It is amazing to think about the ten years anniversary of R3 and the game is still not exhausted for points and new strategies. There are still secrets and unknown combos to find if you look for them. I don’t think we will ever find a game with such a compelling scoring system that can motivate players for decades. As you go deeper into the game and learn new techniques, a wealth of new scoring opportunities open up for you.
So, happy anniversary to R3 from us all.
I’m thrilled to see the score thread is still active and that players are still improving their scores. I follow this thread on a regular basis and even though I haven’t been active as a player for a while I have not put my controller away for good.
I haven’t replayed BOM for the extra 100 points. I can pick up 200+ points in LS and maybe 400+ points in SBTC. I can’t see myself playing SBTC again though.
One level I did improve was DOTK, where I made a new combo in order to reach a new maximum score. As this is an anniversary year it would seem appropriate to release it now. At the time I made the combo there was no activity here, so I didn’t really bother to release it. The maximum score is obviously reached by getting 12 Lums from the four Hoodlums. I didn’t have patience for that when making the video. I settled for 8.

Other than improving the overall score of levels I find it challenging to discover new combos that perhaps may not improve the total score of a level, but reveal new knowledge about the game, a knowledge that perhaps can be used in other parts of the game as well.
As for FC, well this has been a long debate about revealing ideas or not. As I have now released the DOTK video there seem to be only FC left. My arguments for not releasing exactly how to play the various combos are: I have put a lot of time into developing ideas and skills to play some rather elaborate and, dare I say, outrageous combos in FC. One of them took me half a year to complete. R3 is also a competition for the first spot in HoF. And if anyone wants to make a challenge for the first spot, I think that person should at least come up with ideas of his or her own to earn that spot. I have shared all my ideas and findings with the exception of FC. I did reveal where the points could be found though.
FC is not completely exhausted for points. I know where to find 100 - 200 extra points. But as these points are horribly difficult to get and as one has to make other insane combos work at the same time, I didn’t go there the last time I played FC.
I wonder what kind of development we will see in R3 in the next decade. Perhaps someone will break the 860.000 points barrier?
Dark_Shadow: Cool to see the old Top 100. That brings back memories.
