Serza posted a video, it had a title to do with Anime, and I know nothing about anime. So naturally I didn't look at the video. If the thread had purely been about the video I would have watched. I posted afterwards asking a question which wasn't related to Serza's video.
Serza replied:
'If you were going to post anything it could've at least been about what I just posted.
I apologized and explained how I didn't know anything about anime.
Serza replied:
'That has nothing to do with commenting on the video. Could you please attempt to use the brain cells in your head other than the ones in your ballsack?'
^That doesn't make sense. It's an Off Topic thread, therefore I can speak about things which are Off Topic as long as they are within the rules. If the thread had been about the video which Serza had posted and I posted something unrelated I'd understand what Serza was saying.
Adsolution then said:
'Then don't comment if you have nothing to say. You're way too hyper, and probably only around a third of your five hundred posts serve any purpose whatsoever.'
Again, the thread is an Off Topic thread so therefore I don't have to directly reply to the post above me. The comment about approx a third of my posts are pointless. I'd say that's not a fair comment considering a lot of my posts are in the games threads. So therefore you're technically saying that games threads posts are pointless which actually applies to a lot of members here who frequently post in them. I'm all for games threads.
I then went into the IRC to see if anyone was online so I could try and talk this situation out further.
'Adsolution - No. Those thousands of pages in the games thread are mostly built out of reasonable discussion. At least half of your posts consist of things like "SUP MAHTATFUCKAAA" and "ZOMG PPP thats so cool" or other things that mean virtually nothing.'
That's funny how Adsolution has said that the thousands of pages of the games threads are built out of discussion. So the this or that, and word to word thread is a reasonable discussion? I posted one post that was like 'HEY GUIZIZIZIZ' and Adsolution amused all my other posts are like that, which they are not.
'Adsolution - As a long-time member of this community and moderator, I have the ability to tell when people are being annoyed. I'm sorry to say, but you are quite annoying, and most people will agree. Clearly you can't argue with the fact that you're doing something wrong if most people find you to be annoying?'
I'd like to point out that this is a forum. What happens on forums? People have conversations and discuss things. I contribute plenty of things ,not all of them especially deep and meaningful but they are always on topic and add or promote a discussion.
'Adsolution - But you have done something wrong, that's what we're trying to tell you. Instead of trying to find out more, you're getting pissed off and berating the people who know this community and the internet forum culture itself far, far beter than you do.'
This is an outrageous claim to make. Absolution doesn't even know me, so how can he make a statement like that? He might know more then me about forum culture, or I might know more about it then he does! None of us can make that statement because we both don't know each other!
I was then banned from the chat.
'Serza logic, where is it
Adsolution Can I please deduct tings from Roles?
Serza No yet
Adsolution Not even 200? '
I think it's pretty revolting that the mods would even consider a punishment for this.
Let me summarize my feelings.
I really do love & admire this forum. The original RZ forum was a big part of my life (which sounds sad) but I made a lot of friends there and spent a lot of time there when I was younger. I was so happy to find somewhere which still had the spirit of the old RZ (this place). This site is great, the way you've got the ranks system, the Rayman 3 scores etc. - I was so excited to be a part of a Rayman community again, you all seemed super friendly in the welcome thread.
I was hoping to find a lot of the old RZ members here, it seems like they've left this place a while ago. The reality is I feel a lot of us aren't on the same page. We're clashing, and we just don't get each other. It's a real shame, because I really wanted to be a big part of this place. I think it's sad how a new member is treated. Surely someone who is active, friendly, with a lot of potential should be treated better then that.
I really don't agree or understand a lot of your guys views here on contribution and attitude to members. I find this place sometimes incredibly formal, or sometimes incredibly vulgar. Both I can deal with, but I don't know where I stand. I thought this place was really cool, swearing mods, care free attitudes, a really cool relaxed place. I think our ideas totally clash.
I don't feel I've been treated fairly, or with my tolerance. I feel you guys are in a bubble and I'm on the outside. I don't think I'm the right sort of person for this community. As I said , it's a real shame because I was really starting to think I was making bonds with people here and I was having fun chatting to people.
But I won't stay somewhere that makes me feel like that. Because the reality is we're never going to see eye-to-eye. I'm going to be replying to this thread, because I want to be able to address peoples viewpoints on this.
Thanks
oh and just a quick edit! - I never did properly explain my username here, I may as well since I'll probably forget. A family friend setup my original RZ account under the name 'rolesfamily' when I was a kid (10 at the time) I used to love Rolls Royce cars. I used to always say how I'd want to have several and have my own 'family' of Rolls Royces haha. Too bad that family friend thought it was spelled 'roles', but it stuck so I kept it. I think it's pretty funny anyway.
There's a little bit of pointless trivia for ya
