Rayman (kinda) confirmed for Smash Bros. - VOTE Rayman

While part of me is mad that they went all the way to get a 3rd party character for just a trophy, I'm happy he got some recognition. It gives me hope for Smash 5.
 
You are acting like you gave up. NEVER give up. We have secret character and DLC hope. Well, I am the type of gamer that learned never to stop fighting for what I believe and I believe there is sill a chance.
 
I think showing his trophy pretty much deconfirmed him. I could see him being DLC though, still, it makes me happy that Rayman was acknowledged.
 
I think differently. I think showing his trophy means they are hyping for something bigger.
 
I ended up missing the character reveal but to be honest I'm not all that bothered by Rayman not possibly being playable in Smash (I found Brawl disappointing for some reason) but at least they bothered to get Ubi to model the trophy.

So I ended up finding these in Just Dance 14 instead rofl

Only good character for me on reveal is Captain Falcon. I am not familiar with others so can't judge them.
 
I used to be pessimist but one person made an excellent video regarding Crash Bandicoot which was very motivational and from that day I became optimist and decided to fight forever in what I believe.
 
Really happy to see Captain Motherfuckin' Falcon returning, I'm sure Ad will be happy as well. No Rayman sadly, but hey, I'm happy seeing Falcon return as well. Unfortunately I'm not a Fire Emblem fan so I'm not familiar with this other new character.
 
Ehh, in honesty, I think that model would have looked better with cel shading. I know being a trophy, he's meant to be shiny, but I think having cel shading to represent the more cartoon inspired aesthetic of the UbiArt saga might have helped him look a little more natural. Currently, he looks a little plasticy.

As it stands, it's probably just me, but I've not been so keen on the 3D representations of UbiArt Ray we've had thus far, there's always something a bit off to me. Be that the eyebrows, or in this case, the facial expression and shading.

Nitpicks aside though, I am honestly very grateful that Rayman was given the opportunity to make some semblance of an appearance in the Smash series, even as a trophy, it's a rather rousing thought to think he's popular enough to make an appearance like so.
 
It's just so bittersweet and peculiar all at the same time - why would they go through licensing and and all of that jazz just to make him a trophy you can collect?

I'll sign whatever DLC petitions arise if he isn't in the game at release, anyway.

Assist Trophy is still really possible though. Phosphora from Kid Icarus: Uprising was revealed as a collectible trophy at first, and was later confirmed as an Assist Trophy in this picture on Palutena's page:

They didn't. Ancel freely allowed it. He already expressed huge intrest in Rayman to be in the game so it is very possible that Sakurai had no issues getting permission for trophy. It was also maybe a part of the deal between Nintendo allowing Mario and Luigi skins in RL maybe.
 
Where did you hear of this allowance? I've not heard of any of the details regarding the licensing of Rayman here.
 
@Master Hmm, I see where you're coming from. It would have been nice if it where cel shaded, but let's take what we can get.

Ancel said it on Twich that he would love Rayman to be in the game. Why would he have high demands if he was the one requesting Sakurai for Rayman to be in and not the reversed case?
 
Be that as it may, without proper proof to substantiate that claim, all you've posited is a logical assumption.

Ubisoft still holds the rights to Rayman. Regardless of Ancel's desire to see him in the game, he'd have to go through the higher ups at Ubisoft to include him in the game in any form.

I just find it strange that Sakurai would go through all of that if all he wanted to do with Rayman was make him a trophy.
 
If 3rd party trophies are a thing, I wonder what other ones we'll see? Maybe Bayonetta and Professor Layton? Also, honestly not a big fan of the pose Rayman has, he looks like he's tripping balls.
