Re: Rayman 3 scores
This is really great, well done Plum and Steo!
Re: Rayman 3 scores
It's mainly Plum's work, I just helped out a little with the non-PC version stuff, but I'm glad to see the HoF working again!

I might have smashed it

Re: Rayman 3 scores
Impressive! What just happened here?
Re: Rayman 3 scores
As you might know, Maz has put together a wonderful walkthrough that allows for ~101.500 points even with "only" 3 Razoff hits, and recently I put something together in BOM 4 that to me at least seems to have fixed the only obvious issue with all the "standard gameplay" parts 2, 3 and 4, and the improvement was substantial enough that I thought to give it a shot and maybe at least once protect a record against Maz before he wakes up from hibernation
It includes all hidden gems that are obtainable (1234m has them all documented) and this awful glitch combo, and I got 4 Razoff hits before I ever had an attempt with 3, because I was most certainly only going for 3.
The problem remains that it's still an absurdly long way to go if we ever want to reach a "true" maximum score for BOM where not every point lost to taking damage counts (~6500, perfect score would be 115.319), and I'm at my wit's end as to how that could be possible through "normal" gameplay, so if anything, we would very likely have to something weird in BOM 1, possibly with 1234m's glitch, and miraculously get Begioniax in a combo or something like that. As it stands, there really isn't much incentive for anyone to endure the Razoff-lottery and intentionally go for 4 hits when ideally you would have to do it again anyway in the future. Which is kind of my dilemma right now, but oh well, I take being absurdly far ahead thanks to RNGesus

Re: Rayman 3 scores
Oh no.
Welp, guess this is as good a time as any to pick up where I left and play some R3 again. Screw BoM though.
Congrats Cut, insane find in part 4 and great job with the overall score, that's super impressive! What's next, LOTLD? And are you also revisiting other levels? Cause if I remember correctly, there was some "unfinished business" in TOTL, too.
And SBTC but we don't talk about that.

Re: Rayman 3 scores
Thank you very much!
Well actually, I'm dodging more important issues right now by exploring LS. I am still far from giving up on the green gem in LS2 (heck, we don't even have a Superjump to the top, which is a clear sign that we have been barely trying at all
), and I have a promising idea to take the Matuvu in LS3 for 750 in combo (I've recored the 500-combo somewhat recently), and now there is also this.
I guess LS is small enough to just work on it alone. Especially when it comes to LOTLD, doing something with the ESJ to the top of the 2nd seems painfully obvious, however I have no "feel" for this part at all, so I would love to rely on your experience before I end up trying a bunch of stuff you already know to be not worth pursuing.
Also CF of course, I would love to disprove 1234 and find something significant in the 2nd part that doesn't involve the PCM, but I might be out of luck. I think we still need something like 5000 points or even more if we want to crack 140k, which would be so incredibly remarkable that we just have to find a way.
In TOTL I feel like I have forgotten absolutely everything, I couldn't even tell you what the final combo looks like as of now. Also, the shoe race is still the elephant in the room, since I remember that the difference between going out with 2 hits and going out with 10 hits is something like 2500 points.

Re: Rayman 3 scores
Well, congratulations! So you pulled a triple Razoff glitch? What are the odds!
I'm wondering now, was the previous high score achieved by defeating Razoff in part 6 (according to our outdated solution, it gives 101.299 points) or did you guys already finish scoring in part 5?
It's a shame that our solutions are so outdated by the way, I feel like I have completely lost track of the recent progress in scoring. Maybe we could start by checking that the maximum scores are at least accurate?

Re: Rayman 3 scores
101.299 was achieved in part 6, so that was always the measuring point. Without the new combo in BOM4, you only would have been able to barely surpass that with 3 Razoff hits (~101.800 I believe), so even though +840 in BOM 4 is not huge, it more than doubles the improvement over 101.299 which is why it suddenly became much more worthwhile to finish after part 5.Hunchman801 wrote: Thu Dec 31, 2020 5:55 pm Well, congratulations! Regarding maximum scores
FC: honestly at a loss. when in doubt, assume that Maz has the maximum score (54.450)
CF: with this combo 139.049. (Walkthrough for parts 1 and 2) It seems reasonable to believe that 140.019 is possible with some tweaks. Bigger problem is that there are not enough total points yet, theoretical maximum should be ~135.000. Finding these missing 5000 points at least does not entirely seem out of the ordinary, quite contrary to
BOM: well I suppose my score + a few hundred, ~109.000. Will probably forever remain a garbage level with no practical maximum score.
LOTLD: 124.259 with this. Can quite possibly be improved, 130.000 might not be outlandish but we'll find out.
DOTK: 122.879 as long as I'm not talking out of my ass here. Walkthrough, Concept for a 9000-combo in part 3, and there is the PCM and other shenanigans in part 1 on 1234's channel, so I think we have just about enough? Correct me if I'm wrong.
LS: 43.780, work in progress towards 44.090. Shenanigans in LS2 might allow for up to 45.940
SBTC: ~130.000 for the mystery man, ~112.000 for ordinary people
HH: 120.609 with this gorgeous beauty, a cheeky person might point out that 120.709 is possible
TOTL: ~118.000, has been criminally ignored by me so I have no idea even though I really should have. This walkthrough is good for part 1. Almost every video on part 2 is outdated and set to private, I guess a couple new videos would be in order
Re: Rayman 3 scores
According to my (admittedly outdated) list:
FC: 54.940
CF: 136.350
TOTL: 119.009
... and the rest as listed by Cut. Improvements for BOM and LOTLD have not yet been included, so I don't know the max scores there either. Also, the cage-PCM is still a very big question mark, the argument being that if you'd end up having to play certain levels again anyway, you might as well just start a new game and go for the extra points provided by such a PCM.
And I feel you on the forgetting part, I tried to play HH1 yesterday and needed like 10 restarts just to remember all the combos

Re: Rayman 3 scores
First things first: Happy new year everyone!
Awesome findings Cut, and even more impressive score!
Getting the Triple Glitch must have felt like winning the lottery. This definitely won't be beaten anytime soon.
Finding another 6.5k points in BOM is probably just wishful thinking, even with some potential new glitches. My only hope to ever achieve this would be to somehow get at least 6k combo points from Bégoniax. One idea I thought about is to reduce her HP to zero and, before the cutscene starts, deactivate the area. Maybe we could then collect some gems and immediately after reactivate the area with Bégoniax (e.g. by falling down somewhere OoB) in order to get up to 9k combo points from her. Unfortunately, the level isn't built in a favourable way, so it's unlikely to work out.
As for the maximum scores, I'm also not quite up-to-date. What I have written down, with guarantee of not being very accurate/correct, is:
FC: 54960
CF: 138310
BOM: 109600
LOTLD: 128k-130k
DOTK: 122879
LS: 44030
SBTC: 133k
HH: 120709
TOTL: ???
Once we have proper values for the levels, I'll make sure to update the Wiki. For now they are rather vague though. We never properly and consistently documented our findings and now we're paying the price...
Also, thanks to PluM and Steo! The HoF works again like a charm.

Re: Rayman 3 scores
Well I'll definitely work on improving my score at some stage. CF definitely has room for improvement, as do SBTC, HH, and TOTL. Issue is, SBTC is a horrible one, almost as bad as BOM.

Re: Rayman 3 scores
Thanks for your answers, Cut, Maz and 1234! Maybe the best way to proceed is for those who have the highest score in a certain level to confirm it? It might actually be good to have everyone post their level scores, if people are comfortable with that of course.

Indeed! Hence my idea to start with level scores.1234 wrote: Fri Jan 01, 2021 5:44 am Once we have proper values for the levels, I'll make sure to update the Wiki. For now they are rather vague though. We never properly and consistently documented our findings and now we're paying the price...![]()

Re: Rayman 3 scores
I'm about to start a fresh game of Rayman 3, and I'm afraid I won't get anywhere near my current score. Which is a pity, since my current HoF entry embarrassingly has 59 cages.
Re: Rayman 3 scores
You don't have that original savefile anymore? It would be much easier to improve scores for individual levels.PluMGMK wrote: Mon Jan 04, 2021 6:04 pm I'm about to start a fresh game of Rayman 3, and I'm afraid I won't get anywhere near my current score. P.S. I'm not sure I could ever get to your score. Even getting over 500K would be a challenge for me.

Re: Rayman 3 scores
I do have it, but it's been so long that I'd rather play through the story, especially since I've freshly installed the new HD texture pack! Of course I know that level-by-level would probably be a more reasonable way overall to improve my score, but it'll be interesting to see how far I get this way anyway!
Not doing too badly so far – I got 2k more in each of FC and CF, but 2k less in BOM…
I didn't think I would ever get to 500k either, until it happened – you might surprise yourself!

Re: Rayman 3 scores
I never expected to break 600k, let alone 800k. I'll never get anywhere near 900k though, this I know for sure.
Re: Rayman 3 scores
After several years I went and installed Rayman 3 again. I'm happy to see that the scoring community continued evolving! So many new tricks and glitches!
I am now at 564k after a couple weeks and feel like I will surpass my previous 610k score very easily. I am struggling with one type of combo though, the gems+matuvu combo... how do you guys do it? no matter how fast I switch to view mode it simply is not enough, the gem combo is too short for it to work, but in most videos I see that some you are using the camera mode and then quickly transition to view mode... how? any tips?

Re: Rayman 3 scores
Could you be referring to instant look mode as explained by RibShark here?
RibShark wrote: Wed Sep 09, 2015 7:21 pm Instant look-mode? Easy enough to do anywhere, just enter snapshot mode (which pauses the combo timer), hold the look-mode button and exit snapshot mode. Try it and see if it makes this any easier.
