I think this whole tirade has gone on enough, personally. Shall we go back to collected conversation?

Yes Master, I anyway couldn't last any longer.

If Rayman Revolution had the ability to run also in 16:9 mode and Globox Village it would have been the ultimate Rayman 2 version. It is sadly to see only the Dreamcast version had 16:9.

Hm, even if Revolution had all that, it still lacks the consistent 60 FPS of the Dreamcast version, add that into the mix, and then you have quite the version of Rayman 2. That being said, I'd still like for there to be a touched up iteration of the Dreamcast version also, as it is the best version of Rayman 2 classic.

I don't see how you could call it "ultimate" when it still removes content central to the game and redistributes elements beyond all recognition.

Honestly, I both appreciate Revolution and DC Rayman 2. But they have their strong points and weak points. For me the really ultimate R2 would be a mix of these two plus the PS1 version.

Speaking of Rayman 2, I forgot to say that I got Rayman 3D today. It's ok I guess.

Or an HD collection with the Dreamcast port and RR on one disc.

I will, although it's too bad that Rayman freezes.

I am including here the PS1 for a small particularities that I appreciate a lot and I feel sorry that they were not included in other versions:

- The guardians talk to Rayman. I think this adds a lot to the game, and makes you know Umber much better, at least for me that I originally grew up with the PC version. Umber warns Rayman about the Ninja Henchmen since he's capable to read auras and we also see he is calm and good tempered. He doesn't commit suicide either, which I think it makes a lot of sense compared to the other 3.

- The Teensies give away extra information to Rayman. They talk more about the guardians to Rayman, especially concerning Foutch. When I originally thought that Foutch was simply bad tempered and super upset to see someone challenging him for the mask, in PS1 it is explained that Foutch simply got mad with the explosion of the Heart and lost racionality and conscience.

- The extra cutscene of Razorbeard. Ninjaws is introduced as an elite from the army, and it adds a good challenge for the second mask in PS1. I think it is nicely rewarding since Umber doesn't fight at all. I also would have liked to see more Ninja Henchmen in the other versions.

- Blending somehow the exclusive areas from the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire. It has got a really cool wide section full of lava and Purple Lums.

- The final battle inside the Crow's Nest. Harder and longer than the original way. This could be the second part of the battle and the original way the third.

- R2 prototype minigame. This could be included in an expanded Globox Village or Magic Well.

I would like to point out something about game cover of Rayman 3D.
According to wiki, this is German cover
Image
Well, I got the German version and cover is not mirrored like on that picture (Rayman is facing in the left and not right).
It's pretty much same like this:

except the rating is not by PEGI.

Some scenes would need to be remade for this to happen, or recorded as HD FMVs from an emulator with a 16:9 hack such as PCSX-R, but this could be interesting.

Hm, I'd assume Haruka was speaking in a remake mindset, not rerecord.
Yeah, there are some nifty things the PS1 version has, and I think adding a few of these to the core classic Rayman 2 could greatly enhance the experience.

It's probably just a placeholder like a lot of stock images are.

Cairneie probbably nailed it on the head.

It's funny when the messed up placeholder goes into the final product, like the Wii remake of Okami shipping with that IGN watermark on the cover art.

On topic, The Echoing Caves will always be my favorite level, since you get to do stuff with plums, look down into the valley temporarily, finally 100% the fairy glade, and I just think that flying with the gunpowder barrel is downright clever.

Hm, The Echoing Caves, hm?
Yeah, the keg flying segments, and the connection to the Fairy Glade were all neat things to mess about with, and those caves with the weird green liquids, mysterious and imposing indeed.

My personal favourite, well, I'm not sure, I tend to prefer levels which have unique and memorable traits to themselves, like the Water-Skiing with Sssam, the massive chase in The Precipice, the chair ride in The Top of the World or the unlimited helicopter in Beneath the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava, to name a few.

Slight change of topic, but has anyone else realised how much the game over music in Sonic Lost World is similar to Rayman 2's style of music.
