Re: Rayman 3 Ripped Textures!
I'm just curious, why didn't you wait until you uploaded them to post this topic? Then you would have avoided a double post had I not posted.
Also, if I recall correctly, Drolpiraat may have already uploaded a full texture pack. Not certain on that though.

Not even close to an answer, but nevermind.WeshKanapesh wrote:not at home atm,
Maps, as in the world geometry? We figured out how to do that already, four years ago, if that's what you're referring to.WeshKanapesh wrote:also I maanged to rip the maps :p

well like that: http://prntscr.com/2i33vg
Re: Rayman 3 Ripped Textures!
Uh, that looks like you captured it from memory with a program like 3D Ripper DX.
Ripping (extracting from the game's files) is quite different, and quite a lot harder... we know how to rip the textures from both PC and GC versions, but if you would really manage to rip the maps (not with a program like 3D Ripper DX), that would be quite amazing!

Oh god, I feel so stupid, yeah :/
But if you say that you know, why you don't do it :p ? Is it too long?

Knew how to rip from memory or the actual levels?WeshKanapesh wrote:But if you say that you know, why you don't do it :p ? Is it too long?
If we're able to somehow open the level files in a text/hex editor and not have it show up as complete garbage, and if we were able to find a pattern (say, where the brush vertex positioning, normal orientation, smoothing groups, UV mapping, etc would be located), we could write some kind of a formula to convert it to geometry. But I dub the feat virtually impossible, as I just thought up this mediocre idea on the spot in a attempt to make myself sound useful.Drolpiraat wrote:Uh, that looks like you captured it from memory with a program like 3D Ripper DX.

Re: Rayman 3 Ripped Textures!
He didn't say that he knew how to do that.
Re: Rayman 3 Ripped Textures!
That's definitely not a mediocre idea, I had the same idea a while ago. Vertex coordinates would be relatively easy to spot. I think I might try it out after my exams.Adsolution wrote:If we're able to somehow open the level files in a text/hex editor and not have it show up as complete garbage, and if we were able to find a pattern (say, where the brush vertex positioning, normal orientation, smoothing groups, UV mapping, etc would be located), we could write some kind of a formula to convert it to geometry. I have ripped the textures from the GC versions of both Rayman Arena and Rayman 3, they're already available... somewhere. I really have no idea where I uploaded them. I think I posted them in both the Rayman 3 and Rayman M topics...WeshKanapesh wrote:I mean rip without software likes ripper 3d DX
You can extract the textures from Rayman 2, M and 3 for PC with this tool: viewtopic.php?t=9640

Re: Rayman 3 Ripped Textures!
Ah, radical! I'm inspired to play around with various things tomorrow to see if I can get anywhere with that myself. However, I've not delved very deep into this kind of reverse-engineering before myself, so I don't expect to get far.Drolpiraat wrote:That's definitely not a mediocre idea, I had the same idea a while ago. Re: Rayman 3 Ripped Textures!
But 3D Ripper DX will be useful for my TAS of Rayman 3. (Actually at knarrens)
