Rayman Raving Rabbids

Someone told me on YouTube back when game was new that they used Russian music for the game and that all songs existed already before this game.
 
That's pretty cool then. I kinda like some Russian pieces or old folk songs, like Korobushka or Kalinka.
 
It was composed by a Moldovan gypsy brass band, but was inspired by Romanian folk. This stuff has nothing to do with Russia.

Thanks for telling me that, I had no idea. I guess person who told me it was russian didn't know it wasn't.
 
3D looked fair when I saw the trailer too. The actual game proved me wrong. Just another generic 2D platformer with no clever gameplay to be found.

Go Home was alright, but definitely repetitive. The music was pretty good in my opinion.
 
I liked the music in Go Home, it was so inventive. People should stop hating the Rabbids so much... they're still part of Rayman's canon, but now they have their own separate series (just like Mario and Wario) just as people asked! Despite how viral and stupid and sometimes annoying they are, they somehow cultivated their own fanbase, and believe it or not, despite how poor reviews the games receive, they all get pretty decent sales.

Oh, definitely. I loved looking at the vast orange canyon landscape while falling, and I always loved crashing into the walls; it made such a hardcore sound.

That's one of the reasons I liked the first Raving Rabbids so much more than the later games. Not only did it feel more connected to Rayman's world with the dark undertone (as opposed to the outright silly appearance of all the games following suit), there was a lot more detail put into it. The environments and graphics were still as beautiful as they'd ever been, the music was good, the games were extremely varied and fun, and for once, you actually thoroughly look forward to the moment when you get to shoot rabbids with plungers and dance to the hilarious bunny-influenced covers of famous songs.
 
I agree with Ad. Though the ending is a complete downer. Like oh cool, you can now escape and have another adventure... oh wait no, here's some bird shit instead.

Really? I just liked the minigame to crash into shit. :winkgrin:
 
I think one of the main reasons why they were hilarious is because they were supposed to be bad guys, and they still had some sense of "creepyness". They originally weren't that silly or stupid... they were just... there, staring at you, and would only make their noises when feeling happy or really angry. Look at this rabbid for example, look how he acts:


He's creepy, he's just there... and then he makes his weird noises while eating like a pig, but that's what makes him so funny. You can actually feel that the game, in its simplicity, still had a feel of creepiness, like you actually feel like a slave to those creatures, and they can harm you if you don't do your stuff correctly.
 
Holy shit Sergio you're right. I subconsciously noticed that but never really pointed that out like you did. Now that I think about it, I got a little unnerved at times when the Rabbids were just eerily staring at you at times before uncontrollably screaming/attacking/other weird shit.
 
Things you don't notice as a 10 year old...
@Rayfist, yeah, I have to admit, as enjoyable and epic the mini-game is, there's still some sadistic enjoyment I got from constantly crashing into things.
 
I never actually looked at it at it that way.I remember that the ending, despite being a let down (I actually thought there was a bad/normal/good ending thing going on and I had failed lol), actually really spooked me (I was 8). The moment when Rayman thinks about the baby Globox's is actually kinda terrifying. Listen to the music.

Edit:
This video basically shows it. The Rabbids are much more violent and frightening, making it seem that Rabbids would be a much more interesting series if it kept this appearance.
