Re: Rayman 3 scores

Post by Maz »

So, MandM and me are still not fully done investigating CF, but for now, there would be a "relatively easy" way to get a bit more than 110.000 points without the Teleportation-Trick at the moment. I personally think the new Combos might be of interest to everyone, but I'd have to rewrite a few things for a walkthrough... My question now is: Would people around here even be interested in that, or can I save myself from the trouble of remodelling MandM's and my solution?

If anyone's interested, I'd gladly provide said solution by posting it here. Be aware however, that this would not be the best way to play CF...

For one, we could in theory get a bit more than 111.000 points at the moment, but the Combos to do so are hell to play. This walkthrough I'd post would provide nothing more than an easy solution to beat 109.789, if only ever so slightly (there might be one or two difficult Combos though, but that's unavoidable).
Two: As mentioned above, we're still not fully done investigating, but we're getting somewhat close to the end - or so it seems at least.

Maybe people will deem it useless to upload an imperfect walkthrough, but as I said: in case someone's interested, just tell me.

Seeing as this was a second offense, I'd hope that you do stick to those words this time, I'd hate for this to turn into the "boy who cried wolf."

Congratulation to this success!

In my opinion it´s always good to hear/see something about rayman scores. So, if it´s not a hard work, you could post it, it would interest me, but this is not very important to me, so, if i would be the only one with interest, you needn´t write this. However, thanks for the offer. :)

Again, i´m having some questions. Hopefully the last time for a while.

1:@Maz and MandM: Do you only not want to use the teleportation trick or do you not want to use the two launching glitches in CF1, too?

2: Is it possible to do sth. wrong in the "Razoff-glitch-combo"? The last three weeks (about 200 tries) i was neither able to succeed in a double glitch, nor in a triple glitch. :(
The way i´m playing: I´m hitting razoff with a fully charged fist, collecting the 4 gems, running to razoff, shooting as fast as i can and hoping, that he will jump at the right moment. Is there sth. else i have to do or am i doing sth. wrong? Is there a systematics at the time when razoff is jumping?

3: (especially to speedrunners) In BOM4: Is it possible to reach the upper level (where most of the enemies are (5 Muddibogs, 2 Slapdashes ...)), except by using the hook (e.g. with a launching glitch)? I don´t want to kill any enemy before reaching this level. If this would be possible, i could maybe reach approximately 93000 after BOM5 with only using the double glitch. So i wouldn´t need to do the triple glitch. :partyhat:

4: @ SJ-experts: How can you know, whether a SJ is possible in a certain place. Do you have to try this or can you know it before trying it.

Before i´ll forget: Thanks Cut for answer 2b) and 2c) (some pages back). Sorry for the late answer, but better later, than never. :)

I have nothing against SJs per se. The exercise was making a walkthrough to see how far you could take the "classic" way of playing R3, if you could beat the old maximum without using SJs.

That's the way I play as well. I guess you have to succeed a few times before you get the feel for the timing. Just be patient and keep at it. :D

Yes. I think it's shown in one of the speedrunner videos.

Thank you 1234! :)

I'll post it this weekend, but there's a small problem: Not only did my PC for some reason erase the walkthrough I had saved, but also, my Score-Sheets for the easier versions of the Combos are mysteriously gone. I'll write a new walkthrough, but since I'm not at all in the mood to calculate the easier Combos all over, I will post the hard versions which will lead to a Score of 111.000+. I hope that's okay with you.

Yes. I think it's shown in one of the speedrunner videos.
1: Thank you MandM for the answers.
2: Do you (or someone) know, how you can reach this level or do you remember what the title of this video is?
Hopefully this video is not showing a GW and hopefully the enemies in this upper level will appear, because my motivation playing BOM5 another ~ 500 times is not really high.

Strange thing... Anyway, just take the time you need and thanks for rewriting this walkthrough.

Sure it is. In my opinion the harder version would be even better. :D

I actually don't remember which video it is. It's not a GW, it's a pure SJ. :)

Clearleaf Forest
A Walkthrough by MandM1981 and Maz (Assisted by 1234)

Part 1

Move towards the tall building in front of you. By doing so, you will lure 2 Hoodblasters into the room. Once they've arrived, prepare for the first Combo.

The Hoodblaster-Combo:
  • Break the Pig next to the staircase.
  • Head towards the 2 remaining Piggybanks, and break them as well.
  • Collect the Yellow Gems before killing the Hoodblaster on the ground.
  • Finish off the second Hoodblaster. Make sure to get as close to the door as possible.
  • Hit the switch. Use the now ascending platform to jump up before hanging onto the ceiling. Then, proceed by taking the next 5 Gems.
  • This Combo is worth 590 Points. (960 Points)
Hit the other switch as well in order to pass through the small hole. Drop down without taking any more Gems. Free the Teensie and have him provide the Vortex-Powersuit. Equip the Vortex thereafter, and wait for the nearby gate to open. Finally, walk down the newly revealed pathway while avoiding to collect any of the Yellow Gems.

The Mushroom-Combo:
  • Climb the stairs in front of the building. Once you're halfway done, jump backwards while sending a curved shot towards the Mushroom.
  • Go back into the tunnel, but take all the Gems this time.
  • Once you've taken the final Gem, helicopter towards the Gem hanging from the ceiling. If done correctly, you should take the Gem while hanging onto the net.
  • Take the remaining Yellow Gems before having the Powersuit run out.
  • This Combo is worth 240 Points. (1.380 Points)
Go back to the Mushroom, and use it to enter the second floor. Turn left to find a wooden bridge. Strafe towards the Wooden Door at its other end in order to pass the Gems for now. A cutscene showing 2 Hoodblaster entering the room will be triggered. As soon as it ends, get back to the main area by once again passing everything on the bridge. Turn to the right, and find another Cage.

The Matuvu-Combo:
  • Break the Cage before getting back on the bridge. Pass the first Gem, and start off by taking the 2 other ones.
  • Run towards the Hoodblaster standing between 2 stacks of boxes. Collect the remaining Yellow Gem on your way.
  • Kill the Hoodblaster, and equip the Heavy-Metal-Fist thereafter.
  • Take the Gems provided by the Teensie.
  • Finish off the second Hoodblaster.
  • Renew the Heavy-Metal-Fist before running towards the opposite side of the room. Break the Wooden Door around there.
  • Break the Piggybank in front of you, before locking onto the one behind the boxes. Send a curved shot towards it.
  • As soon as you release your fist, get into a position in-between the ground and the first step of the small staircase at the entrance to this room. Activate the Look-Mode. If you stand correctly, you'll be able to get the Matuvu.
  • Break the remaining Piggybanks, and take all the Yellow Gems.
  • This Combo is worth 6.160 Points. (9.140 Points)
Renew the Heavy-Metal-Fist. Now, break the remaining Wooden Door, and fall down towards the last area. Naturally, you are to take all the Gems on your way down. (9.440 Points)

Don't break the Pig in front of you yet. Instead, head towards the group of Hoodblasters which you should be able to see in the distance. It's time for the final Combo now.

The Hoodblaster-Matuvu-Combo:
  • There's 4 Yellow Gems underneath the roof. Start off by taking the one in the upper corner, and proceed counterclockwise.
  • After collecting the last Gem, head towards the 2 nearby Piggybanks. On your way, turn around in order to send a curved shot towards the Pig hidden behind a wall.
  • Break aforementioned Piggybanks, and take all the Gems.
  • Kill the Hoodblaster standing on the box, and collect the Red Gem which is just about to disappear.
  • Finish off the Hoodblaster next to you. Another Hoodblaster will jump down the boxes.
  • Kill that Hoodblaster. Turn around and cross the bridge. Once you've passed half of it, finish off the last Hoodblaster.
  • Quickly climb up to the starting point, and break the Piggybank.
  • Take the Gems before falling down again. If done correctly, you will collect the lone Yellow Gem on a box underneath the small scaffolding.
  • Take the 2 remaining Gems.
  • Get down to the ground, and look into the general direction of the Matuvu. Send a curved shot towards the Pig before activating the Look-Mode and getting the Matuvu.
  • Finally, collect the 3 Yellow Gems.
  • This Combo is worth 3.600 Points (14.080 Points)
Ride up the waterfall, and finish Part 1.

Part 2

Don't take anything in this room yet. Instead, head towards the 3 Piggybanks next to the Wooden Door. Use them to reach the upper floor. You can do so by either jumping or performing a Launching Glitch. Once you've managed to get up there, cross the bridge, and jump onto the spiderweb, thus luring the Hoodblaster into the right position. Follow him, and close in on the group of Pigs standing closeby. This is where the first Combo begins.

The Green-Gem-Combo:
  • Break the 2 Piggybanks standing furthest to the left.
  • Take the Gems and break the Pig closest to the cave's entrance as well.
  • Collect the 3 Yellow Gems before finishing off the Hoodblaster sleeping closeby.
  • Quickly equip the Heavy-Metal-Fist. Strafe backwards in order to get closer to the Hoodblaster standing on the bridge before sending a curved shot towards the Wooden Door.
  • After the triggered cinematic ends, kill said Hoodblaster with another curved shot.
  • Helicopter towards and hang onto the edge of the wooden pathway. Climb up, and move towards the Wooden Door. On your way, turn around in order to break the Piggybank.
  • Open the Wooden Door. Jump onto the small platform, and break the Cage.
  • Roll off the edge to take the Red Gem on top of the Mushroom.
  • Jump back up before finally rolling towards, and thus collecting, the Green Gem.
  • This Combo is worth 10.240 Points. (27.910 Points)
Renew the Heavy-Metal-Fist. Get down to the ground once again, and break the last Wooden Door. (27.930 Points)

Renew the Heavy-Metal-Fist once again. Walk through the pathway which lay behind the Wooden Door, and take the Gems. As soon as you've taken the fourth Yellow Gem, turn right before rolling off the edge in order to get the 2 Gems underneath the waterfall with the Combo-Mode still intact. (28.170 Points)

Helicopter your way through this area, until you reach a platform that has a Cage on it. Break it, and have the Teensie provide the Lockjaw. Equip it, and use the nearby Hook to reach the next platform.

The Matuvu-Tribelle-Combo:
  • Take the Yellow Gem on the netting.
  • Break the nearby Piggybank, and take the Gems.
  • Run across the wooden bridge. Collect the 2 Yellow Gems on your way.
  • Jump towards the spiderweb. You have to take the Red Gem while bouncing off of it. Briefly helicoptering shortly before landing will significantly increase your chance to do so.
  • Finish off the Hoodblaster.
  • Fall down to the ground. A Slapdash will appear. Run towards the wooden ladder, but turn around once you've reached the platform next to the one the Slapdash's standing on. Then, activate the Look-Mode, and get the Matuvu.
  • Send a curved shot sowards the Slapdash.
  • Climb up the wooden ladder. Lock onto the Piggybank before falling down to where the 3 Yellow Gems are. Collect the 2 of them which are closest to the Pig.
  • Strafe towards a spot right to the remaining Gem. Helicopter to the right while still holding the Strafe-Button. By doing so, you will automatically take said Gem at the moment of taking off.
  • Just as you're about to land on the platform below you, send a curved shot towards the Piggybank.
  • Quickly jump towards the wooden ladder, and take the first 3 Gems placed on it.
  • Jump up once you're close to the fourth Gem. Take it in mid-air, and fall down in order to break the nearby Piggybank.
  • Hang onto the edge of the platform the Pig was standing on. Proceed by helicoptering towards the Tribelle. Make sure to collect the 3 newly provided Yellow Gems on your way.
  • Finally, helicopter into the Tribelle.
  • This Combo is worth 5.300 Points. (35.230 Points)
Renew the Lockjaw. Quickly head towards the first room thereafter. What now follows is the biggest Combo in this Part.

The Ground-Floor-Combo:
  • Break the 2 Piggybanks on the upper floor.
  • Take the Yellow Gems, and fall down to find another 4 Gems.
  • Collect those Gems before breaking 2 of the Pigy next to the small cave.
  • Take those Yellow Gems as well.
  • Break the Piggybanks inside the cave.
  • Collect all the Gems. Make sure to take the Red Gems only after having collected at least 20 items beforehand.
  • Break the remaining Piggybank next to the cave. Take the Gem.
  • Kill the Hoodblaster standing closeby.
  • Move on to the Mushroom's location. Finish off the 2 Hoodblasters around there.
  • Make your way into the small cave next to the Mushroom. Once you're inside of it, take all the Yellow Gems.
  • Exit the cave, and kill the incoming Hoodblaster which should be just about to land.
  • Equip the Vortex. Now quickly head towards the small scaffolding to the right, and climb to the top. On your way there, send a curved shot towards the Piggybnak underneath the wooden planks.
  • After having climbed all the way up, take the 3 yellow Gems next to the scaffolding.
  • Roll off the edge in order to collect the Gems from within the Pig you just broke.
  • Take the nearby Red Gem.
  • Head towards the remaining 3 Pigs. Break the one closest to you. Charge your fist ever so slightly in order to break only this one Piggybank.
  • Take the Gem before placing yourself behind the second Piggybank.
  • Break said Pig with a fully charged fist. By doing so, the effect of the Vortex will cause the other Piggybank to break as well.
  • Immediately after releasing your fist, activate the Look-Mode, and look for the Matuvu. Once you've found it, get out of the Look-Mode and quickly re-activate it. By doing so, you will take one of the Gems provided by the Piggybank.
  • Get the Matuvu.
  • Take the remaining Yellow Gems.
  • This Combo is worth 11.480 Points. (49.450 Points)
Lower the Mushroom. (49.470 Points)

Renew the Vortex, and get back to this Part's starting point. Try not to take any Gems on your way up. Once you've arrived at the top, take the lone Yellow Gem hidden behind the stones. Proceed by jumping down the msuhrooms while taking the 2 Gems. Finally, break the Pig next to the mushrooms before collecting the Yellow Gems. (49.770 Points)

Renew the Vortex, and take the 2 Yellow Gems behind the boxes. (49.830 Points)

Renew the Lockjaw. Use the numerous Hooks to reach the cave high up the mountain wall. Take the 3 Yellow Gems in there before strafing into the Tribelle. (50.930 Points)

Helicopter towards the platform below. Take the 3 Gems on the wooden bridge. (51.110 Points)

Use the last Hook to reach the final area. Once you've arrived, you'll find a small ledge to the left with 3 Yellow Gems on it. Collect them, and roll off the edge afterwards in order to take the nearby Red Gem in Combo-Mode. (51.330 Points)

Get back to the area with the river. Fall down to find a Piggybank on the green bit. Break it, and collect the Gems before finally rolling off the edge, and taking the Red Gem thereafter. (51.590 Points)

Renew the Lockjaw, and head towards the final area once more. Enter the room with the Hoodblasters, and turn to the far right. You'll find a gate which has a hole in it. Make the Hoodblasters aware of your presence by shooting your fist through said hole. As soon as the gate opens, free the Teensie.

Equip the Heavy-Metal-Fist, and break the Wooden Door on the opposite side of the room. (51.610 Points)

You will now have access to the final room. Renew the Lockjaw once more before entering it.

The Hoodblaster-Combo:
  • Take the Gems underneath the Plum. Start off by taking the one at the very end, and proceed by collecting the other Gems while heading back towards the room with the Hoodblasters.
  • Once you've passed the corner in the mountain wall, turn around, and break the Piggybank which is further away from you.
  • Hit the Strafe-Button to lock onto the other Piggybank. Strafe towards the other room, and break said Pig before the Combo-Mode runs out.
  • Run towards the other room. Once you've almost passed the now broken Wooden Door, send a curved shot towards the Pig on the scaffolding without having the Combo-Mode run out.
  • Break the 2 remaining Piggybanks as well, and take all the Gems.
  • Fall down to the ground in order to kill the nearby Hoodblaster.
  • Finish off the 2 other Hoodblasters in this room.
  • Equip the Heavy-Metal-Fist before killing the Hoodblaster next to you.
  • Head back towards the place where the Wooden Door once was. A group of Hoodblasters will join the room in the process. Finish them off.
  • Turn right at the Wooden Door. You'll find a small pathway there with a stone at its end. Approach it. When closing in, a Slapdash will appear. Kill it.
  • Finally, take the Red Gem hidden behind aforementioned stone.
  • This Combo is worth 9.620 Points. (63.870 Points)
Renew the Lockjaw one more time, and return to the final room. Shoot down the plum before picking it up in order to throw it on the stick. Take the 3 gems on the upper floor. (63.970 Points)

Finish Part 2.

Part 3

Enter the room in front of you. Kill the Hoodblaster, and equip the freshly provided Shock Rocket. Turn around, and shoot the Lever in Combo-Mode. (64.220 Points)

Shoot the 3 portraits. (64.280 Points)

Since all the gates are openend now, you'll have access to the next room. For now, ignore everthing in there, and head towards the next area. A cutscene showing a Hoodboom and his 2 lackeys will be triggered.

As soon as the cinematic ends, position yourself in front of the Mushroom. The idea is to jump towards the Mushroom once the Hoodblasters are about to shoot at you. By doing so, you will get hit in mid-air, which will result in you being launched onto the Mushroom. This is referred to as the Mushroom-Trick. Once you've managed to do it, equip the Lockjaw. (64.279 Points)

Use the Hook to get onto the scaffolding. Then, climb the ladder, and hit the Lever. (64.339 Points)

The Piggybank-Combo:
  • Break all the Piggybanks.
  • Take the Gems. Make sure that you have collected at least 20 items before taking the Red Gems.
  • Kill the Hoodblaster standing on top of a box.
  • Equip the Heavy-Metal-Fist before finishing off the Hoodmonger standing closeby as well.
  • Quickly head towards the very first room, and collect the Gems inside the trap hole.
  • This Combo is worth 5.780 Points (71.599 Points)
Renew the Lockjaw. Jump onto the small platform next to the barrel of plum juice. Helicopter towards the floor above. From there, continue climbing up until you reach the top floor. You'll find 4 Yellow Gems there.

The Cave-Combo:
  • Take one of the Gems near the edge, then take the two ones near the wall before finally taking the second Gem close to the edge. Fall down.
  • Break the Piggybank in front of you.
  • Take the Yellow Gems at the waterplace.
  • Break the second Piggybank as well.
  • Take the Gems, and head towards the small cave where the Matuvu resides.
  • Jump up, and send a curved shot towards the Piggybank in the middle.
  • Run into the cave, and take the Gems.
  • This Combo is worth 1.140 Points. (73.179 Points)
Renew the Lockjaw. Helicopter towards the second floor again, but this time, walk down the pathway. You'll see a stack of boxes. Walk around the boxes clockwise in order to not make the Hoodblaster to the right aware of your presence. Climb to the top. If you look around, you'll see a Wooden Door with a group of Gems next to it as well as 2 similar groups of Gems. To make things easier to understand, I will refer to those groups like this:

"Group A": The Gems next to the Wooden Door.
"Group B": Moving clockwise, the next group of Gems.
"Group C": The remaining Gems.

Now use the nearby ladder to climb to the very top. What's required now is to reach the opposite side of the pathway without taking any of the Gems. Do so by helicoptering towards the spaces in-between the Yellow Gems. Once you've reached the other side, fall to the ground, and weaken the Hoodblaster running around the boxes twice. After that, climb back up using another ladder. Pass the Gems once again in order to renew the Lockjaw before returning to this room. Prepare for one of the hardest Combos in the whole Game.

The Hoodblaster-Matuvu-Combo:
  • Climb up the boxes once again, but this time, take the 3 Yellow Gems.
  • Hang onto the ceiling, and take the 4 Gems hanging from it.
  • Hit the Lever.
  • Fall down, and break the two nearby Piggybanks.
  • Take the Gems before finishing off the Hoodblaster standing closeby.
  • Enter the Look-Mode, and take the Matuvu.
  • Head towards the second Hoodblaster. Once you're close enough, send a curved shot towards him.
  • Head towards the small trapdoor. Fall down again, and break the Cage while doing so. Also, take the 2 Yellow Gems this time.
  • Equip the Heavy-Metal-Fist. Finish off the Hoodblaster standing on top of the boxes.
  • Get onto the boxes. Collect "Group B".
  • Roll off, and break the Piggybank next to you.
  • Take the Gems before killing the nearby Hoodblaster.
  • Jump onto the barrels standing closeby. Get close to the edge, and jump upwards. If done correctly, you will go through the roof, enableing you to take "Group C". The Powersuit will run out at this point.
  • Fall down, and renew the Heavy-Metal-Fist before quickly collecting the 3 Gems on the nearby barrels.
  • Jump onto the boxes, and send a curved shot towards the remaining Hoodblaster.
  • Quickly climb up the boxes in order to break the Wooden Door at the top.
  • Finally, helicopter towards and take "Group A".
  • This Combo is worth 9.820 Points. (85.599 Points)
Climb to the top of the boxes once more. Free the Teensie to get access to yet another Heavy-Metal-Fist. Climb up the ladder, and, after walking down the pathway again, fall down in order to break another Wooden Door. (85.619 Points)

Free the Teensie, and equip the newly provided Heavy-Metal-Fist. Use it to destroy the remaining Wooden Door. (85.639 Points)

Renew the Lockjaw. Climb up to the floor above once again, and break the Cage by means of a curved shot. The Teensie will then provide a Green Gem. Renew the Lockjaw one last time. Now follows the Combo which lets you reach the final Score.

The final Combo:
  • Roll off the Mushroom, and break the Piggybank.
  • Take the Gems before finishing off the Hoodblaster next to you.
  • Walk towards the two big stones in the center of the room. On your way, turn around, and kill the second Hoodblaster.
  • Proceed running towards aforementioned stones. Once you've reach them, turn around, jump up, and send a curved shot towards the Hoodblaster running along the pathway.
  • Take the Green Gem.
  • Get onto the floor above, and break the lone Pig to the left.
  • Take the Gems, and head towards the two remaining Piggybanks. Break them as well.
  • Take the Yellow Gems before finishing off the Hoodblaster below with a curved shot.
  • Run towards the floor above. After hanging onto the edge, helicopter towards the second Yellow Gem.
  • Strafe into the Tribelle.
  • Take the remaining Gem, and fall down to the ground. Kill the Hoodblaster next to you.
  • As soon as the short cutscene ends, jump onto the barrel of plum juice. Helicopter backwards and to the right in order to hit the Hoodbom with a curved shot. Electrocute him.
  • Run towards the Slapdash. On your way, turn towards the direction of the cave, and enter the Look-Mode in order to get the Matuvu.
  • Finish off the Slapdash.
  • Equip the Vortex, and lower the Mushroom.
  • Quickly head towards the small cave which has a Tribelle in it. Hit the Strafe-Button, and collect the 2 Yellow Gems.
  • Finally, strafe into the Tribelle.
  • This Combo is worth 22.600 Points. (114.799 Points)
Return to the final room, and pass by the remains of the Wooden Door. Finish Part 3.

Since you've passed 99.999 Points, it's impossible to keep scoring. With that being said, just go through the other Parts without having to worry about your performance.

Re: Rayman 3 scores

Just like to say a huge thank you to Maz and M&M for composing this comprehensive solution. It was fascinating to read the improvements, particularly in parts 1 and 2, although some of those combos sound extremely difficult.

I am still eagerly reading this thread, and to answer a previous post I still have a keen interest to fire up the game once again, but it is proving to be difficult with the time constraints I am currently dealing with - some of you may know I am in the process of moving to a different town with my partner, and thus switching jobs. I will also need to purchase a new ps2 cd and a controller, as the old ones are no longer fully functioning (probably as a result of throwing them and torturing them because of failed combos in the past...) But it is still on the agenda, maybe in a few weeks, a few months or a year.

Anyway, just wanted to drop by to say a big thank you to all the contributors of the above solution. And it's great to see new faces around here too :D
