Phoenixan: Fire Under Siege - CD Cover

I've experimented with it a little, but GameMaker doesn't have a button_release() function! >< (which is important just because it's what I need in order to get the characters' firing animations and things to work)

I decided to release a music package. :) You'll either need winamp or the plug-in in WMP to listen to ogg vorbis format music files (.ogg). And I added a password in. Just type in phoenixan.

All tracks courtesy of Twistedtechnology on Newgrounds, who gave me permission to use his music in Fire Under Siege.

I know it's been a while since i last posted, but this is looking really good now. Unfortunately, i can't play the demo, but i should be getting the internet back soon so i can have a bash at it.

There was a topic on the GameMaker forums about joystick support. I can't find it though...
You can use a simple tool called joytokey. Just assign the keys that are used to play the game for the buttons on the joystick and you can play the game with your joystick. Good tool.

Forget the capitol then. *edits post* If it becomes too much of a bother, I'll just take that out and re-upload.

TwistedTechnology on Newgrounds did. He doesn't post on Newgrounds anymore though as he's been seeking a professional music career. :) Anyways, I PM'd him there and he gave me permission to use all of his music in Phoenixan (I thought I better ask as it's not anything that's going to appear on Newgrounds or anything).

Anyways, if you post on RZ, you probably know I rant about Vista a little bit, but I guess this game might just stay Vista incompatible. Also, the GM7 source files are actually going to be 2 Mb with nothing in them... so, if I did build Phoenixan with GameMaker 7 when it comes out, I'm really going to find it even harder to find a place to upload this game. (It's already at the 9 Mb mark because of the music.)

Mark Overmars is working on a system where other people can play your games online. Just thought it was interesting.

GameMaker 7. 2000, XP, and Vista only. Uses DirectX 9.0c/L instead of 8.1 (like GM6). :P But yeah, it's going to come with an upload button, where you can upload your games to their servers for free. I think it's a registered-only feature, but I'm not sure.

There's also a program someone made where you can upload a gmd or gm6 file, and it converts it to Java for online webpage play. However, it's extremely basic.

Well, I can't find it right now as the GameMakerGames Community has been having a bit of problems lately... but if you do a search on the main GM forums, you should eventually find it.

We haven't had much news about FUS lately. Are you having problems with updating the game, Phoe?

No, I've just been working... jobs... need the money... :( XD I'm seeing Pyra this summer, and I need money to go out to restaurants, shop a bit, hotels.. things like that. I've got the plane tickets taken care of. :D

And I decided not to upgrade to GM7, I've actually went back to GM5.3a, in case I didn't say so already. 5.3a is Windows Vista compatible while GM6 isn't. Anyways, it's not really delaying progress much.. I just haven't had much time to work on the game again lately really, but I will get it done when I can.
