I'm amazed that none of you have picked up on this gem Microsoft attempted to set up (It's gone now but at thank Christ for Kotaku) : http://kotaku.com/microsoft-writes-sill ... 1472882241
Not that I was ever anticipated the Xbox one from the start but that was a pretty shitty ass move from Microsoft, as ironic as it is given they released this advert sometime earlier : http://youtu.be/Vn5u_RJO7YY

Its hard to say, I had played the demo prior to buying it so I knew I was going to enjoy it and will play through it multiple times to get 100%. If I were you I'd try out a demo of it, not entirely sure if there's a demo on the store but some GAME shops have it. I'm sure there will be a price drop for the game sometime soon too, so if your unsure it may be best to wait for that.sonicbrawler182 wrote:Hm, would you say it's recommendable at full price?
I have been enjoying Killzone way more than I thought I would, though. I don't understand the hate for Killzone. The controls are fine. Just because they are not one to one with Call of Duty, does not mean they are bad. And I love OWL. Adds a lot to the experience.
I agree with you on Killzone, the heaviness of the controls and movement adds a lot more realism and satisfaction to the gameplay compared to the floaty arcade like Call of Duty. I've been playing quite a bit of the multiplayer and its extremely fun, everything seems balanced and the maps are superbly designed!

Re: Next-Gen Consoles/Games
Honestly, the console itself is fine. I don't have a problem with it, despite it being less powerful (and I think the difference in power between PS4 and Xbox One is more than negligible, contrary to what I see a lot of people say. Specs speak better than the game comparisons, and even the game comparisons prove that there is a noticeable difference). The Xbone is just looking more and more appealing, isn't it?
I just don't want any of the games on the system.
And I just really don't like Microsoft as a company. Some might call me a biased Xbox hater for saying that. But I'm not. I don't hate Xbox, but I really disapprove of the company involved. And again, that's not bias - that's Microsoft's inability to gain consumer trust. They just stir so much shit, that it's hard to like them. I don't hate them, I'm just plain tired of them. As a console manufacturer, at least.

Given that no one had previously set a very precise point of reference as to what negligible is, out of curiosity, what do you see it as?sonicbrawler182 wrote:I think the difference in power between PS4 and Xbox One is more than negligible, contrary to what I see a lot of people say.

Re: Next-Gen Consoles/Games
I wouldn't call it anything to pick one console over the other over (then again, the Wii U is may favourite of the new generation so far anyway, and my deciding factor is how impressive and fun the exclusives look from a mechanical standpoint, and having variety in both game genres and art styles), but it's definitely something to consider.
And looking at the specs, PS4's GPU is 50% more powerful than the Xbox One's, and while the Xbox One has a slightly higher GPU clock speed, 10% of the Xbox One's GPU is reserved for Kinect.
There is also the RAM - while both consoles have 8GB of total avaliable RAM, PS4 has 5500MHz GDDR5 RAM, while Xbox One uses 2133 MHz DDR3 RAM. However, the Xbox One does have 32MB of embedded SRAM, and if that's used effectively by developers, it does bring it significantly closer to PS4 standards.
To explain what this means in simpler terms, multiplats will look almost identical on both systems, but the PS4 versions will have a higher resolution and, in some cases, better quality textures (the latter is entirely dependent on the game itself). And I have noticed by watching multiplat comparison videos, that colours seem to come out better on the PS4 as a result.
Regarding exclusives, though (a lot of people's main incentive for choosing one console over the other), PS4 exclusives are going to look significantly better than anything the Xbox One will put out. Basically, the next Uncharted will most assuredly look a lot more impressive and groundbreaking (for consoles) than the next Halo. And while neither console has had their full potential tapped into yet, the PS4 launch exclusives are much more impressive looking than the Xbox One's.

I knew itBzzit wrote:Played through a few chapters in Knack. The game is a lot of fun, more so than I expected actually. It's very challenging, I'm only playing on normal and would consider it in the same league as the original Crash Bandicoot and Rayman games in terms of raw difficulty. It's seriously 1 or 2 hits and your dead, but the checkpoints are so forgiving and there's absolutely no load times when you die. I feel a lot of people judge the combat as simple button mashing but there's a lot more to it than simply smashing square. Each combat situation is a little platforming sequence in its self, the game constantly throws new enemies at you and combines them in various ways with the environment, so your always jumping over new obstacles and evading a variety of attacks. I can see it getting ad repetitive later down the line but for now it's very challenging and enjoyable.
The visuals are absolutely gorgeous, everything is so clear and crisp from the environments to Knack himself where each relic that he's made up from is rendered rendered beautifully resulting in an awesome and unique looking character. The game feels very nostalgic to me, whilst playing I attained feelings similar to that i did playing Crash Bandicoot 10 years ago, going hand in hand with the joy of watching a new Pixar film with great characters and a nice narrative to boot. So yeah, I'm liking the game, I'd give it an 8.3/10 so far.
It's not horrible game. I only watched gameplay and I liked it very much. Can't wait to play it when I get PS4.
Very disrespectful.Serza5 wrote:I'm amazed that none of you have picked up on this gem Microsoft attempted to set up (It's gone now but at thank Christ for Kotaku) : http://kotaku.com/microsoft-writes-sill ... 1472882241

Knack's one game I've been looking forward to. The fact that the seventh generation was lacking heavily in decent platformers and action-adventure games was one that caused me to be put off. Granted, the Wii had some, but the Wii never interested me enough.

Re: Next-Gen Consoles/Games
In general, the console seems much more locked-in than the PS4, so that reduces some of the appeal for me, knowing that I will have to resort to a capture card as long as I don't have an Xbox Live account, knowing about the cursing bot, and knowing that it puts Kinect over performance. I honestly don't have enough of a gauge yet as to what console I want to buy, but the Xbox One seems to be losing some of its appeal, for me at least.sonicbrawler182 wrote:Honestly, the console itself is fine. Re: Next-Gen Consoles/Games
We need a Conker's Bad Fur Day sequel, anyone else agreeing here or is it just me?
Re: Next-Gen Consoles/Games
All this talk of which console is better, it's really quite simple.
The PS4 is noticeably more powerful, and the games look amazing. It's a gaming machine, but you can still use Netflix and other apps. And Blu Ray.
Xbox One is still powerful, and games still look great, but lack some of the fidelity of the PS4 versions. It's an awesome device to control the living room, with excellent integration with video apps, cable tv etc. The voice commands also work extremely well and it has a better UI IMO. And Blu Ray.
So, if you ask me nobody wins, just chose the one that appeals to you more and don't worry so much about what other people think.
Personally I think I'll be spending more time with the Xbox over the next few years, Im already used to not using my TV remote anymore and I like it.

I would kill real life squirrels to make that happen.Dark Lum Lord wrote:We need a Conker's Bad Fur Day sequel, anyone else agreeing here or is it just me?
Just kidding, but yes, totally in agreement here.
Re: Next-Gen Consoles/Games
I don't think it should be follow up to original but rather it's own story ignoring events of first one.

Re: Next-Gen Consoles/Games
Complete disagreement on this. I think they should make the sequel that they were originally planning to make, and I wouldn't trust anyone but Gory Detail to develop it.OldClassicGamer wrote:I don't think it should be follow up to original but rather it's own story ignoring events of first one.
However, like Sonicbrawler, I would kill squirrels to see Conker remain alive (and not as a shitty remake).
