Yeah, as far as I know that's the map for every other version. I prefer the PSX version because I feel it had the best experience in terms of sound. The way the audio is handled in a game can really make that much of a difference. I do wish it had the transition screen into Band Land of the PC version and the Candy Chateau level of the Jaguar, but eh, I kind of like the differences between versions deal Rayman games have always had.

Hm, I never had a problem with Allegro Presto. Bongo Hills I found to be more challenging in every aspect. Besides, you can turn Allegro Presto into Andante Adagio by taking the level as slowly as you want.

I agree, I remind having more trouble in Bongo Hills the first times I was playing the game. I think the lenght of the level was one of the reasons.

High five! I always loved that transition from the Dream Forest to the Band Land in the PC version.

When my interest for Rayman returned in 2008, after 4 years being completely unaware of what was going on in the franchise during that period of time, I started to notice that the versions for other consoles were not just ports, but different games themselves. Differences that are delicious to fans and feed our knowledge about the universe of Rayman.
 
I'm not sure I'm as keen with all the version differences, they make playing different versions all the more interesting, but, I'm not big on them changing the story, it makes the canon more difficult to comprehend, for about four years or so, I was convinced that the heart had 800 lums instead of 1000, for instance.
 
The classical versions of Rayman 2 are the PC, N64 and DC versions. These can be considered the "original" R2, so these show up the 1000 Lums. The PS1 version suffered hardware limitations so they had to shorten up the game, and consequently the number of Lums had to decrease aswell. The GBC version also owns 800 Lums to catch up, but this version can't even be considered as a canon.
 
Indeed, the issue was, that the PS1 version of Rayman 2 was my first, I didn't touch another version until after I'd played Rayman 3, which was in about '05, as such, my personal canon had it so that the heart comprised of 800 lums, not 1000, it was only after playing the PC version and looking things up a couple years later, that I was able to expel this idea and accept the true 1000 lums idea.
 
And this is what sometimes the version differences can bring trouble. Imagine this debate with a friend a decade ago, in the time where there was no YouTube and Wikipedia to show evidences.
 
I've been having the same problem as Master4lyf1. Except, I never played other versions of R2. I've had to watch other people play the games to see what all was different and while I still love the PSX version to death it was hard to adapt to the canon of the original versions. One of these days I'm going to go out and look for a copy of R2 on a different platform so I can experience it first hand because that might help me a lot adapting to the different canons.
 
I personally recommend you to try out Rayman 2 for Dreamcast, especially in a real console. You're going to love to death, as I did. Its by far the best Rayman 2 it exists and probably the best Rayman game ever made. However, if you like hub exploration, and long games, I recommend you Rayman Revolution. It takes the double of the time to be completed but its interesting how Ubisoft decided to add more details, including a 4th Guardian.

Okay! When I have the money to drop I will probably see if I can get both. Getting the Dreamcast version might be pricey because I don't own a Dreamcast and they seem to still sell for a good amount used, not to mention I'll need a controller, too. :P

The truly magical moment I felt was when I stepped out of the thick of the Dream Forest and into the rolling hills of Bongo Hills of Band Land. I'm sad because by the time I entered that screen for the first time I was too old to feel the magic.

Instead all the magical feels were wasted on the not as good first screen of Bongo Hills in every other version of the game. It was still pretty fuckin' magical, though.
 
Everybody is talking about Eat at Joe and Allegro Presto but am I the only one who found the second encounter with Sapce Mama very hard? Especially when you have only 3 HP.
 
You're not alone on that; I think that is one of the harder bossfights too. I think Space Mama's Crater is a pretty difficult level as a whole.
 
I'm pretty sure the full on boss battle with Space Mama was the hardest boss in the game. She had a lot of really difficult to dodge attacks even if you knew them all by heart, because even then you can be cutting it close a lot of the time.

To contrast, I think Skops was way too easy once you finally get to him.
 
Space Mama is probably the hardest of the normal bosses, however, the "boss rush"-esque finale does give me trouble with the Mama-Moskito hybrids.
Skops is easy, Moskito is fun, yet predictable, Sax requires you to notice the pattern, Stone is easy in terms of what you need to do, but the guy is brutal.
 
I do think that Space Mama is by far the toughest boss of the game. Skops is my favourite but probably the easiest of all.
 
Moskito was easy when you learned his attack pattern but Skops was literally just... jump and punch the entire time. It was kind of boring.

Wait, did you mean Bzzit? I think even he is a slight bit more difficult than Skops because there was still more pattern to his attacks. I've never died against Skops, but I've died against Bzzit before.

i agree with most of that yes i do but i like mr.sax best of the minions mr.dark is my absolute fav when it comes down to picking your fav boss mr.dark wins for me as you know :D
