I love John Simm as the Master - but then I love him for most of his roles.
I wonder though how Smith would act towards one of the main obstacles of his past; that's the point with this Doctor - they never confront him with Gallifrey or with the Time War or with any of that sort. I think I may have heard him mention it once or twice, but he's never been allowed to convey that emotional load that Tennant had to frequently try to bring across. I bet Smith would be quite good at it too, if they just gave him that part of the Doctor's life too, as opposed to briskly dusting it off every now and then just because they remembered they need to mention that too once in a while.

I know I sound like I'm really knocking the scripting team, but it's true that it hasn't at all been the main point of attention for this Doctor's series yet, while it's a pretty big deal for the character to have to come to terms with - and worse - have to live with.

But yes, I'd like to see Simm return as the Master, though I wonder how they'd pull it off. While it's not quite clear what happened to him (that's some clever script-writing right there) in the end, it's pretty obvious he's now double-dead. I hope they wouldn't just resurrect him again - that would be lame. He'd have to make his way back some other way. Like when he was first reintroduced with Tennant, he was an old man and the audience has no idea how he got there or why that man was him - and neither did the old man. I like that mystery; not everything has to be explained - most of the time it's better if it isn't!

If memory serves me right, The Master has an odd habit of surviving the most impossible of odds.

Ok so I used to be a fan of the rebooted series back when it premiered in 2005, i watch both series 1 and 2 and enjoyed them both greatly. For some reason i stopped watching during season 3 and i cant recall why.. I haven't watched an episode since then. I just started series 1 again and am attempting to watch all the series released thus far. I need to ask does the quality ever decline significantly at a certain point? Also how does Matt Smith hold up as the doctor?

I don't know which seasons you mean when you say 'series 1 and 2'. I find that the quality increases signifficantly when David Tennant stars as the Doctor, both because I find his acting supreme and the scripts are great. Matt Smith is good too, but he's just very different. With him, the focus of attention is more the silliness rather than the lonesome and fearful one-man army that was the Tenth Doctor. It's still rather enjoyable, but it's a very clear switch in style.

I meant the first 2 with Rose Tyler, im confused, when the series debuted in 2005 was it meant to be an overall reboot like say what Batman seems to be every decade or so, or is it meant to follow along from the classic seasons that came before?

All Seven 1963-1989 Classic Doctors, the 1996 Eighth Doctor, and the 2005-2013 NuWho Doctors are accounted for, along with some monsters from the classic series, such as the Sea Devils.

Good clip for that. They should really give him more moments like it - I love it when the Doctor bursts out a big confident speech to threaten or chase away the enemy.

Yeah - I'm not sure what to think of it, but it's a - like I said - cute little game if you've got time to kill and nothing better to do. It's not great - hell - there's dozens of better games, but once in a blue moon, it might be fun to check out.

I got round to watching the TV Movie from 1996, I skipped some of the unnecessary bits, but all in all, I can see why it was so divisive.
Mind you, all things considered, Paul McGann is an excellent Doctor.

From day one. Imagine what he might have achieved in the role if he'd had as much screen time as the other ten.

There's nothing I'd rather see from Doctor Who than a spin-off prequel series with Paul McGann just flying around in his big old Victorian laboratory church TARDIS. He could kiss all his companions and tell everyone how he's half-human on his mother's side. Let the fanboy tears flow.

I got one of my friends hyped up about it too. It's the very first day after our exams this term, so that's a lovely closing gift.
