Before this year, when said scrapping occurred, exams were taken both in January and May/June, < knows that probably sounds worse, but hear < out. We have various modules, each with their own exam, with the old system, you could take some in January, and the rest in June, making the distribution of work a little more even throughout the year. With only May/June exam season now, all of the exams, including ones that could have been gotten out of the way with in January, are now all collectively piled upon <.

It wasn't <'s decision, the ability to take January exams was scrapped this year, no-one will be able to do them ever again (unless they're reinstated sometime in the future).

By the sounds of it, you have modules for 2 semesters but the exams for both semesters are on the same date?
< thinks that's bullshit

As for < the lecturer < asked for Honours supervision came back and wants to talk to me about it, sounds pretty promising.

< isn't really
From what < understands this will simply be an informal meeting discussing what exactly < is going to do, and what < is capable of producing

Well, < is still in College (for ages 16-18), < doesn't know what the equivalent is for you fellas up there, but I'll try to clarify. < is currently doing A Levels, they consist of an AS (First year) and A2 (second year). That's not really relevant though, so on to the exams themselves. <'s subjects tend to comprise of 3-4 modules, most with their own exam, < currently does four subjects, with a total of 11 exams, and some coursework.

Before this year, exams for every module could be entered in either January or June, thus, < had some exams for <'s modules in January, and exams for the rest of the modules in June. This was a more even spread of exams, and meant instead of having plenty of exams all piled on at the end of the year, < would only have a few, the others already having been dealt with in January. Last year, < took about 11 exams in total as well, and < took about 5 in January, and < took about 6 in June.

This year, that capability was scrapped, which means there's no choice in the year for when exams for modules can be taken, all modules have their exams in June only, meaning that < has to take all 11 exams < has all in one season.

@Master Bah that's still darn bullshit
