Re: Rayman Legends
If and when a PS3/360 demo comes out, it's probably going to be a port of the current demo for the Wii U. It'll be interesting to see how they pull of the messing with the environment part you're supposed to do with Murphy. It's probably all gonna be on a timer or completely removed.

Oh, I see.Adsolution wrote:Nay, it was because you mentioned the release date for my game being far away about an hour after someone with a similar posting style to yours asked about the release date on YouTube.Dark Lum Lord wrote:How come? Or were you literally checking for no reason?
I'm hoping that they hadn't removed it from the PS3/360 versions. It looks pretty fun.Slogbait wrote:If and when a PS3/360 demo comes out, it's probably going to be a port of the current demo for the Wii U. Aggh, I hope the demo comes out earlier than August. Honestly, I still can't get over the fact that Ubisoft stabbed us in the back by delaying the game, but at least it'll be on PS3, since I'm definitely not going to buy a brand new Wii U console to play the game. When Ubisoft makes another Rayman game, it better be one that is three-dimensional and has an actual plot, or I'm done with 'em.Haruka wrote:I wonder what the new exclusive Wii U demo will bring. Something we didn't see so far? A build that we saw it on the internet before because of the game conferences? Make your bets.
I believe that only a PS3/360 demo will come out in August.

Re: Rayman Legends
Uhhh... not to worry you about eventual "true R4", but the probability of next game being RO-like is way, way higher. Unless RL will flop completely, that is, and we get another 5 year break.

Re: Rayman Legends
At this point, I don't care whether or not the Rayman 4 we were pormised will get made; I just want another three-dimensional Rayman game. Don't get me wrong, I like the 2D Rayman games, but after playing Rayman 1 dozens of times, Origins, and waiting to play the upcoming Legends, I'm kind of sick of it.stan423321 wrote:Uhhh... not to worry you about eventual "true R4", but the probability of next game being RO-like is way, way higher. Re: Rayman Legends
Wii U is getting an exclusive demo for Rayman Legends... yeah right. I don't trust ubisoft anymore. They're probably releasing the same demo for Xbox 360/PS3 too. Because "fanbase asks for it".

I know, I'm not reporting this news, I know it's old. I'm just saying that what they're promising to Wii U owners will be just a bunch of lies in a few months. Well, unless Ubisoft actually learns what "exclusivity" means.Master4lyf1 wrote:Pretty sure this is old news, Sergio.

Re: Rayman Legends
Had it up to here with people spouting the same shit over and over and over on facebook, tumblr etc, and it's come to a point where I don't care how long it takes for it to come; besides if the WiiU one did come out earliest then wouldn't the other console users just be rained on with barely avoidable spoilers...
Also, everyone who's said "I hope the game bombs" is fucking selfish.

Re: Rayman Legends
Agreed. Despite the disappointing news and my legit butthurt-ness, I never wanted this game to bomb... after all, the developers did too much of a great job to lose their profits just because a bunch of powerful men wanted to delay the game. I like when people on Miiverse draw things like a sad/angry Rayman disappointed at Ubisoft, because that's what is happening, but I completely dislike when Rayman is drawn being hit by a GTA V car/ Mario's Kart or killed by Link and treated like a "traitor". That's bullshit. I don't want Rayman to disappear. I had suffered enough with the disappearance of Banjo-Kazooie already.
Re: Rayman Legends
Even if Rayman "disappears", it's bound to re-emerge in the future. Sometimes franchises go under for a while because something in the past fucked them up (usually because of the publisher) but fans can be really adamant about getting it back on its feet. That happened to Oddworld for about 6 years, and it's picking itself back up.
Is it the ideal situation? No. Definitely not. But the fact is, even when things go downhill Rayman will find its way back to the top eventually.

Re: Rayman Legends
The problem here, Slogbait, is that we've already had to endure one major wait after the Rabbids saga, if Rayman ends up in limbo again...
Well, who knows?
Well, who knows?
Re: Rayman Legends
The difference there is that the franchise was still going, it was just going in a really... not good direction. If the franchise were to drop all together, absolutely no new games being made, people are still really interested in Rayman. Someone (or a group of people) is bound to approach Michel and try to get Rayman going again because they are such big fans of the series and would do anything to keep it alive. Rayman is not an idea to be given up so easily. Even if the franchise goes under, Legends will not be the last Rayman game we ever see, even if we have to wait a really, really long time. And you can bet, if this is the case, that just like with Origins Rayman will come back making one hell of an entrance.
Like I said, something similar happened to Oddworld. It's been 12 years since the release of the second game in the quintology, and roughly 8 since the release of a spinoff game that was pretty damn good. People who are only interested in the quintology have been waiting over a decade, and just when we thought OWI was through and we weren't going to be seeing anymore Oddworld games, J.A.W. showed up and is helping OWI get back on its feet because they were such fans of the series. Within the next few years, we are guaranteed to finally see something new from them. The reason we've been waiting so long wasn't the fault of OWI, either. They had serious issues with Microsoft around the time the last two games were released and had problem keeping projects funded up until a couple years ago when they started pumping out HD remakes.

Re: Rayman Legends
That is true, but things were worryingly quiet when the series split back in '08 or '09, I'll admit, it did seem like we'd reached the end of the road, my concern is that, even though we're not there anymore, should Legends tank, we could end up in much worse.
However, it's probably me being a little too worrisome, and for that I apologise.

Re: Rayman Legends
No, don't worry about it! You have a legitimate concern. I just have a lot of faith in Rayman and its fans maybe a little too much faithand refuse to believe it would die off just because one of the games had poor sales. The Rabbids was a whole other situation entirely and that one did indeed worry the shit out of me because only time could have told if Rayman was going to ever come back as it once was. Luckily, time has told us and it gave a favourable answer.
Re: Rayman Legends
I remind reading about this, and Microsoft just lost the chance of guaranteeing more sales in the Xbox 360. Its problem afterall, at least PS3 users are happier (and the PC ones too). It gave me an extra reason to be happy with the purchase of the PS3. If I have picked the 360 before, it would be a huge dust collector at this right moment, or I would have probably sold it to somebody else already.Slogbait wrote:They had serious issues with Microsoft around the time the last two games were released and had problem keeping projects funded up until a couple years ago when they started pumping out HD remakes.
I was starting to lose hopes for real in 2010, and almost quiting the Rayman community fearing that the Rabbids indeed took over Rayman and damaged his image forever. E3 2010 saved me, I remind being super thrilled by the news. It helped me to keep on. With the success of Rayman Origins in the market and possibily the same thing will happen in Rayman Legends, I think it will help to clean the image from the Rabbids (not permanently of course) and to keep the franchise alive.Master4lyf1 wrote:That is true, but things were worryingly quiet when the series split back in '08 or '09, I'll admit, it did seem like we'd reached the end of the road, my concern is that, even though we're not there anymore, should Legends tank, we could end up in much worse.

Re: Rayman Legends
Yeah, I agree. However I highly doubt Rayman will ever recover its old popularity. I see its future as a platforming icon gone average.Haruka wrote:I was starting to lose hopes for real in 2010, and almost quiting the Rayman community fearing that the Rabbids indeed took over Rayman and damaged his image forever. Re: Rayman Legends
Then again, not many platformers score really high nowadays. Shooters and racing games are all the rage - maybe an icon as strong as Rayman, with a legacy coming back from the nineties, will present the genre with some good titles.
And then there's always the fans. Revenge of the Dark, Dreambound, my own game and probably at least a handful more will maybe inspire others to at least visit the series if they find the games. Other derivative works as music and artwork will probably keep Rayman alive for a long time to come - if not in games, at least in spirit.
