Re: Rayman 3
Oh I hadn't thought of the Prison ShipShrooblord wrote:Obviously, but it makes some revisits illogical nonetheless; how would Rayman go back to the undestroyed Prison Ship over and over again after fighting Razorbeard? Why would you want to make a game 'as logical as possible' instead of either completely logical or completely replayable (like R3 is)?(*)
Well, you just can't make R2 (or indeed most games) 'completely logical' because it ends with victory for the good guys, which causes serious story problems when you revisit any level (the bad guys should then all be gone). Making it completely replayable will work in any game, but I can imagine why some game designers do not really want to use a time travelling trick like that when they set out to build an immersive world.
I think replaying levels 1-16 could be considered canon (correct me if I'm wrong) and the last two levels are supposed to have taken place only once. They really wanted to make what the player did - including revisits - as much canon as possible. On the other hand, they had to let the player revisit levels after the end of the game. They made a compromise between canon and gameplay, and I can understand why they did it.
Now, while I do understand it I don't fully agree with them - I don't like the fact that some areas are forever out of reach after I've passed them. Ideally they should have made a second 'revisit' version for every level that's canon too, like they apparently partially did in Revolution, but doing that for every level takes a huge amount of time and resources that would probably be better spent making new levels.
Huh? What? You're making a Rayman game? I can't find a forum thread about it!Shrooblord wrote:I'm employing the same strategy in my own Rayman game
Intersting. It's apparent from this image he's already found a lot of addresses. R1 is a simpler game than R2 or R3, so it could be easier to hack... if I can make Cheat Engine work with it.TFDs39 wrote:Take a look at this topic: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/tehrune ... .php?t=385
Looks like DOSBox will work with Cheat Engine!So you run Rayman Designer in DosBox, then you open Cheat Engine and click the computer thing on the top left and choose DosBox.exe? Then everything should show up?Yes exact.

Re: Rayman 3
OK, I read that whole thread and it's apparent they already did a lot of hacking with Rayman Designer before they got their hands on Cheat Engine. With CE they were able to do some crazy things such as changing the AI of enemies. They could also change the number of unlocked cages, something that may come in handy for RaySaves. I have never done Rayman Designer hacking - I'll focus on using Cheat Engine for the moment.
EDIT: I finished The Summit Beyond the Clouds. Now there are only two worlds left!

Could they turn enemies into familiars?! :ORobotic Teensie wrote:With CE they were able to do some crazy things such as changing the AI of enemies.
That'd be epic!
No, you wouldn't be able to; I haven't posted anything yet, because I want to have more than just concept art to show you once I start posting. I don't want to have a thread that's inactive for, say, half a year, leading everyone on to believe it's 'just another project that died'. I can assure you I'm as die-hard as Adsolution about this, but I want to post something substantial once I do.Robotic Teensie wrote:Huh? What? You're making a Rayman game? Before emshomar's patch I was using D-Fend Reloaded, which uses DOSBox, but this same emulator wasn't fully running the Rayman games in their maximum splendour, until emshomar appeared and solved the issues by releasing a patch. I use his patch since its creation.Robotic Teensie wrote:Heh, niceemshomar wrote:!!Even Haruka is using it!!
I thought she was using an emulator. Well, she probably did, until you released the patch.

Re: Rayman 3
Familiars? Like allied AI? I don't think so, because there is no friendly AI in Rayman 1 to begin with. They didn't program their own AI, they just re-used AI that were already in the game. For example they gave a Lividstone Moskito's AI, if I remember correctly.Shrooblord wrote:Could they turn enemies into familiars?! :ORobotic Teensie wrote:With CE they were able to do some crazy things such as changing the AI of enemies.

It's indeed better to wait until you have some solid content to show us. In the words of Minor-T5:

Ah, I see. Yes, DOSBox does have some issues :/ but it's probably still the best DOS emulator. Now made even better by emshomarHaruka wrote: Before emshomar's patch I was using D-Fend Reloaded, which uses DOSBox, but this same emulator wasn't fully running the Rayman games in their maximum splendour, until emshomar appeared and solved the issues by releasing a patch. After I have made all Rayman 3 savegames (2 worlds to go...) I'll finish up version 1.0 of the site and put it online. I'll expand it to include other games afterwards but I don't want to keep you guys waiting. I'm just not sure where I can host the site... but I think raymanpc.com would be preferable to something like rw482.lolzphr33webhosting.biz...

Re: Rayman 3
It would, but you can always set up a quick website on something like Freewebs. The only restriction in link name there is that it'll be named YOURNAME.webs.com. Not that big of a deal, in my opinion.

Thank you both! Don't worry. Content will arrive - but maybe not soon.Robotic Teensie wrote:It's indeed better to wait until you have some solid content to show us. In the words of Minor-T5:I wish you luck!

Minor-T5, I suggest you to reduce the signature size the fastest possible, or else you'll see your number of Tings decreased.
Re: Rayman 3
Okay. RIGHT AWAY!
Sorry, I just thought that would look good there.

Re: Rayman 3
I just finished Hoodlum Headquarters. Only one more world left!
TFDs39 generously provided a 100% completed savegame for Rayman 1, with Candy Chateau unlocked. This is going to be very helpful! After Rayman 3 I'll move on to R1. However I'll need a LOT more savegames for Rayman 1. :O
First of all I'll need a savegame with every level except for Mr Dark's Dare unlocked, but 0 cages in every level. This is the standard savegame, the one you would normally download when you'd want to play a level. NONE of the Magician's bonus levels must have been played through for this one!!
Then there is the Candy Chateau savegame, which TFDs39 gave me
- that one's already done.
Then there are one-time areas in Rayman 1. For example every time you encounter Betilla the Fairy... that encounter only happens once. When you revisit the level Betilla will be gone. The same goes for boss fights. So I will need to provide more savegames that you can use for the one-time events. For every level in the list below I will need a special savegame that:
Also, this might be a noob question but it's been a while since I played R1:
Are lives a one-time pickup or will they reappear when you replay a level?
If they are one-time-only an additional requirement must be met for all saves: any lives must NOT have been picked up.
If anyone feels like helping out with making those savegames, I'd very much appreciate it. You will be credited of course. I understand it's a lot of rules to follow, I'll explain them again if you're confused

- Has NOT visited the level itself yet (otherwise the one-time events would be gone);
- Does NOT have powers unlocked early with cheats (for example you can't fight Moskito with the helicopter or running power);
- Does NOT have Magician bonus levels played through.
- Pink Plant Woods (meeting Betilla)
- Anguish Lagoon (fighting Bzzit and meeting Betilla)
- Moskito's Nest (fighting Moskito and meeting Betilla)
- Allegro Presto (meeting Mr Sax and Betilla)
- Mr Sax's Hullaballoo (fighting Mr Sax)
- Twilight Gulch (being chased by Mr Stone)
- Mr Stone's Peaks (fighting Mr Stone and meeting Betilla)
- Eraser Plains (fighting Space Mama)

- Eat at Joe's (meeting Joe)
- Mr Skops' Stalactites (fighting Skops)

The lives are one-time pickup.
Also,if you want to unlock all the levels except Mr. Dark's Dare you have to type when you are in worldmap: "4ctrepfj" or "allworld"

You'll probably find that quite hard, since, I think, you need at least some Cages broken to enable you to progress.Robotic Teensie wrote:First of all I'll need a savegame with every level except for Mr Dark's Dare unlocked, but 0 cages in every level.

Really? I thought they were all optional pickups. If you're right, then the requirements will be changed to 0 optional cages in every level.Shrooblord wrote:You'll probably find that quite hard, since, I think, you need at least some Cages broken to enable you to progress.Robotic Teensie wrote:First of all I'll need a savegame with every level except for Mr Dark's Dare unlocked, but 0 cages in every level.

No not yet; rest assured that I will immediately tell everyone when it's doneTFDs39 wrote:Robotic Teensie,did you finish the website?
I still need to...
- Tweak the layout of the level sub-pages;
- Add screenshots and modify the tooltip UI widget for them;
- Add a written description for each part;
- Create the homepage;
- Find a web host.
I still need a logo...! I'm no good at making one. If anyone with artistic skills is in a creative mood, feel free to design a logo and I might use it. Remember, the website's name is "RaySaves". The logo will be placed in the left part of this banner:
Finally:
As a special preview, here's the savegame for that:TFDs39 wrote:I always wanted to fight with Reflux 2 without walking though The Tower of Leptys.

Place it in Rayman 3's savegame folder (for me it's C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubi Soft\Rayman3\GAMEDATA\SaveGame).
Re: Rayman 3
Thanks for the savegame
