So I guess that person who sent me a comment on the old youtube videos about the $120 isn't bullshitting, but you're still better off finding the DVD since we all know what American VHSs are like with European ones.

Ah, no, I don't live in the UK. Is it because of my English you think that?Cairnie wrote:You're in the UK aren't you? If you say you did see it as a kid, can you remember what channel is was on? Cause like, I had Sky with loads of kids channels in 2000 but I still never saw Rayman on them at all and because of that I felt the need to debunk claims that it was ever aired there.
I know it definitely aired on German TV 'cause I can remember a few friends making DA journals about it, and I've heard some people from Netherlands saying they saw it too.
I can still tell you the channel I saw it on, for I think, if I remember rightly, it was 'FoxKids', which is I think a now dead associate of the Twentieth Century Fox media corporation.

How's that possible? TAS aired in 1999/2000, and DeviantART started up in 2002.Cairnie wrote:You're in the UK aren't you? If you say you did see it as a kid, can you remember what channel is was on? People can still write about things they saw two years after they saw it, no? And maybe they first saw it when the tv people were doing reruns... who knows?RayFan9876 wrote: How's that possible? TAS aired in 1999/2000, and DeviantART started up in 2002.

Ya, the tv series aired in Summer 2003 (August or July) if I recall correctly (at least in Germany, not sure about other countries like Singapore)Cairnie wrote:It aired in Germany in about 2003 or so? And DA actually started in 2000

Re: Rayman himself
I have a funny remark about the proportions of Rayman. A lot of people say they don't like how Rayman is smaller than for example Ly and Henchmen, Hoodmongers, Globox etc.. However, what you don't know is that he could actually be as tall as they are! The proportions all work out; if you draw legs onto Rayman, which are the good size and length, he would turn out about twice as tall as he is now! He would be just about Ly's size, or maybe only an inch smaller rather than a few feet. But because he doesn't have legs, his body sinks down to near his feet, making him quite squat. How about that then! Rayman is really just a tall bloke who got unlucky and was downsized. Well, unlucky if size matters to you. Personally, I like him just the way he is - makes him look almost kiddy, really.
Re: Rayman himself
What's the problem with Rayman's size? Mario is also small.
The main reason for Rayman's height being low is due to his "legs" size. If you try to draw legs you see better why he is small.

There's no problem - I'm saying some people have a problem with it.Haruka wrote:What's the problem with Rayman's size? Mario is also small.

And, yeah, that thing about the legs, that's exactly what I said.
Re: Rayman himself
Epic Mickey 2 is supposed to feature Oswald as playable character. However, he flies using his ears, it actually looks more than identical to how Rayman flies. I noticed Earthworm Jim uses this concept too.

Oh, god, Earthworm Jim... amazing, amazing, amazing. Part of my childhood and I will never forget his awesomeness. Though I have absolutely no more clue what it's about or even how the game plays. Also, there was a tv series I watched. Don't know anything about that anymore either.

Re: Rayman himself
The cartoon series is on DVD now (finally!) in Australia at the moment, still not sure if I wanna import it straight away due to price. I'm covered as far as regions go but still.
Re: Rayman himself
Interesting. Maybe if it comes around in Europe I might be interested in buying. I remember that the series only ever were on TV in holland for a few days but I've never seen it and the idea was scrapped shortly after. I never got to listen to Rayman's dutch voice.Cairnie wrote:The cartoon series is on DVD now (finally!) in Australia at the moment, still not sure if I wanna import it straight away due to price. Re: Rayman himself
Well, from what I remember, I liked it - and I generally don't like Dutch cartoons because they're too... screamy. But maybe the idea of it being Rayman completely muffled the idea of it being badly voice acted - like I said though, I don't remember so I don't know which of these ideas are the truth.Spanex wrote: Interesting. Re: Rayman himself
Yeah, dutch dubbing also have the same typical voices too. You can tell which characters are sharing the same person's voice and that drives me crazy! It used not to be that way...
Re: Rayman himself
It's true, I've learnt about this maybe 2 months ago I think...Cairnie wrote:The cartoon series is on DVD now (finally!) in Australia at the moment, still not sure if I wanna import it straight away due to price. I'm covered as far as regions go but still.
I used to watch some episodes in portuguese dub back in the time I was in primary school.

...Portugese? o_o How many languages was RayTAS made in again? -is assuming that's what you're talking about-
I may well ask for a DVD for Christmas, can I ask what the DVD has on it? Like apart from the episodes obviously.

Re: Rayman himself
I was talking about Earthworm Jim. There was a Portuguese dubbing. That never happened with the Rayman Animated Series, I even subtitled the 4 episodes by my own.
Now reminding it, there must be around 3 words in the subtitles that aren't correctly translated. One of them is when Grub's mother yells something like "jellow". I forgot the word.

Re: Rayman himself
Jello? that's a dessert.
Re: Rayman himself
I need a confirmation of English natives.
