Re: Official Playstation Topic
Choosing between PS1 and 2 was brutal, but voted for 2 in the end. PS1 had a large library of quality games and PS2 had even more to offer.
Re: Official Playstation Topic
Lets not forget about the retrocompactibility.
Re: Official Playstation Topic
Retrocompatibility is nice and almost perfect on PS2. Only games I ever occured issues are Crash 3 with a slowed down music and Crash Bash with badly synchronized cutscenes and sound. All other games work awesome in my experience.
Re: Official Playstation Topic
From my PS1 collection, Croc 2 is the only game that experiences compactibility problems in my PS2 (glitched sound effects). At least I have the PC version to play with and emulators to run the PS1 version nicely.
Re: Official Playstation Topic
I ordered from eBay Japanese Croc 1 and super rare Japanese Croc 2 (seller was selling them together). I am curious to know how will Japanese Croc 2 work on my PS2. I do have Japanese Croc 2 PS1 ISO but I used it only on emulator since I did not want to burn it on blank disc and try it on PS2. Now that physical copy will arrive to me, I will look forward to try it on PS2, but I will have to wait a bit since I made a deal with seller to pay on 1st December.
Speaking of Croc and Playstation, I included him on my new Top 10 list that I am currently making (video shall be up tomorrow) It's Top 10 franchise that Sony should buy.

Re: Official Playstation Topic
I got to try the PS4 and play the demo of Knack at my local GAME today. From the brief experience I had with it, the Dualshock 4 is very comfortable and a definite improvement over its predecessor. Knack was also really fun but nothing mind blowing, which is what I initially expected. From what I played, I can already tell it's nowhere near as bad as some reviewers made it out to be, however it's unfortunately not in the same league as the other PlayStation platformers such as Crash and Ratchet. I got a few quick glimpses of the consoles UI and features, but not enough to give a definite judgment, though I did like what I briefly saw. I'd give the Dualshock 4 a 9/10 and Knack somewhere between a 7-8. Still gonna pick it up at launch as I'm certain I'll enjoy the game.

Thank you for stating the truth. All those trash reviewers who reviewed Knack know nothing.Bzzit wrote:I got to try the PS4 and play the demo of Knack at my local GAME today. Anyways my brand new Top 10 is made and please take a look at it everyone. I worked hard on it and hopefully you guys will like it. I might mention some of your favourites here:
Re: Official Playstation Topic
Great video OCG, I agree with many of those (especially Spyro) but I think Banjo and Conker would be best on Nintendo platforms like the N64 days. Also, Sony actually do own the rights to Jak and Daxter, Naughty dog has been owned by Sony since like 2001, so they own all IP's created by Naughty Dog from Jak and Daxter and onwards.
Re: Official Playstation Topic
They do? Didn't know that. I thought ND owns the characters. If thats the case, why does not Sony let ReadyAtDawn make new Jak.
Re: Official Playstation Topic
ReadyAtDawn are currently working on the Order: 1886 for PS4 and most likely have been for a while now. I think they should have a go at Jak 4 once that game's finished though, as they did a fantastic job with Daxter; retaining the lore and feel of the Ps2 games superbly.

Re: Official Playstation Topic
The whole reason there hasn't been a new Jak is because Naughty Dog don't know what to do with the franchise, and it's likely nobody else has any ideas.
I've enjoyed what I played of the first game so far though, so I would probably pick up Jak IV if it came out.

Oh ok. Well we will see what future will give us. As for RareWare, I emailed Nintendo few years back and they told me they will never buy Rare. They told me they agreed with Microsoft's offer and gladly sold it.Bzzit wrote:ReadyAtDawn are currently working on the Order: 1886 for PS4 and most likely have been for a while now. Re: Official Playstation Topic
Yeah I mean the Jak trilogy has been released twice recently, which shows Sony is still very aware of the series popularity and potential. I hope we a Jak X HD somewhere down the line too.
As for Rareware, that's pretty unfortunate, Nintendo would more than likely do the franchises great justice. I remember a few months back Rare stated they had not forgotten franchises such as "Banjo" and "Conker", however if they brought them back on Xbox one, they would more than likely be focused around Kinect. I'm not a fan of the original Kinect or it's concept that much, but if they can create some original games with it that actually work and are fun then that's awesome. However, altering classic platforming franchises significantly so they work primarily around Kinect isn't exactly something I would look forward to, nor would the majority of other fans either.

Re: Official Playstation Topic
Meh, even if Rare attained the freedom it had in days old, something tells me that they've lost so much to the point where it'll be pretty darn impossible to regain that spark. I think many attribute Retro to be the Rare of current days, though they've not really made franchises as influential as Conker and Banjo, merely just making pretty awesome games for Ninty franchises such as Metroid and Donkey Kong.
Re: Official Playstation Topic
I hope too. Jak X Combat Racing had massive save problem in early NTSC and PAL copies. NTSC Greatest Hits version fixed it, but PAL Platinum still had it.Bzzit wrote:Yeah I mean the Jak trilogy has been released twice recently, which shows Sony is still very aware of the series popularity and potential. Re: Official Playstation Topic
I don't want Nintendo to buy back Rare - what people forget is, that it's been over a decade since Rare made their last big Nintendo 64 game (if I'm not mistaken, it's either Conker's Bad Fur Day, or Banjo-Tooie). The staff of Rare has significantly changed since then. It is mostly a totally different company now.
Grant Kirkhope (sp?) and others have already stated they would love to work on a new Banjo-Kazooie, and if I recall correctly, they expressed particular interest in developing for 3DS. If another great game were to be made in the Banjo/Conker franchises, I'd simply want the most important people involved in those games of old to come back with a new team, become a second party to Nintendo, and then have Nintendo buy those IPs (not Rare the company, just the Banjo and Conker IPs). That team could also make another 3D Donkey Kong or something, and help with other Nintendo franchises.
Though even that is wishful thinking - however, what might be more feasible, is if they formed a team, and make spiritual successors to those games. Much like what Keiji Inafune is doing with Mighty No. 9.

Re: Official Playstation Topic
Essentially, have the veterans of Rare, those who were involved in the its heyday, band together and essentially become Ninty's Naughty Dog? That could work.

Re: Official Playstation Topic
It would work in terms of them getting a lot of creative freedom, but I just don't see it actually happening. Nintendo seem to be reluctant when it comes to acquiring companies directly, and only want to make little partnerships with popular third parties (like Ubisoft and Sega). I still cannot fathom how Nintendo lost to Sega when it comes to acquiring Atlus. While Sega are a richer company than people realise, they still have nothing on Nintendo. Yet, Sega has been acquiring quite a few studios and companies since last year, and paying rather high prices for them.
...Actually, there's something to think about...the old Rareware crew working under Sega...Banjo & Kazooie DID appear as a racer in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing (only in the Xbox 360 version, though)...

Re: Official Playstation Topic
Banjo looked like shit in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing. Why not use HD model from XBLA remake?

Re: Official Playstation Topic
I highly disagree, I find the modern redesigns of Banjo characters much more charming than the originals. They stand out more, and the art style is pretty unique and quirky.
