Re: Doctor Who
Ah yes, the scourge of having tapes wiped, and ruining the chance of seeing quite a number of classic Who. Did you ever get round to seeing the City of Death episode Spiral suggested some time back?

Re: Doctor Who
Oh, shoot I should've done that! Was it a link to a video or simply a suggestion of an episode name?

It was a suggestion, I think, but I found the episode on Dailymotion: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9jk9n ... shortfilms

Re: Doctor Who
Wow! It's funny, and exciting and Im only halfway now. I also learned that that 'WRRRRRRRRAAAAPP' you hear when the 'To be continued' is about to roll was already being used way back then!
I love it! Thanks, spiral, Master.

Hmm, I'm not sure what to think. I hold my preference for his over Tennant's, though I'm intrigued about how it could've differed.

from the sound of it, it seems like the regeneration would have been a bit more intense.

Re: Doctor Who
Oooh, interesting. I guess losing a leg would resemble what Tennant went through in his fist episode. xD
You often hear this sort of thing - cuts being made in unexpected cases, sometimes even to the horror of the original director (warranting Director's Cuts).

Re: Doctor Who
Indeed. Man, it's weird, if we were on the normal scheduling, a new series would have just begun right around now, but instead, there's still about 3-4 months to go...

Re: Doctor Who
that just means it'll be better in quality (hopefully). At least its not like the wait that Sherlock fans get at least

Re: Doctor Who
Hmm, true, though I've heard that Series 4 of Sherlock is meant to come much quicker than Series 3 did.
As for quality, I doubt the time made any difference, ever since Series 6 messed things about, schedules have been shifted all over the course of the year, I don't think there were any shifts in quality from back then either.

Re: Doctor Who
No, but my perception on how things were run was shifted! I was massively disappointed when a series would finally begin again but then end about four to six episodes later. "Man, I've been waiting half a year for this? I mean, it's still amazing and I love it but... that's all there is?"
However, if I recall correctly, they were doing it this way because they wanted a back-to-back 'year' of episodes, right?

Re: Doctor Who
Well, apparently this was the reason for Series 6:
But that doesn't explain the mess that happened with Series 7, leaving the majority of 2012 without any new episodes, and now we here in 2014 with the longer wait. The BBC and Steven Moffat have announced today that the transmission of the next series of Doctor Who, in 2011, will be split into two blocks, transmitting in spring and autumn.
The split transmission is the result of a request from Steven Moffat to write a new Doctor Who story arc which involves a big plot twist in the middle of the series. By splitting the series Moffat plans to give viewers one of the most exciting Doctor Who cliffhangers and plot twists ever, leaving them waiting, on the edge of their seats, until the autumn to find out what happens.
Steven Moffat said: “The split series is hugely exciting because viewers will be treated to two premieres, two finales and more event episodes. For the kids it will never be more than a few months to the next Doctor Who! Easter, Autumn, Christmas!!”

Re: Doctor Who
I don't quite remember which episodes came in which series, now that I've watched it in its entirety back-to-back xD
Which ones had these 'massive cliffhangers' Moffat speaks of?

Re: Doctor Who
Series 6 was the one which focused on River Song, the midseason finale was "A Good Man Goes to War"

Bumping, Doctor Who returns in August!
This is a mere teaser trailer, so I don't think there's any spoilers here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01zp3cd

I'm still awaiting Doctor Who (im)patiently every weekend or so when it flashes through my mind that I could've been watching it that Saturday.

Well, only a few more Saturdays to go, huh?
In the meantime, unrelated to Series 8, but funny:
