Re: German Occupation Mafia - Post-Game Discussion
Yay, we won ! That bastard Aviator fooled me though. It was quite nice not being trusted by anyone.
Re: German Occupation Mafia - Post-Game Discussion
Haha, Yep, I was Aviator. Though, it was pretty hard to avoid while being a one-man-show. And though the fake roles the others had weren't as convincing as mine, I did feel I had the slight upper hand considering I actually did research Norwegian Aviation at my library just for this topic.
Re: German Occupation Mafia - Post-Game Discussion
Here's everyone's real identities and role PM's:
The Resistance
Aviator - Phoenixan
Bartholomew - Matyuv
The Resistance
Aviator - Phoenixan
Goldfish - SuperSunshineRole PM wrote:Aviator
You are Gunnar "The Chin" Sønsteby. You are a young man at the outbreak of the war, but you are eager to fight the Germans from day one, and you quickly rise through the ranks of the Resistance, taking part in many sabotage operations, including the destruction of the State Archives, which prevented the Germans from forcefully enrolling several thousand Norwegians into the German army. Thanks to your high social intelligence and highly developed conversational skills you manage to build a huge network of allies around you while remaining undercover. If you live to see the end of the war you will become the most decorated man in the history of Norway, receiving the War Cross with three swords.
At night, you may use your talents to persuade another user to do your bidding. Send a PM to me entitled "Night X - Persuade User". In the body of the PM, you have a number of options.
- Write whatever you want in "inverted commas". The user will then have to say whatever you typed in the Mafia thread.
- Write "Lynch [user]" in bold font. The player will be forced to vote for whoever you told them to in the next Day's Lynch. This ability can only be used once throughout the entire game.
- Write "Silence" In Italic font. The user will be silenced, meaning they can not speak in the Mafia thread, vote for Lynches, or discuss the game with anyone in any form, etc.
- Write "Redirect to [user]". If that player uses a Night Action, they will target whoever you told them to instead of their intended target. You can not redirect a “Kill-PM”.
If the user does not comply, they will be godkilled and removed from the game.
If you do not wish to do anything at night, send a PM to me entitled "Night X - Idling".
Ping Pong - Rayman4321Role PM wrote:Goldfish
You are Max Manus. You are a highly skilled saboteur, a member of the so-called “Oslo Gang”, a group a saboteurs who caused considerable damage to a number of German facilities during the war.
At night, you may use your talents to sabotage another user. To do this, send me a PM entitled “Night X – Sabotage [user]”. You will blow up a car, a boat or a railway line, causing the concerned user to be stuck in one location for the duration of the night, and thus he won’t be able to use any Night Actions.
If you do not wish to do anything at night, send a PM to me entitled "Night X - Idling".

You are Jens Christian Hauge. You are the leader of Milorg, the armed branch of the Norwegian
resistance, and so you are the highest ranked resistance fighter in the country. You are relatively
young, only 24 when Germany invades Norway, but you are already a highly skilled politician
and military tactician. After the war is over you will go on to serve terms as both Norwegian
Minister of Defense and Minister of Justice. If you live, that is...
You do not have any particular night actions. However, your home base is in England with the
exiled government, and you spend every night there. For this reason, all attempts made by an
inspector to investigate you will fail. Because you don't have any Night Actions, it is also
recommended that you carry out the kills for the Resistance.
If you do not wish to do anything at night, send a PM to me entitled "Night X - Idling".

You are Generaloberst Nikolaus von Falkenhorst. You are the commander of all the Wehrmacht troops stationed in Norway during the occupation, about 400 000 soldiers. Since you have the supreme command over such a huge military force, you cooperate closely with the de facto political leader of Norway, Josef Terboven, and you know his identity from the start. Josef Terboven is Hamlet.
You are a part of the Occupational Force (“villagers”). You win if the Resistance is eliminated.
As of now, you see the Norwegian Resistance as more of a nuisance than a real threat, and you are content to leave the fight against them to people lower down in the system, such as the Norwegian puppet government. However, if the Resistance fighters should manage to kill your closest friend and ally, Reichskommisar Terboven, you will put your enourmous army to use.
If Terboven is killed either by the Resitance or through a lynch, you may start killing at night. To do this you send me a PM entitled “Night X – Kill [user]”.
If you do not wish to kill anyone at night, send a PM to me entitled "Night X - Idling". You don't have to do this unless Hamlet is dead.

Among other things you oversee the deportation of the Jews living in Norway, and you encourage SS soldiers to have babies with Norwegian women in order to strengthen the Aryan race.
You are a part of the Occupational Force (“villagers”). You win if the Resistance is eliminated.
At Night, you may use your elite troops to protect another user from any assassination attempts made by the Norwegian Resistance. To do this you send me a PM entitled “Night X – Protect [user]”. If someone tries to kill that user during the night, they will fail. You can not protect yourself.

As leader of the government you hold some power, but in reality you have to do as Terboven tells you, and are really just a puppet for the Germans. After the war is over you will be executed for high treason, and your surname will be used as a synonym for ‘traitor’ by Norwegian and British newspapers.
You are a part of the Occupational Force (“villagers”). You win if the Resistance is eliminated.
You do not have any particular Night Actions, but since you have a great deal of influence among Norwegian Nationalists your vote counts as two when voting for lynches.

During the war, you write several Hitler- and Germany-friendly articles in the heavily censored Norwegian newspapers, including a eulogy for Adolf Hitler on the day after his suicide.

I was a bit hesitant to kill you because I thought you could've redirected me on someone; luckily that wasn't even possible

Haha, I really underestimated what powers the resistance had then.
*edit*
Well, actually, I took him out because I figured out he was the inspector, and if I took him out first, then maybe he wouldn't be able to inspect anyone further (that was actually why I targeted Hamlet before, because I narrowed it down to either him or Lakitu). Haha, wrong priorities I guess.

The Resitance fucked thing up for themselves when they walked into Diplodocus' trap on Night 1 and tried to kill Bartholomew instead of him.
Re: German Occupation Mafia - Post-Game Discussion
Yeah, that really did mess us up. I was hoping that Ping Pong would target one of the "smaller fish," but instead, he went right for Bartholomew.
Though I thought at the time, "oh well, we got some information about him being under body guard already." Oh, and since I only mailed out my fake role to a few people, including my fellow resistance members.
The only other ability I think I used was Silence, at the near start, while we tried to scramble to frame someone... didn't work out because of the fake roles going about.Aviator
You are Tryggve Gran. You are a Norwegian pilot, explorer, and author. You fought with the Royal Flying Corps during World War I; however, you worked to support Nasjonal Samling (The National Socialist Party) during the occupation of Norway in WWII. Wasn't Ping Pong the mole given a believable fake PM?
Oh and what exactly happened on Night 1? lol

Re: German Occupation Mafia - Post-Game Discussion
Well, to my understanding, he decided to write a full fake role to convince everyone that he was part of the occupational force, instead of just giving out a name. He can explain it if he replies here.
It was my first time being a mafia member though, too, so I kind of had to catch wind of everything and hope I was going with the flow properly.
Unfortunately, we could have used Goldfish more, but I guess because of timezones or inactivity, we had some problems communicating. For instance, when I found out who the body guard was (after Ping Pong died), he was going to kill Bartholomew while I redirected the body guards somewhere else. However, he decided to sabotage instead, so I ended up making the kill.

Re: German Occupation Mafia - Post-Game Discussion
No, I didn't give Ping Pong a fake role PM. I was counting on him to produce his own.
On Night 1, Ping Pong tried to kill you, but you were protected by Diplodocus, so he failed. The best move would obviously have been to kill Diplodocus right away, but I presume Ping Pong thought he was protected by a bodyguard, so he tried to kill you instead.
Detailed analasysis of the game and HoFame/Fail coming up later. Your fellow Resistance fighters will definitely be featured in one of them, Phoe.

Re: German Occupation Mafia - Post-Game Discussion
Well, actually, that was while I was coming up with my own things, hitting the library, and I suggested that he check around Wikipedia or history sites to see if he could dig up anything to calmly think things over before acting.
Then he sends me this PM:
Haha, will I be featured anywhere?
Then he sends me this PM:
*edit*I just have send my ''name'' to Diplodocus.
''My name is Claudius Dornier.
I'm a german airplane builder and founder of Dornier GmbH.
I can make an airplane, so we could use it to bomb a certain house or place to kill a person. (1 is the max obviously).''

I'll be honest with you: my point still stands. There were only two possible resistants left: you and Phoe. It was the best way to win (except obviously for Matyuv's great move).DesLife wrote:Screw you Hunch, you wanted me dead ! I hate you.

I'd been totally put aside, even though I contacted Matyuv he didn't answer me. In these conditions it was pretty hard to be of any help, or to prove that I was a villager... I couldn't even know what was going on. Still, we win.
Matyuv, you made me laugh, using my idea to prove my innocence as it if was your own.
Good job Tobbe, even if some days were kinda long.

Re: German Occupation Mafia - Post-Game Discussion
Excellently, all of my plans worked perfectly. I was fairly certain Bart was Matyuv. Luckily, this time the person who trusted me was actually someone I could rely on.
Basically, me faking my pm worked as expected - it made the Mafia think I was protected (haha) and it meant the inspector could prove himself to me by knowing my real name. I wish Bart hadn't pointed out the typo I made though, that could have sent suspicions all over the place and ruined everything.
Sierra, I believe it was you who I told that Hamlet was the inspector? I thought you were mafia, but I wanted to be sure; I figured that if Hamlet died you were probably to blame, and I also wanted to unlock Bart's powers. That obviously didn't happen, but it was a good plan in theory.
Why did you guys kill me? You could have used your powers to make me say whatever you wanted, a useful tool considering I had the village at my command.
By the way, I didn't actually expect Bart to be killed on the first night, I only protected him because I thought he might be a valuable ally. It did luckily prove him to me for certain, and Hamlet by extension. And once the inspector came to me with my real name and another clean player, the Resistance didn't have a chance.
RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.
Although I will admit that asking for the win condition was a bit of a cheap tactic. In most online Mafias a sample village pm is usually seen at the start of the game [often in the form of some non-player being killed pre-game] making this plan useless, and I would suggest this for future games. Unfortunately Bart had already sent Aviator (the resistant) his win condition, meaning that he now had it to send to me, so it took longer to discover him than it should have.
All in all good game. Look forward to the next one. Who's up for hosting? I'm on holidays now so I may be able to if no-one else wants to. Although we may want a little break beforehand.
Edit: That last picture was awesome.
Also, I might write up a little tutorial on making a fake role pm.
