Re: Earthquake on Chile.
Apparently a resulting tsunami is supposed to hit the east coast of Austrlia (ie where I live) but it seems to have come to nothing.

Terrible, really awful. Good that you're ok though. I just hope that those without homes can recover. So soon after Haiti as well

Re: Earthquake on Chile.
The number of deaths is actually pretty small so far when you consider the strength of the earthquake.
Re: Earthquake on Chile.
I'm really glad that you're okay, Super! But it's a very sad event
Well, fortunately, Chile isn't a really poor country, so it'll be easier to recover.

Re: Earthquake on Chile.
BBC news says the death toll is 300+ now and I just know that's bound to rise. Still keeping my fingers crossed...
@HC: the deadliest earthquake that has ever been occurred in China way back in 1556 and that killed well over 800,000 people.

Re: Earthquake on Chile.
It's strange with all those earthquakes. There has even been a small one in Denmark, and we never have earthquakes. All we can do is hope that it will at least stop for a while.

Re: Earthquake on Chile.
We in the UK apparently had one back a few years ago but I didn't feel it in my area.
Here's a map of the Ring of Fire, some of which stands right on top of Chile. Man I remember learning about this sort of stuff at school.

Be glad that you're alive, and do what you can to help those affected, even if its just those close to you.
Good to hear you're safe.

Wow that is horrible.
Og.
That also reminds me of how there's a huge earthquake overdue for almost exactly where live.

Re: Earthquake on Chile.
Hm, apparently the earthquake was so forceful that it shifted the earth's axis slightly shortening that day by several microseconds...
