List of ranks

Blimey, R1 really rubbed you the wrong way, eh? Ahh, to each their own. I won't deny that I had it easy with R1 meself.

I find it amusing that this English ranklist has the French names Matuvu and Tribelle (even though the manual calls them "Bo-Peep" and "Heebie-Jeebie") and also has the weird names Kal Ory and Al Urgic, even though they are called Otto and Roméo in-game!

Really? Must have been a PC-only thing then, because my manual (that I lost years ago) had the other names.

Hm, seeing as I've never seen the PC UK Rayman 3 manual, I can't really comment on that. Hopefully some kind fellow will one day scan their own PC UK R3 Manual, and donate it to the Wiki, so that we may be able to learn more of this discrepancy.

I'm not entirely sure if I have or had one but I could look (I have like one or two spare copies of R3 on PC), or wouldn't they have manuals built in-game?

Oh, let's just say me and Rayman 1 are on non-speaking terms right now.

Did you actually try playing the game? :o oh wow. Brave man.

I've never got past band land

It helps to have had some practice first. I spent years playing Rayman Junior (which is also quite hard) before I came to Rayman 1.
Of course, obtaining and playing children's educational games from over fifteen years ago could pose problems on a number of levels!

Well, I'm not going to fault anyone being put off R1, I didn't complete the game until 2011, and I first played it around 2000.

I have the names as both 'Matuvu' and 'Bo-peep' - like they were nicknames (eg. Matuvu "Bo-peep" Butterscout).

I love the French name for the Teensies. I couldn't even hope to be able to pronounce it the right way!

Well, good. I find those nicknames stupid anyway…

And of course "Ptizêtres" = "P'tits êtres", if that helps.
