Re: Rayman 1
Hm, I know some are very keen on remaking Rayman 1 HD, so I've got a question, would you potential remakers up the soundtrack, or leave it as is?

The bgm is in CD quality so it is already in a decent quality. I'd keep the tracks how they are to reduce time and work, but I am unsure what others opinion are.

"To reduce time and work" can also be used as an excuse for someone not wanting to make an HD version at all: "The original is already nice, so it would be a waste to remake it."emshomar wrote:The bgm is in CD quality so it is already in a decent quality. I completely disagree. Like the graphics, you can tell that the music still utilises mediocre early-90's MIDI samples, and rarely do the instruments sound natural or authentic. Does it still sound beautiful as it is, were the samples in good hands, and does it completely embrace the quality of the original game? Yes. Could it, in this day and age, be ten times better? Yes.
Re: Rayman 1
I would love to hear remastered R1 OST.

Re: Rayman 1
If we are to make a Rayman 1 HD, i think everything should be remastered including the music, art and gameplay. "To reduce time and work" would be no excuse for not remaking the OST, when everything else is remade.

Thats something different. I never made it to Joe's in PC version so this is new to me.

It actually is terrifying.emshomar wrote:https://www.dropbox.com/s/csb3e4mgzwdfj ... hahaha.wmaTHEdragon wrote:I heard Joe's voice for the first time a few minutes ago. I closed DOSbox pretty soon after that terrifying experience.

Re: Rayman 1
I really think the music should be left as it is. I don't think it should be redone. That should help us avoid travesties like this, this, and this.
The only thing I wish they would do is split the intro of a song into a different audio track, so it would sound like an extended song rather than looping over and over. Also, it would be cool if, in some tracks (like the Mr. Stone boss battle), the game would wait to play certain parts of the song until you knock of a certain amount of HP. But I think they should keep the original music.

1. I personally experienced that issue in Sly Cooper 1 HD, and that's nothing more than a programming glitch.
2. Jesus what the fuck, i didn't know the boss of Conker is a pile of shit.
I don't know what's wrong with the latter two however. Though i guess i'll use those ideas in Rayman 1 HD, they actually seem cool.

Re: Rayman 1
@Tech, a bit like the "pinch" themes used in Sonic Rush during boss fights?

This is inductive reasoning, not deductive. One is a valid basis for an argument, the other is not. Your opinion has less to do with the skill of the one redoing the tracks and more to do with the apparent "required" failure in doing so. That's an irrational outlook on life.

Re: Rayman 1
#1: I have no idea how that glitch passed play-testing. -_- But they also remixed the music in many areas, which was good sometimes (Clockwerk boss fight), but awful in others (everywhere else).Rayrobi wrote:1. #2: Awful rerecord and censoring of a once-hilarious boss fight. http://youtu.be/T-XCz2sg6TI But I guess it still has its charm.
#3: They took the music from the FUCKING ARRANGED SOUNDTRACK. *facepalm* That means the wrong music is playing at the wrong time, and that it is looping, meaning that you hear the song stop and start up again.
@Adsolution Also, if something is already good, why change it? There's repeated evidence that they could very well fail at the task of remastering it; I don't call that a "terrible and irrational outlook on life."
Re: Rayman 1
I still vote for remaking OST but just not doing lazy work.
Re: Rayman 1
I'm not that dumb to put in a worse version of a song if the original was better, the problem is that today it is possible to make it far better. If the remastered version turns out to be worse, it obviously won't get into the game, you can be sure about that.
I'm not like a person who is like: i have remastered something for a game, ppl say it is bad, nah i don't care, at least i make money out from it...
( cough* cough* Ubisoft cough*

Re: Rayman 1
I think the only thing that needs to be taken care of in the sound track is the songs looping over and over, rather than being extended so that won't happen. If the OST ends up being rerecorded, then there should at least be the option to use the originals.Rayrobi wrote:I'm not that dumb to put in a worse version of a song if the original was better, the problem is that today it is possible to make it far better. I've got no issue with the original track being changed (if it's done correctly), but I don't like the idea of something great being rerecorded.
Re: Rayman 1
Why i actually thought of the original OST being in the game is because if we remake a song, there would sometimes be a big difference compared to the original, which people may like or not like, and i don't want them to do the latter. And that might be because i just started music making, so i don't have any experience in that at all.

OCG and Adsolution seem to be talking about rerecording.Rayrobi wrote:Why i actually thought of the original OST being in the game is because if we remake a song, there would sometimes be a big difference compared to the original, which people may like or not like, and i don't want them to do the latter. Re: Rayman 1
Only rerecording and not remaking? Anyways, i don't want to use the original OST, above i stated the only reason why i actually thought of using it. I'm against it though, i'd go with remaking/rerecording the songs.technology4617 wrote:OCG and Adsolution seem to be talking about rerecording.Rayrobi wrote:Why i actually thought of the original OST being in the game is because if we remake a song, there would sometimes be a big difference compared to the original, which people may like or not like, and i don't want them to do the latter.
