Re: Rayman 2
I know that some people don't like too high pitched and too low pitched voices. But to me, voices like that sound cool.
Re: Rayman 2
I could do without voice acting in games. Only on very rare occasions is it well done, and that's only in games like Assasin's Creed or Half-Life, which are easy due to simply having human characters (Well except the Vortigaunts in Half-Life, which also have voices that are kinda bleh). But hell, even the Black Mesa game had a few lines performed badly. Already as a kid I couldn't stand it when playing Ty.
Re: Rayman 2
The first game that ever made me turn off voice acting (thank god they included that option) was Kid Icarus Uprising. They just did not want to shut up during Gameplay and Pit had bad voice actor. I liked his Brawl voice way better.

Re: Rayman 2
Random question, but can the unlockable demo if the 2D Rayman 2 be downloaded as it's own ISO?
I'm curious to play it, but I would rather not have to play through an inferior version of the final Rayman 2 just to play it. I might try downloading a 100% save file of the PS1 version, as well as a Rayman 2 ISO, if no standalone ISO exists for the beta.

Re: Rayman 2
I don't think there has been the prototype alone ever released somewhere, but if it has its own executable (independent from real Rayman 2) then it could be easily dumped.

Not to sound like a raging fanatic, but despite the watered downness of the PS1 version, I think it should be given credit where it's due, it has a more expanded story, and some of its modifications are pretty well done, I love its final boss, always felt more like a final fight to me.

Re: Rayman 2
I actually wasn't aware of it having extra story elements, or a different final boss. I knew it had one or two extra NPCs, and the 2D beta level, but I thought that other than that, it was just a version of the game with less content overall.Master wrote:Not to sound like a raging fanatic, but despite the watered downness of the PS1 version, I think it should be given credit where it's due, it has a more expanded story, and some of its modifications are pretty well done, I love its final boss, always felt more like a final fight to me.
In this case, I may play through the PS1 version myself. I have a 3 hour free period where haven't got a lot to do, every Monday and Tuesday. I might bring my laptop into college to play it during that time (I was planning to use it to play Origins anyway).

Re: Rayman 2
It's probably still shorter overall, but there are some very interesting and exclusive changes made which are interesting to play through.
Re: Rayman 2
Going back to IOS port, it's not a bad port. I've skimmed through some pages on this thread and the biggest complaint I've read were the controls were terrible. Actually they're not. I've played the iOS port all the way through and the controls handle great. I don't see how the iOS port is consider terrible.

Re: Rayman 2
Hm, I think the biggest gripe most had with it, was that it didn't include Globox Village, even though it was a Dreamcast port, if I recall correctly.
Re: Rayman 2
If you want the true Raysperiance then play Revolution. Hands down most complete version of the game, even if it sadly doesn't have the Hall of Doorssonicbrawler182 wrote:I actually wasn't aware of it having extra story elements, or a different final boss. Re: Rayman 2
Not having the Hall of Doors plus the cutscene of the Disc (which I nowadays still can't understand why it was not brought to PS2).

I haven;t seen footage of the Globox Village so I'm not sure to be disappointed yet.Master wrote:Hm, I think the biggest gripe most had with it, was that it didn't include Globox Village, even though it was a Dreamcast port, if I recall correctly.
As the same with that I have no idea of what cutscene you've mentioned and I absolutely love the world map to death that was included in the iOS port.Haruka wrote:Not having the Hall of Doors plus the cutscene of the Disc (which I nowadays still can't understand why it was not brought to PS2).
Re: Rayman 2
Oh iOS is the Dreamcast version? I'm not really fond of that map. Kinda lacks the mystery from the Hall of Doors. Rayman 3D doesn't have the village either.

I had no idea this existed.spiraldoor wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zxKvDJirYkBradandez wrote:As the same with that I have no idea of what cutscene you've mentioned
Re: Rayman 2
Ah I've never seen it because as the iOS does not include any minigames nor the Globox Village. And I still love the Isle of Doors. The Hall of Doors never really wowed me, it's still a nifty world map but I don't know, I like the Isle better. Also, I really want to play the console ports. The N64 version doesn't really awe as the others (which includes the iOS version).spiraldoor wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zxKvDJirYkBradandez wrote:As the same with that I have no idea of what cutscene you've mentioned

Re: Rayman 2
Hm, one of the biggest bonus' and perks which make the Dreamcast version the definite classic iteration of Rayman 2.Keane wrote:I had no idea this existed.spiraldoor wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zxKvDJirYkBradandez wrote:As the same with that I have no idea of what cutscene you've mentioned
Re: Rayman 2
The Dreamcast version is the best Rayman title I've ever played, in all levels. It features really nice extras that the other versions don't have, and if you play in a real console you can get delighted by the fluid framerate of 60FPS and super sharp and responsive controls. There are no excuses to not play this version.
Re: Rayman 2
Oh yeah the Dreamcast version is incredible from the footage I've seen.
