I've watched it. Meh, as Ad said before, it was the basis for Toy Story. But... I don't like, there's no way I would like that movie. It's too...cheesy. I respect the fact that it's surrealistic but sometimes I just find it ridiculous and not interesting at all.

Back to the other topic, no, Disney Channel will never be the same as Disney Animation Studios. The only Disney Channel-y movie I can identify is Bolt. Oh god that Miley Cyrus. AND THAT AWFUL PLOT. Tangled was superb, and so Wreck-it Ralph was.

By the way, did anyone have the chance to watch Paperman? I didn't. It's that Disney shortfilm in black and white and with a mix of 2D and 3D

I sure miss good ol disney cartoons which aired,like Darkwing Duck. Now bunch sitcomedies that tries to be comedies.

Seriously, am I the only one that thinks that pixar nowadays is overrated just for being pixar and that Disney Animation Studios has done a better job during the last years?

I mean... Tangled was beautiful, it was superb, an excellent movie that actually brought me back to my childhood... and Cars 2 was just plain awful, with humour that I would expect from a Dreamworks movie like Shrek or Madagascar. In the other hand we have Pixar's most recent film, Brave, and the short film The Moon. Brave was great, it had some good moments and excellent hair animation...but... it's not the best of pixar, and the plot it's nothing new. I think The Moon is overvalued, a simple and not so imaginative story with a bland and overused message, it's not bad... but it didn't give me the feels that pixar usually gives me. In Disney Animation Studios' side we have Paperman and Wreck-it Ralph (I found Paperman online! how lucky I am!!...awful quality but who cares, I had the opportunity to appreciate the most important details).

No pun intended but... Wreck-it Ralph and Paperman totally wreck Brave and The Moon. The character development and the story in Wreck-it Ralph it's incredibly well done, the script is hilarious and it has some amazing moments, most of the movie is heartwarming and a total tear dropper, and most importantly, it doesn't overuse videogame jokes, they're just there for the setting and to give some good realism. Oh man... Paperman was beautiful. Words can't even explain it... it's... it's like disney is totally prepared to do another Fantasia movie. The mixture between Minimalism, Surrealism and old black and white movies is just delicious.

I didn't think Tangled was amazing. Good? Yes, great? Maybe, amazing? No. It had a lot of great moments, especially toward the end, but I think Flynn kin of ruined the movie. He was far too slapstickish, and it made the good dramatic parts feel out of place.

Tangled was an okay movie indeed, we watched it on a school trip. It was alright, some moments were funny, some moments were epic. I've read about the movie on TV Tropes a day before. I can't say it's all that perfect, but it was good. So I agree with AIDSolution.

Matter of tastes, no problem. Did you watch Wreck-it Ralph? I'm very, VERY interested in your opinion, as you seemed to have pretty low expectatives about it the last time I mentioned it.

I actually just watched Tangled recently, 8/10 from me, some nice humor and a plot that actually felt Disney like. Bolt was actually an alright 3D animated movie a few years back too. Also regarding TBLT i grew up with the film so maybe Ive just got too much hot, steamy, childhood love ( no peado) towards it, it is very weird and even sometimes disturbing but I love the story, characters and music. Still need to check out the princess and the frog though in terms of new Disney, i also totally forgot to see brave! In my opinion Pixar was at its best from Toy Story- the Incredibles. Ratatouille, Up and Wall-E were great but there was something about their earlier projects that the new ones seem to lack (bar toy Story 3) Cant tell if Monsters university is gonna hold up well, i would have preferred a sequel rather than a prequel to be honest.

I love old Disney movies and some TV series, like Quack Pack (I really like Disney's duck universe) and Goof Troop. Talking about movies, I adore Dinosaur, Tarzan, The Lion King, Lilo & Stitch, Emperor's New Groove and, my favorite ones, Mulan, Brother Bear and Pocahontas. Most part of the eldest movies are fine, but too... maybe, monotone?
I like also Pixar's Toy Story, Cars, Finding Nemo, A Bug's Life, Ratatouille, WALL-E and Up. Last one is a bit more boring than others of course but I liked it, can't say that it is bad movie.
Anything on Disney Channel now seems boring, but I'm interested in watching new movies.

Ehh, I just remember that I really want to watch The Three Caballeros. Has anyone seen it?

I think Monsters University is gonna suck balls incredibly bad.... the trailer suggests that it will have Cars-like humour.

I mean just do the math:

(Monsters Inc) - (Boo, the adorable appeal of the movie and the actual reason for a plot) + (A bunch of stereotyped teenager douchebag monsters)= chaos

I mean, why is even a prequel necessary? We have questions, but we don't need that kind of answers, I'm pretty sure nobody gives two shits about Sulley and Mike's backstories. I enjoyed Monsters Inc a lot, but I think the heart of the movie was Boo, most of the times when Mike and Sulley were alone, well, it felt awkward for me, like nothing really interesting happened, just regular coworkers, nothing amusing about their personalities.

As far as I know, Sulley is a "Uh... Ok, whatever" and Mike is a "Damn, I'm so handsome".

The Three Caballeros is... interesting, but not the best way to learn about latin american culture. It has some good animation, but you'll get bored soon. It's like an extended version of Dumbo's drunk dreams, but with dance, stereotypes and a lot of live action cutscenes, A LOT. I'll resume the Three Caballeros for you: It's a documental about latin american music and dance, hosted by Donald and his two latino friends José Cariocas and Panchito Pistoles. Nothing else, no plot, no anything. Just educational purposes I guess.
