I can tell I've been here too long when I can tell which members posted what.
Anyways, I think Ad and Spiral put it best.

OCG, stop with this. Just drop it.

I don't really get how this is an example of fanboyism. Maybe it's a thing Sonic fans do a lot or something? Can someone fill me in?

I love how exactly in the day I had a technician coming to my house to install optical fiber internet and only managing to go to the computer a few hours ago, it is when more Rayman Legends news are spread. In all the other days that I have the stuff accessible, nothing happens. This also happened in 2010 with the reveal of RO. Oh well.

I didn't watch all videos (some of them only) but so far the game is promising a good ammount of longevity. I'm surprised they tried to bring back some RO levels. I hope these aren't those extra levels that the team decided to add with the delay, I would be pretty disappointed if it was so.

[Is Bad Rayman back? I saw something like this in a video. Also, the Magician surely likes ducks.]

No, he is not. He's just trying to figure out a way to make his nonsensical headcanon a reality. By headcanon I mean that he thinks that the "real" Magician is somewhere else and that this Magician is another character. Why? Because he doesn't accept the fact that the Magician that we know has changed.

eh, haven't watched or read everything, but from what I have, I don't know how to feel towards most of it, aside from the whole Dark Rayman thing, I really like the idea of that.

And in defense of OCG, I honest to god haven't seen any official confirmation that Ales Mansay is the same magician from Rayman 1, it's very easy to make that comparison, I understand, but honest to god, unless someone comes straight out to say it (which chances are- considering how small a detail it is- I don't think they ever will) I say it's still very in the water as to The RO magicians real identity, whether he really is the same friend from Rayman 1, or is a completely new character.
And if there has been official confirmation, feel free to mock me for wasting my time to write a pointless paragraph, but I just thought I should get that out there, especially when most of you're all acting like babies over it.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

That's me mocking you. I know they've confirmed that he's the same character somewhere, and if the fact that they dress the same and have the same name doesn't convince you they're the same character, I don't know what will. Besides, why would Rayman trust a random Teensie he just suddenly met unless they knew each other?

Y'know, I don't actually recall any official material stating that they were the same, I could be wrong however. Despite that, I think the intent of having them the same is clear, they share a similar design, though moreso in the BETA material, and he also shares a few traits as the classic R1 Magician, such as hiding in his hat, given that they practically did away with the limbless species and had only a specific few Rayman-like creatures, it was always the case that the Magician, must like Betilla, would end up as something else.

Either way, I've stated many-a-times that I don't really have any issues with the Magician turning evil, the only issue I have really was that they got rid of all the material that made the betrayal more effective and opted to make the moment of truth rather hollow by giving us some weird dance off, which, I admit, was funny the first time, but not so much now.

I recall discussing this elsewhere, now that I think about it, here.

Woo, I'm so intimidated. it also proves my point you're acting like a baby.
I know they've confirmed that he's the same character somewhere
Source please.

Alright, I believe 'magician' is a job title, not a name, 'the' in it may hold significance, however, real world magicians tend to have titles, that mostly start with 'the', it may be a possibility, though it's a bit of a stretch, that if these two are different beings, the most creative title's they could come up with is 'the magician'. Also, stereotypical magicians tend to wear similar apparel, with the most common being a black top hat, sometimes with a decoration usually a star or a pattern of stars, and if you look at both the magician and Ales, They actually only have one piece of clothing in common, their top hats, with a star decoration.

I dunno, why would Rayman trust any of the other Teensies in Origins, or any of the games for that matter? with the grand minimus its obvious as to why, but with the rest it isn't. Besides, the only reason you just said that is because you know he turns evil in the end, you know what happens, would Rayman or anyone else know he was evil until the reveal? no, probably not.

Builder...dude. The manual itself says he's the Magician. Why would Ubisoft name two characters that look almost the same "The Magician"? Also, the files give a very valid story about why he turned bad.

We had enough problems just figuring out if that Teensy was the Magician or Mr Dark. Don't complicate things when the solution is pretty obvious.

What woohoo song? I think it will either be Slayer or Dragonforce.

The manual says he's this game's magician, but it doesn't say that he's the same magician from Rayman 1. And the files give a valid story as to why Ales turned to the dark side, but they never once said "oh, by the way this is the magician from Rayman 1."

Think about it this way. Rayman was released in 1995, Rayman Origins was released in 2011, what is the target demographic of a general Rayman game? about 7-12 years of age, seeing as there was a 16 year gap between the two, most of the kids who played Origins probably didn't play Rayman 1, meaning they wouldn't know who the magician was, they would know who Mansay was, but not the magician. Thinking about it like that, the only reason for Ubisoft to make Mansay the same character as the Rayman 1 magician, was the long term fanbase that had played Rayman 1, and let's face it, that's a very small minority of people who played Origins, and they probably knew that while they were developing it. I'm not saying that Ales isn't the magician from Rayman 1, because he may be, what I'm saying is there isn't nearly enough concrete evidence to prove he is. I could very easily see that while he may not be the same character, he does have one or two similarities to him, and it would still work, the new players would still feel betrayed, because this is a guide you've trusted through the whole game, and fan's would feel even moreso betrayed for the same reasons, and that the character reminds you of the magician, even though he isn't the same character.

If you think there is enough evidence to support the fact that Ales and TM are the same characters, that's fine, but personally, until we get some official word, or unless Legends clears everything or at least most things up, I just can't say for sure that they're the same characters, and that's fine too.

You're right, this feels like it's gone on long enough. I'll let those who want to talk about something else talk about something else. If you still think I'm wrong and you want to prove me wrong, PM me about it, and I may talk about it more if you're at least polite about it.

Much appreciated Master, if a tad late, for now at least I've said everything I want to say but if I find out anything or someone comes up with an argument that proves me wrong, I'll definitely continue it there. I'll keep it bookmarked.
