It's rayman, since when does Rayman make any sense?
 
There are universal rules that apply to fiction to make it somewhat relateable, such as not having a game within a story suddenly change the laws of the Universe when they were already clearly defined..

I have an idea. There are 1000 yellow lums that make up the the heart, but thier are more than that in existence. This is even evident in Rayman 2 as there are infact 1001 before Razorbeard eats one. Plus lums have been known to change colour.
 
I think you guys are looking far too deep into how/why/when/where the characters designs have changed. I doubt they have a big time line planned for the whole series or anything (maybe a rough one), only that this is a origin story. As others have said the re-designs are simply because the artists re-designed them, not because they are younger/older etc.

But this is a Rayman focused forum so I shouldn't be all too surprised, they do the same at Sonic Retro in that respect. :P

With the old debate about what the true name of Globox's species was, I would not be surprised. (I still believe it's Glute. Derp, derp!)

There is an element of personal conflict in that [Big Mamma may or may not be the mother of Globox, or of his wife Uglette; this would make her the grandmother of all the baby Globoxes we met in the other games. In the Daily Bubble, we’ve seen her in her regular form, which implies that her regular self will appear as a friendly character in the game. Suddenly warping the mother-in-law of one of your main characters into a gigantic kraken monster is a hell of a way to end a game, so I’m going to reserve judgement for the time being.]

I’ve been struggling with this one too. RRR1 GBA had the same problem. I suppose it’s possible that there are thousands and thousands of Yellow Lums, but that the ones from the Heart of the World are special in some way. Or maybe the Heart can be made of any thousand Yellow Lums, and the ones Rayman collected in R2 just happened to be the ones that were closest. Or maybe all but a thousand of them were destroyed [by Mr Dark to feed his machines] during Rayman Origins? I think I like that last one...

That’s a misconception. There were exactly one thousand Yellow Lums in R2 – the one that Razorbeard ate is the one that shows up in Tomb of the Ancients.

Hello, I've just joined so the picture I'm trying to attach might not appear. It didn't so here's the the web address.


Just a few things I've noticed. Betilla, Annetta, Holly and Edith all seem to be sitting on stone pedistools near the edge while Helena is near the stone circle. But this screenshot might have been taken partway through a cutscene and Helena could be moving towards one of the inner pedistools, meaning there may be more nymphs than we have seen. (eg. the moody clouds nymph from the daily bubble)

Also does anyone else think that this group is the fairy council.

Rayman, saving the Glade one laugh at a time

When the Creator’s dreams began to go sour, the flighty, fun-loving nymphs assembled to invoke a creature of light capable of saving the Glade: an agile and tenacious yet carefree and comical being, destined to distract and amuse the Creator and ease his fears: Rayman… But as with most of the nymphs’ best-laid plans, in their rush to produce a savior, they lacked enough Lums to fully bring their plan to fruition, and Rayman came into the Glade with a few pieces missing…

Globox, Rayman’s best friend

Globox, the mightily squashable and equally squeamish kung fu mastodon, is the “to-may-to” to Rayman’s “to-mah-to,” the “po-tay-toe” to his “po-tah-toe”… Huh? Anyway, he’s everything a best friend should be: wacky, willing, and weird.

Teensies

A Teensy is an apprentice sorcerer whom the Creator has graced with a gargantuan nose (the better to make the Bubble Dreamer’s favorite snoring music). These smallish, awkward, and often confusing creatures are particularly attuned to the subtle harmonies and perfumes of the Glade, and the (self-appointed) kings among them are said to hold the secrets to all possible pathways through the world, visible and invisible.

Come on, really, it's not like it's any more okay for Rayman to do this than any other series, all it does is create confusion, there's no such thing as a "Rayman related answer" that wouldn't be completely ridiculous. Some things are changed so much it's almost better not to think of an explanation.

Easy: They all died. If razorbeard was able to kill one single lum just by eating it, imagine what could have happened to the rest ( :wink: ). Oh, and it's true that in some versions you can save the lum, but there are version in which you can't, so yeah, it's dead. There were later only 1000 lums. Just saying.

What versions are you talking about? Even Revolution has the thousandth Yellow Lum; it’s just in a different place.

The first one is easy:
- BG&E2 is top secret, it's huge and they all love it.
- No DLC planned yet, but it's still possible.
- What really happened between the rabbids and Rayman: Rayman was lost in the Rabbids' world, one of the developers found him in a wine cellar, and "saved" him.
- HD Collection? Nah, HD is good and all, but after so many ports, they'd rather focus on originality, on new gameplay. Live with the future. "Imhotep."
- Skip to 5:15. Seriously. Do it.
The second one:
- Michel Ancel describes his first steps in the videogame business.
- He says nothing changed to the way games are developed.
- He also describes who are really the stars of the Rayman team: the artists. He says how he searches for them, etc. His role is to work with them.
This second interview is probably an interesting behind-the-scenes interview. Keep it, it might be interesting for some.
