I don't know about the Dutch voice acting... So is it also possible to get Dutch subtitles only?Adsolution wrote:The three primary languages that will for sure exist with full voice acting are English, French and Dutch, with subtitles in other languages. Whether the other languages receive full voice acting as well or not will depend on the support the game receives as it progresses, especially if money ever becomes involved.ZeptoRay wrote:Random question! Will the game be in other languages/have subtitles in other languages? Because if you are planning to get it released if Ubi Soft accepts you might need to have it in different languages too. I don't know if this question already got asked and I don't really feel like going through over 300 pages to see if it has been. If it has then i'm sorry for repeating a question!

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
There should be an option to choose voices and subtitles and customize how you want so you can put English voices and Dutch subs. Just how Rayman Revolution had. Pity that Rayman 3 had subs tied to voice language.Fouadtjuhmaster wrote:I don't know about the Dutch voice acting... Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
Why not? If you can get some people to do it well, Dutch voice acting can be superb. Don't look at most modern-day cartoons. Look at things like Chicken Run, Avatar and Skyland.Fouadtjuhmaster wrote:I don't know about the Dutch voice acting... So is it also possible to get Dutch subtitles only?
I'm sure Ad wouldn't put in any voices he thinks 'we'll just have to make due with because we simply need a voice here'.
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
Thanks for the full answer Ad! Fun to know it will be dubbed in French too.Adsolution wrote:The three primary languages that will for sure exist with full voice acting are English, French and Dutch, with subtitles in other languages. For some reasons this went right over my head and I didn't even think about it. Guess I was too tired to think properly.Shrooblord wrote:You can use the Advanced search function of this forum to search in a specific topic, I believe.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
I'm from the Netherlands and believe me.. I hate Dutch dubbed games, like really and I know a lot of people that do as well.
Though, I do think it should be an option, it would be nice for smaller children who don't speak English too well.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
I'm Dutch too and I definitely understand why you hate them - things tend to sound really lame when translated to Dutch. Which is why, if Ad picks me to translate stuffs, I will do the very best I can to make it sound as epic as I can in this 'language of the sea' we utilise.
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
I think it can be said for every country that there are some bad dubs. Some country has more bad dubs some less. But every country can get at least something translated good with voice overs. I believe if this game gets Dutch voices, they will be good.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
Look, I'm sure Ad won't be hiring the same crappy 'B-rated' voice actors you hear in every Dutch cartoon show - which is what makes me dislike Dutch dubs as they also dub the movies I love -, so we'll be fine. And if you dislike the voices, don't listen to them!
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
I remember watching all episodes as a kid of some half Dutch half Japanese show called Alfred J. Kwak. What is your opinion on their voice acting? (I am asking about Dutch dub of course)

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
Ahahahha there's not a kid in the entirety of the Netherlands that wouldn't know Alfred J. Kwak or his accompanying theme music! xP
From what I can remember from the voices themselves, they sounded not harsh but rather soft (in a kind way, not a non-audible way) and friendly - but maybe that's childhood memories sprucing things up a little.
(whereas most of those crappy Dutch voice actors have shrill, annoying voices)

That one was "OK" I guess.. but I was a little kid back then, so I didn't mind.. But now, I would not listen to something like that
For some odd reason I hate it when game character talk Dutch.. same with cartoonsAdsolution wrote:Why?Fouadtjuhmaster wrote:I don't know about the Dutch voice acting... So is it also possible to get Dutch subtitles only?
EDIT:
It seems i'm not the only one

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
Honestly, I don't mind it having Dutch voice acting. If someone don't like it they can always switch it to English, nothing obligates anyone to play it with Dutch dub.

I second this. I have seen some pretty horrible French and English dubs and even some other languages. But I have also seen some really good dubs in all of them. It doesn't mean that if it sounds bad in some thing that it will sound bad in ROTD too. All the depends on who does the voice acting.OldClassicGamer wrote:I think it can be said for every country that there are some bad dubs. Some country has more bad dubs some less. Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
Would ROTD even really need voice actors? I mean I know we discussed me voice acting Moskito but we could just make our own form of Rayman Gibberish for it possibly if it becomes too much trouble.
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
@Rayfist
Honestly I prefer English over Gibberish

Could you please stop doing that? I don't know why, but it creeps and bugs the hell out of me, especially if the poster you're replying to is directly above you.OldClassicGamer wrote:@Rayfist
I think RotD is supposed to have both Raymanian and Earth-languages.
