Re: How active are you?

To be honest, talking to people on an internet forum isn't as much as talking to people in real life.
Hence my inactivity, I would surely get back into posting on an occasion like record day (which I missed last year) or another mafia round.
Secondly, I'm currently studying for an education in my local university, if everything goes right this will take around 2 years.
They only allow people with a high education in high school, which I am also currently studying for.
But hey, I still have no idea what to do, maybe I'll even go to Germany, I heard they have great science classes.

No, absolutely not. However, it's still a form of social interaction - and when people you knew leave, part of that interaction dies from the forum itself. Or at least, that's how I feel.

That's where I don't agree. It's different, it really is. When I get tired of real life interaction, I turn to the internet. When I get tired of the internet, I turn to real life.

Isn't that what he meant? "Isn't as much as talking", I interpreted, at least, as "isn't much like talking" or perhaps "isn't as much [fun] as talking".

Yeah this is a common mistake for me.
Originally I had planned to write something like "I think it's not as fun as", but then I wanted to reorganise the entire sentence, causing me to skip some words. :pfff:

I think the two are entirely different. There seems to be some universal propaganda that says talking online is bad for one's social health, substitutes real life interaction and so on, but that's all cock and bull. Most people use forums to share ideas and take part in discussions with people who share similar interests. In a way, it's quite tiresome to read tales of people chanting stuff like "I've left the internet for the real world", or "my social life is more important to me these days", which actually suggests they were indeed in a separate bubble to society in the first place.

I'm appreciative of this place, before my joining with the internet, there were very few people who actually showed any interest in the Rayman series, and even fewer who were capable of discussing it.

Interestingly, the same went for me and the Doctor Who series, but know, I know at least three people from school who absolutely adore it. I found myself talking to one about what characters might appear in the 50th anniversary episode the other day. Of course, that was only after I drew her attention to the TARDIS I'd drawn on the whiteboard. xP

Very true.
It is also entirely possible to be active in both worlds, especially now considering the popularity of social media websites.

Rulez, is this "kraków fotografia" in your language? This spambot's message seems to be littered by it although it's attempting to speak in English. What does it mean, other that in probably has the word 'photographic' in it?

I find it funny that the How Active Are You topic is becoming more active and therefore attractive to bots.
---

In other news, still very much active. I check out all the posts I've been posting in and occassionally check the actual forum pages for new content.

PS
Would you actually read a post like that if a real member were to make one, other than inside an RP thread?

Commenting on posts from bots leads to incoherences once they are deleted. Please avoid doing so, or, if really needed, partly quote the message you are referring to.

Kraków is a city in Poland, and fotografia is indeed photography. I faintly remember this bot's message and I believe it was scary gibberish but centered on photographic stuff.

Ok. I thought directly quoting the bots would lead to annoyance, as the reason we get rid of them is because we don't want to see their posts. If I absolutely have to talk about one of their posts again in the future (not very likely), I'll use quotes (cut to the appropriate length, of course).
---

Yes, the post was nonesense, but it did want to advertise some kind of photographic equipment, I believe. It would have been easy enough to find out by following one of its links, but that would be both reckless and giving the bot what it wants.

It's also best not to reply because, in some cases, the bot performance is measured by people talking about the subject of the product it's advertising. And somehow it feels good and correct not to give these bots what they want, however minuscule the value of it is...

Ah, very good point. I'll refrain from mentioning them again, except in an occassional 'what the hell is this thing doing on our forum', maybe.

Haha, well I guess there's nothing wrong with talking generally about the behaviour of bots. It seems a pretty good talking point.
