Exactly. Hence why I said that it would be a quite dangerous request to do right now knowing what kind of stuff are in fashion in the entertainment departments nowadays. So I'm literally "between the sword and the wall", as a popular expression says around here.

And besides, Rayman 1 is a game that aged well. I still play it in 2014 and enjoying it as much as I did fourteen years ago. If there was a way I would like to see a remake (not reboot: remake), it would be in the same treatment that Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee had. I would also rather have the art style of the game untouched because it would end up really bad if it was transformed into the RO/RL style.

Yes, but I'm sure there was another piece of text not within the game itself but in some advertisement for R2 that mentioned something about someone trying to capture Rayman for an alien zoo or something. I recall someone buying one of the R1 educational spinoffs and that being included with the manual, which is kind of ironic. I need to find it.

The "alien zoo" concept was scrapped before release. It was changed to an "intergalactic circus", which made it sound like an Animated Series tie-in, but then they did away with the idea altogether.

"Between a rock and a hard place" is the English equivalent. ;)

Yeah, and it's a lot less dramatic. But it is somewhat more poetic.

Yup, Rayman 2 was what introduced me into the series and Rayman Origins is what made me love it!

Ah, so that's the English equivalent! :D Thanks. It sounds different in English, but it is the same real meaning.

As vague of a title as it is, though, and its less than glorious origin, it is good that the Rayman 1 world at least has a name. The Rayman 2 prototype, from what I can remember, called it Rayman's island. Now wouldn't that have been tragic. Or worse, we would've stuck with... Hereitscool...

But that raises some interesting points about the possibility of the Archipellago indeed being the Rayman 1 Valley.

I had an interesting thought. Rayman 2 claims that no-one knew what Rayman was or where he came from when he arrived, but doesn't it also claim that, at least as of the events in that game, his origin was still a mystery? That begs the question, wouldn't Rayman have told someone where he came from or at least that there were others like him? Is it possible that Rayman had amnesia when he arrived on the shore of the Glade?

The Rayman 2 manual states that Rayman doesn't have any primordial knowledge as well, I believe. Either that or it's strongly implied.

Well, primordial knowledge implies knowledge about how the Universe was before life, before time, before creation (interpret that however), i.e. before the world even existed. But primordial 'unknowledge' about one's self is - perhaps - an apt way to describe what it must be like to not know where you came from.
