Likelihood is, if there are untapped aspects of my personality lying dormant within me, I will hate them. I tend to hate my deeper, more concealed side. This is entirely a personal reason though.

Another reason why I never want to drink is because, in this world, there isn't an awful lot I can do to feel like I have some inner strength. I said, from a young age, that I would never drink. By sticking to that, it makes me feel a bit stronger. I'll take anything to feel worth a dime in my highly self-critical eyes. Same applies to the sex thing.

But I don't shun people who drink. My best friend drinks, smokes, and has had sex, and was 16 when he first did all three. He only just turned 17, actually, on Wednesday.

There's always the temptation to get something nice added, but I'm a student at heart: the choice between more alcohol and better-tasting alcohol is a very easy one.

With the occasional exception, I do drink moderately, which is defined as no more than three to four drinks per episode and no more than twelve to fourteen drinks per week for an adult man. I'm not sure where you're going with the smoking comparisons; to the best of my knowledge, moderate drinking is considerably less likely to cause terminal illness.

From what I know about it (little, I must admit, as I haven't tried it out), what alcohol really does is give you a boost of confidence, with a ton of negative effects as the price you have to pay for it. Basically, the reason you are funnier is because you're more confident your jokes will succeed. You can have deep conversations because you're confident that your friends won't just laugh at you for it. So...

... wouldn't "the right people" be the ones you can have that much fun with or have deep conversations with without being drunk? When I'm with those who are really my friends, I laugh all the time (often to the point that I or my friends get the giggles). With them, I've had several conversations about the kind of things you hide from the world by all costs. That's right, when I'm with them, I'm confident enough to talk. It comes naturally to me. I don't need to "enhance" that confidence or make it easier for myself by drinking. And it seems that, because of that, people respect me more. :)

There are also those who laugh because I don't drink, who think I'm "not part of the group". Well, if they need people to drink in order to become or remain friends with them, then that's simply pathetic. As is their behaviour when they're drunk, which really doesn't make me want to be part of that group.

Also, the fucking smell. Of the beer (and other alcoholic drinks). The puke. Bwegh. I really, really wouldn't want to get used to that.

That's also true for me to an extent, but as I said, it's still a lot easier and more enjoyable if all parties involved are a bit drunk. You'll also find yourself thinking and saying things which surprise you, and which would never even occur to you while sober, despite being reflective of your deepest thoughts. Needless to say, women are usually one of the main topics of conversation.
 
That's exactly the way I see it as well. Relatively harmless mind-altering substances I see as almost essential in some cases, as it can help keep your mind fresh if you're caught in a loop or maybe being a bit stubborn.

It's absolutely terrible, at least, getting drunk then high is, it results in your head spinning like you can't imagine, and then (in my case) making yourself throw up to stop the feeling of nausea.
I've often had a few beers after getting high though but I don't think I've ever got drunk. Although I've heard doing it that way round is fine.

When my dad gets drunk, he can't walk straight, I guess this is common for everyone who does, but he also get extremely depressed and starts crying about his deceased brother, that's why I hate when he start drinking because I know he is going to start crying again for 4 hours. I don't like seeing people cry, it makes me want to cry. :|
As for my mom, she never drinks enough to get drunk, she only drink during Christmas and new year. The only time she got drunk was on her honey moon with dad and my dad recorded her, she thought something looked like eggs and that the fire extincting bottle thing was ketchup, it was hilarious.

Although, I even less want to take drugs than drink, the only reason I would would be to get rid of a sickness or take the pain of something away if its worth it ( like getting bitten by a crocodile. ). Since I know some of the things in some specific drugs have this effect.

Despite the fact that my dad drinks consist nearly entirely of beer and I rarely see him drink anything else, I haven't seen him full-on drunk minus a couple of times. Okay, well I've seen his behavior after a couple of drinks and he's usually quite angry during those times, but during the times in which I've seen him full-on drunk he had been quite funny - very "goofy".

I never plan on drinking, plus I'm not able to get drunk anyways. The revolting taste of it and the hangovers afterwards had caused me to find it pointless to get drunk anyways.

In all seriousness, I am open to marijuana, however I'm not sure about other drugs. I'm definitely steering clear of stimulants, that's for sure. Heroin, cocaine, and meth are surely the largest no nos.
 
My dad get drunks often, I don't like it. He already fell asleep on the toilet. ( ok well that was actually hilarious. ) broke the Christmas tree, my mom's laptop by dropping it and broke a bunch of other stuff too. At least he doesn't get violent like my friend's father.

I don't have an opinion on marijuana honestly, people do what they want with it as long as they don't kill themselves over it since it can be bad to take it too much. Other drugs, I would just want them to disappear from the surface of the planet, specifically the "bath salt" one that turns people into freaking zombies and they want to eat people or eats themselves.
 
I'm not going to start taking it, not interested. I have no interest in drinks, drugs or cigarettes. :?
 
It's alright. I won't mention anything of my experiences, mostly because it ain't worth typing.

It is impossible to overdose on marijuana.
 
It affects your health in a bad way so yes. Its like saying smoking 150 cigarettes a day wont affect your health.

There are few draw backs of smoking marijuana and most are short term, but I get your point.
