It becomes an obsession for their "none of the 0 genres of music I've explored in depth before have ever spoken to me more than slowed down, reverbby, popular 80's music" minds.
Ah, yeah, I think that mindset is being maintained because of the impact the genre has as an overall, there are vibes and feels you can have on many albums, unlike "normal" music where it is far more difficult to find some things that has the same vibes attached to it, except, trance of course, by that I mean that one sound in particular can really make you feel something good, and listen at the rest of the album to realize it is utter bullshit, continuity is far more precent in Vapour.
In addition you clearly talk about the classic vaporwave, Hypnagogic Vapor and Vaportrap has absolutely nothing to do with slowed down elevator music, try Mana Pool or Blank Banshee 0 if you wanna get into Vaportrap.
Or to 2 8 1 4 if you wanna get into Hypnagogic.
I'm not a "hard" vaporwave listener, I listen to every genre that exists (except black metal) and appreciate it, I just try to explore vaporwave as it is a bit of a complex and somewhat unexplainable genre of music.
I recently listened at two awesome albums :
Digital Office, being a best of made with the help of a collaboration of artists that made awesome songs exclusively for that album, the sound takes to back straight into the late 80's, and into vibes of the late 90's, evoking me a changing world, a globalisation centered on internet and modern technologies, recommend it.
Saint Pepsi Hit Vibes.
Also takes you back into the late 80's, as a shy teenager, taken to a party, drinking alcohol, having a good time, hanging out with some friends, that's how I felt it, I also recommend.
