That's the problem of reaching a very high scoring. :oops2:

I am still aiming for my 600000 points. After I'll see. I am not aiming for the top 10 but I would feel very happy to reach a relatively hard score to beat.

You've only been here about four months and you're ready to throw in the towel? Rayman 3 is all about patience and restarts if you don't like to pratice and repeat combos ad nauseam, then I understand. But if you find it challenging to master some of the harder combos and at the same time improve your score, just hang in there.

Improving your score in Rayman comes in steps. Once you learn a new skill, or a new trick, this skill or trick can often be used in many combos, thus you can improve your score dramatically. I can understand you find it difficult at the moment. Actually the hardest part for me was improving from 700.000 points to 750.000 points. It was easier to get from 750.000 to 800.000 points. And the reason for this is exactly the skills that are necessary to play certain combos.

As an example of a skill, I could mention taking a Matuvu in combo after a gem. This little trick is worth learning even though it's bloody hard. But you could make a giant leap forward scoring wise if you can master this.

I will return to playing the game after the exams are over. By then I will also make more vidoes. So if you choose to stick around we can talk about combos, tricks and skills.

ok, let me explain this all:

I'm going to quit rayman 3, but maybe not fore ever, I think for a few years, because It costs very much time and I like to play other games as well. also I'm on (grammar) school with lots of homework. I don't wanna be someone who only plays on his PC, so let's say I only have time to play one hour a day. and that's not enought to play all the games I like..... I already quit 3 games and now R3 for a while as well.
I expect next year I'm having less homework, so maybe than I have time to play it, it's just a great game
:D :D :D :D :D :D

BUT I WILL STAY ON THE FORUMS AND TALK ABOUT COMBOS ETC.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

Is it really worth learning? Unless you're one of those crazy (ambitious) people who just need to get over 800000 for whatever reason, it hardly is.

@ReignOwner: Sometimes breaks like that really increase your motivation. Maybe in a few weeks you will be eager to play again and can then finally get over 700000. For now, it's still too early to be officially retired.

I understand your frustration. There comes a point when the fun factor is removed from playing because of the difficulty of the combos and the endlessness of the restarts. However, you're saying this at an odd time, I think. Most people would give up either before entering the 'difficult zone' (which I would consider 650k+) or after having reached 800k+ when the effort of improving has exhausted you. You're right in the middle of these two extremes, in the 'difficult zone', when for me playing the game was most exciting.

Good luck in whatever you're doing though. Hope to see you back and playing again soon!

Perhaps not, but it was the first skill I could think of when I wrote the message. :)

There are of obviously different levels of difficulty when taking a Matuvu after a gem. The easiest situation comes when the Matuvu is level with Look Mode, so you don't have to look up or down as you activate this mode. This "easy" trick gives you 2.500 points in LOTLD part 1 and 1.500 points in LOTLD part 3. It is necessary to do this to reach the maximum score in this level.

Another small trick worth learning is taking a Matuvu after a Mushroom. It can give you an extra 500 points in a few places.

But the motherlode comes when you learn to take a Matuvu after a gem AND after looking up or down. You can bag 8.000 - 10.000 points on that account in FC alone. But as you say, this is for those crazy people who want to cross the 800k barrier. :fou2:

It doesn't matter which example you've chosen. It can be understood as a general statement. Other than satisfying your own ambition there is no reason to go for 800000, you don't get an award or sth.

Interesting. I really never knew there was so much depth to the game (although I guess you guys had to be talking about something in here, haha). Perhaps I should try getting better at it, even though I'll probably never be anywhere near the top. :P

Yes, as you say that, when you play for combos, you progress with some steps. You will find news technics. For me, few month ago, to take a Matuvu just after a gem was impossible. Finally I took the first Matuvu in LOTLD after a lot of times  and now I take it almost every time. But now, I still can't to take a Matuvu after gem and looking up/down.... I WILL DIE to the FC !!! :confus:
I'll don't take about taking a Matuvu after a mushroom... :fou:
Consequently I will be forced to believe consols players have got more time to take a Matuvu than PC players!!

@Diamante : Yeah I want to see that :o

There's real depth in the game when it comes to scoring. The game is eight years old and yet no-one has reached the maximum score. I have played the game on and off for about six years and I have still something to improve. That's one of the things that fascinate me about R3.

That's exactly what I was talking about. Taking a Matuvu after a gem is hard at first, but once you master the tecnique you can do it regularly.

Maybe it's not important to learn to combo a Matuvu after a Mushroom. It helps in CF part 1 obviously, but other than that you can use it in only two places later on.

As for the crazy Matuvu/Tribelle combos in FC, I would wait until it is absolutely necessary, that is until you have more than 800.000 points. It was the very last thing I improved in the whole game and you can go a long way scorewise without it.

The combo time after a gem is exactly two seconds on all platforms, so it's equally hard to activate Look Mode on those blue menaces for all players. :|

to take a matuvu after a mushroom is (pretty easy), that's what I think, because I could that before I could get a matuvu after a gem....... just stand far away from the mushroom and zoom in already before your bullit hits the mushroom
