Spambots and how to deal with them

Yes, forgive him for a post he made 4 months ago, on Record Day.
Eesh, I know the need to post is strong, but there was absolutely no point to that post whatsoever, unless it's Record Day, which it isn't, keep this serious and relevant please.

That's great, multiple spambots register and are banned on a daily basis. Just hit the report button and shut up.
 
No, you don't, just select that it's clearly meant to advertise from the drop down box, and if you really feel compelled to say something, just point out that it's a bot.

Can I just say that I have nothing to do with any spam-bots on this site. I wouldn't even know the first thing about how to even do things like that! I'm only saying this because Incognito suggested that due to my 'absence' the spam-bots have increased.
