If I knew the game wasn't made by Ubisoft, I wouldn't even state that it would run on an engine made by that company! XDsaerleiya wrote:Meh, if Ubisoft chose to develop a new one specifically for PK, then why not? But you are probably right. The issue was I didn't know Pk was created by Ubisoft when I I answered you back then XD...Wiiola wrote:So it doesn't have to be the same engine?
And, well, from what I remember another Donald Duck was proven to run on the Rayman 2 engine (and even has a boss that partially behaves the way Foutch does, at least until you get to the shooting part of the fight), so I don't see why they wouldn't adjust some stuff to make that other game at least a bit different from the Rayman series, too.
Also, the first boss from PK somehow reminded me of the underwater boss from Rayman 3. Could be because of the lasers, that appear during a part of the fight.
Pikappa is a reboot of the PKNA, and it's generally not liked among fans for not being half of what PKNA used to be in their eyes. Not to mention how PK2, sequel to PKNA, had to be rushed to conclusion thanks to executive meddling. The story for Pikappa (and the draft, that was bundled with UK copies of the PK game for Gamecube) was being worked on sometime during the last 6-8 months of PK2's run, hence the possibility of the game being based on that draft - as I call it - I'd linked to.saerleiya wrote:I actually discovered PK with the Pikappa version (only the first three issues though, I wasn't the one buying "Super Giant Scrooge" at that time, the French magazine for Donald, Mickey and co). First two were great, but the design change in the third one caught me a bit off-guard, plus the plot hadn't anything related to Evronians, which was a bit disturbing for a 10 year-old kid (but I liked the story with the 'clone'). Well, maybe I should buy all the issues at some point, it's probably one of the few comic series about Disney characters that I like (and Dimension M, maybe).Wiiola wrote:Agreed with you. The game had so much more potential, had it been based more on the PKNA even (which was originally run in 1996-2001, along with its successor, PK2, which ran from 2001 to 2002) - now that would make for something epic, instead of going for a half-cooked idea based on a scrapped prologue for what would eventually become Pikappa (and first 13-20 issues were translated to Superduck in English).
What's sure is that i don't know as much about all Donald adventures as you do: I didn't know there were series on PK before the Pikappa one.
Currently they're trying to remedy the rushed story of PK2 with how PKNE (PK New Era) is planned to come out (and the first 4-parter already out).
I still can barely believe that Fethry's French name is Popop, and his alter-ego's - Super Popop! XD I think only the Italian one for the Red Bat tops it, since he's called Paper Bat there, which in English looks a bit strange (but in Italian it has an ounce of sense, seeing as the 'Paper' part of the name comes from the word 'papero', which is generally used for puns with ducks).
As for me, I initially had two pocketbooks that had two stories with Donald as the hero, and they weren't connected at all. I was curious about whether there's more stories with Superduck and found out that there were. Since that was also a way of dealing with panic attacks for me, too, I had a lot of motivation to find out more about them. Now I have a rather big collection of then, LOL.
I think that a story, where one of the Beagle Boys is a big fan of Superduck, is the most bizzare one. Not even a medieval incarnation of the duck as someone who fights against Magica (and apparently witches/wizards in general) tops that.
And by the story with the clone, did you mean Donald's - that was actually an android version of him - or a completely different one?
Because the third story from the Pikappa series was actually about him going to an alternate universe that turned out to be a world made by a scientist, who wanted to escape reality and formed a world of his own, unknowingly endangering the real world.
There's a chance that the third story didn't have to be from Pikappa at all (since even as of now, there's actually hundreds of stories with Donald as Superduck). I might be wrong about it, though, since the series seemed to be released regularly.
