Rayman Remixes and Mixes (last updated: March 21, 2014)

Very decent orchestrated remake of Intro from Rayman 2

Very decent? I think it is even better than the original!
The artist behind this remake is also working on composing the soundtrack for R2HD and I can't wait to hear more of her Rayman work

Also thank you for linking that cover from Spotify!
I've been searching for some nice Rayman music on Spotify but all I found wasn't good enough and very pleasant for me, I am glad that I finally have some Rayman covers to listen to there :)

Despite various artistic differences compared to original compositions, let's say the "problem" with most orchestrated remakes is that they use sound libraries instead of real orchestra.
No one has that big budget for fan made projects to hire an orchestra (although it's amazing that now we don't have to).
And here I'd compare e.g. to well-made soundtracks recorded for Medal of Honor, composed by Michael Giacchino and how realistically it all sound vs how artificial some in-house remakes sound (I don't even say that these in particular).
Of course, the problem can be alleviated by good mixing, but usually in such cases, mix and master is being made by the same person who composed the remake, and they kinda loose clear look on how their music sound the more they work on it. And the same applies for mixing engineer as well. Of course, some people wouldn't even allow mixing their tracks by someone else, but - at least leaving mastering to someone you trust who won't destroy it and meet your expectations is a good practice. Hence, not everything recorded with real orchestra means necessarily success.

E.g. listen how bland the main theme (Secret) from Bad Company 2 sounds. Just the opening, catchy melody which everybody knows is good, while everything else in this track on OST is muffled and unrecognizable, even boring, while actually the whole track is fire, well played and beautifully composed. Just recording/mixing wasn't really well thought there (though now we can mix easier than 13 years ago and also entirely in the box). But in fact the whole track and especially its particular fragments are hidden gems (what I only found by accident and made a remaster of the whole track, because why not, but this is a specific case).
Any feedback more than welcomed.
Edit. WiP. One fragment in the finale is messed up.

Not an expert, but I guess there shouldn't be any problem about remixing Rayman music unless you try to monetize the videos. The only major "problem" would be getting your videos deleted because of copyright infractions, but I don't think that's the case as most of the Rayman music is composed for the game itself and it isn't an existing song (such as the Raving Rabbids songs, the Groove Armada song in Rayman 3, etc.).

Here it is!

It took me a lot of time to create the mixtape and it would be a pleasure if there is somebody out there who enjoys it. :D

Briefly on the background of the music: Elements from the games "Rayman 1-3 / M" are remixed / sampled on all songs. All sampled elements were edited by me and sometimes changed slightly to more heavily + partly reassembled.

I think the mixtape can be heard well in the background, but also with sole focus on it. I look forward to your opinions / experiences on this :coeur:

Heyo, it's been a while!

Got notified there was a bot raid on this website, so I figured I'd check on my account.
Glad to see this thread is still alive and well.
I haven't done much remixing of Rayman music over the past years, and frankly some of those old remixes I did make are pretty rusty. :paranormal:

I did put together some small GBA-esque transcriptions/covers for someone within the community.

I hope everyone's doing well! :mryellow: It's nice the site is still around and looking it's old self.

Nice work! Thanks for sharing AniCator, and glad to hear you're doing well! All is good here, sure, the machines are rising, but the humans are holding their own. 🤖

Totally not a rip off from R2 :D

But someone broke that bank with that.
We need the whole album!

I've seen these Original vs. AI videos sometimes and one thing I have always noticed is how soulless the AI output sounds, but this is an exception!
Maybe because Rayman 2 music is too cool B)

OMG!!! I can't believe I didn't find this before, but GaMetal made a remix of the "Chased by the Knaaren" theme, check it out if you haven't already:

Wow! I'm not sure if I've heard some of that on other videos before, or if it's just such a good and natural take that it inherently sounds familiar! It's an excellent remix anyway! :)
