I spent a few weekends of free time on hacking various Rayman (and other Ubi Soft) games for the Playstation 1 and I am happy to finally share the results of my work with you all!
I give you my word that all of these codes are my own work.
They were not stolen from anyone else and you won't find them anywhere else on the internet! (With the exception of this thread, of course)
So here are all of my hacks for Rayman 2 and other Playstation 1 games using Rayman 2's engine:

30010004 003DIt's amazingly simple to use:
1. Activate the code for the level of your choice in the main menu or the pause menu of the game.
2. Select the Load Game option and load any of your saved games.
3. The game will load the selected stage instead of loading the Hall Of Doors!
Note that your saved game still determines your progress in the game, so if you use the stage select code and load a saved game in which all the Lums and cages have been found already this will also be the case in the level you loaded with my stage select code.
If you want to play the level as if it were your first time visiting that level you should load a save game in which nothing but the Woods Of Light have been completed! That way all the Lums, cages and boss fights are still available!
(Your magic fist is also as weak as it was at the beginning of the game, so fighting enemies in some of the later levels might be a bit tougher than usual!)
It's also possible to select the New Game option from the main menu to use my stage select code but this will cause your health bar to be glitched for some reason.
There aren't any unused stages available as far as I know.
Things of interest are a second Precipice level which seems to be identical to the normally playable one, the 2D Rayman 2 Prototype and Razorbeards Cabin which only appears in cutscenes normally:

THE WOODS OF LIGHT CODES:
One nasty thing about this game is that most codes are different for each level, so I have to create multiple versions of the same codes for all the levels.
The level names written in red capital letters show you which level the next set of codes is working with.

- The codes below the "Language Select Modifier" allow you to directly set the language of the game to anything you want.
- "Pause Menu Modifier (Save Anywhere)" allows you to save your game from the pause menu while you are playing the Woods Of Light level!
- "Move Camera Up" and "Freeze Camera In Spot" do exactly what they say!
- "Display Empty/Full Healthbar" also does what it says.
(This might actually expand your health bar as if you broke a cage, I am not sure...)
- "Debug Menu (Map Select)" is one of the game's debug features which were almost completely removed from the final game, unfortunately.
It used to open up a special menu in which you could select any of the maps from the game, press the X button and enter that map.
In this version of the game the menu was removed, so if you activate the code no menu will show up pressing X won't do anything either...
I have just included this code for completeness sake and in the hope that there might be a way to re-enable the missing menu somehow.
- "No Clip Mode Debug" is one of the game's debug features which were almost completely removed from the final game, unfortunately.
It used to allow you to fly around the level freely, you could even fly through enemies, objects and behind the map boundaries.

The flying no longer works in this version of the game but you can still zoom the camera in and out and rotate it with the R1 and R2 buttons!
- "Disable Animations Debug" is one of the game's debug features which were almost completely removed from the final game, unfortunately.
This one still works as it used to, even in the final game!
It disables most animations of Rayman, enemies, objects and scenery but does nothing apart from that.
- "Freeze Everything Debug (Press Cross)" is one of the game's debug features which were almost completely removed from the final game, unfortunately.
This one still works as it used to, even in the final game!
Press the X button to freeze all enemies and objects in spot!
- "Moleman 2 The Great Escape" and the codes below cripple Rayman in all kinds of funny ways.
Here's an example:

The rest of the codes following the debugging stuff should be self explanatory.
If there's anything you need to know feel free to ask, ok?

2D PROTOTYPE CODES:

(Yeah, I am the first person ever to hack and release codes for the secret Rayman 2 2D Prototype which is a hidden bonus game in the PSX version of Rayman 2!)
I love Rayman 1! No other 2d platform game I have played so far has managed to get a place as close to my heart as Rayman 1 did.
I am incredibly sad that the 2D version of Rayman 2 was canceled. The short glimpse at the game I got from this playable level made me wish Ubi Soft would finish and release this game someday but we all know that this is not going to happen...
Anyways, at least I was able to take a look at the game's RAM and hack a few codes for it which reveal a couple of hidden features!
So here they are:

30145AB8 0001- "Play Rayman 2 Prototype (Level 1)" or "(Level 2)" are the codes you'll want to use in order to play the 2D prototype without having to beat the final boss every time you want to access it! Using this code is simple, just activate it on the title screen or in the main menu and then select the New Game option!
The game will load the 2D prototype instead of starting a new game!
Don't ask me why there are two levels available. As far as I can tell both codes take you to exactly the same level.
Who knows, perhaps the developers wanted to include two levels at first but decided to scrap one of them for some reason...
(There are actually two different backgrounds for 2d Rayman levels included on the disk and the playable level is named "course2" which further suggests that two levels were planned at one point)
- "Spawn Big Scared Platform" makes a giant platform (one of those scared types which you can grab with your fist) appear in the background at the beginning of the level. You can't interact with it, it doesn't have any collision zone at all!

- "Modified HUD Graphics" glitches the graphics of your HUD.
It makes it look like this:

(I found these unused sprites by messing with the HUD graphics! Looks like the Hunter's gun and the Blue Elf from Rayman 1 were going to appear in this game)
Or like this in some cases:

(A weird screen in screen graphic glitch happened in this case...)
- "1st Item Spawn Modifier Try 1/Try 2" replaces the red P item
(This thing which restores your health completely) on the background layer right at the beginning of the level with other objects. This code is somewhat glitched and does not seem to work correctly with enemies. You can hear them but they are invisible...In my example code it spawns one of those turning blocks:

There are unused enemies and items hidden in the game's code!
Here's a rough list I have created while testing my example code:
Code: Select all
Red Health Item Modifier
30060A60 00??
00 = Fist
12 = Unknown Enemy
15 = Unknown Enemy
1F = Spiky Turn Block
21 = Unknown Enemy
25 = Life Power Up
2C = Unknown Enemy
33 = Moving Spiky Turn Block
3B = Weird Invisible Thing (Makes Game Speed Faster)
40 = Unknown Enemy
45 = Unknown Enemy
54 = Unknown Enemy
5E = Unknown Enemy- The "Health Bar Modifier" allows you to expand your health bar to ridiculously large amounts:

(In theory it is possible to make the Ting counter go up to 99 Tings in this game but this is impossible without hacking because no more than 11 Tings exist in this level and collecting 10 Tings resets the Ting counter to 0 and gives you an extra life. Tings seem to be incredibly rare in this game, that's probably the reason why you only need 10 to get an extra life)
- "Display Collision Zones" activates a debug mode in which the collision zones for all the sprites in the level are displayed on screen as red boxes!
Not really useful to us players but it's still quite interesting to look at and gives you an idea on how some of the game mechanics work behind the scenes!
Here's a shot of how this looks in the game:

- "No Clip Mode" works just as it did in Rayman 1.
You can fly around the level with up, down, left, right and use the X button to move faster.

- "Slippery Jumping" is really weird, it makes it hard to change direction while jumping similar to how Rayman behaved when jumping on slippery ground in Rayman 1. What's even stranger is that you gain some kind of forward thrust if you shoot your fist while in the air.
You can fly over huge parts of the level by using this trick when you are standing on that huge mountain at the beginning of the level.
- "Auto Walking" makes Rayman walk by himself. This might be related to the always running spell effect from Rayman 1, I am not sure...
Rayman 2 The Great Escape Preview (US Version: SLUS-90095)

Setting it to "World Map" allows you to view an interesting "To be continued" screen which is obviously not used in the final game:

(I wonder what level this screen is based on. It looks like it could have been a beta version of "Menhir Hills" or "Gloomy Island", don't you think?)

It places you inside Razorbeard's Cabin and loads a special menu in which you can select any of the maps from the game after the intro movie is has ended!
Use up and down to select a map and press the X button to play it!
- "Skip Intro Movie" does what it says!
It allows you to get rid of that boring intro scene in Razorbeard's Cabin which can't be skipped.

300AA84D 0014Of special interest is the "Pocket Station Download" option which is available from the main menu:

Yes, Rayman 2 on the PSX was going to have Pocket Station support when it was first announced!
Popular game critic website Gamespot even mentioned the Pocket Station support in one of their early previews of the game:
http://www.gamespot.com/ps/action/rayma ... e=previews
Here's an extract of their preview which gives us some details about this lost feature of Rayman 2:
"Another cool addition is PocketStation support. While Sony still hasn't released the peripheral in the US, Ubi Soft is aware that some gamers have imported the device and has implemented the PocketStation support in ways that will actually benefit the player. Instead of just being a half-assed minigame collection, the PocketStation games will let you collect extra lums from the game, and you can even fight some of the game's bosses on the small handheld instead of in the actual game itself. While these options are not essential, for those who have a PocketStation, they provide a pretty cool reason to dust it off."
I do not own a Pocket Station (I didn't even know it existed until I stumbled upon this menu option in this Rayman 2 beta) so if anyone here knows more about this thing sharing your knowledge would be greatly appreciated!
According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PocketStation) the Pocket Station was never released outside of Japan which is most likely the reason why the final version of Rayman 2 no longer supports it.
This Pocket Station thing seems to be a failed piece of hardware similar to Nintendo's 64DD add-on for the N64.
Too bad we are probably never going to find out what exactly you could do in Rayman 2 with the Pocket Station.
(I doubt anybody here owns a Pocket Station but if you do, how about trying to connect it to this Rayman 2 beta to see what happens? It might be worth a try!)
Another funny thing is how badly written some of the English screen texts in this beta were!
Just take a look at this for a laugh:

YES I WANT SAVE!!!
Just kidding...
I am glad that Ubi Soft Shanghai improved on this before shipping the game!
I guess this demo is from a really early build of the game which is far from finished.
The screen texts in other languages are even worse, by the way:

You probably haven't noticed but this is supposed to be French. Yeah, sure...

I don't even know which language this is supposed to be. I guess they were serious with that "Language = OFF" option I could set in this menu!
One last thing, it is actually possible to save your game using the pause menu modifier but you won't be able to load it afterwards.
This is because the game tries to load the "Hall Of Doors" if you load your saved game even tough the "Hall Of Doors" map is not included in this demo so it just shows the "To be continued" screen instead...

300A1C30 0001- "No Clip Mode Debug" is one of the game's debug features which were removed from the final game.
They are working just fine in this demo version!
No Clip Mode allows you to fly around the level freely!
You can even fly through enemies, objects and behind the map boundaries with this feature and nothing can hurt you!

It's also possible to zoom the camera in and out and rotate it with the R1 and R2 buttons in this mode!
- "Disable Animations Debug" is one of the game's debug features which were almost completely removed from the final game.
This one disables most animations of Rayman, enemies, objects and scenery but does nothing apart from that.
- "Object Behaviour Modifier" is really strange!
It messes up the AI of the enemies, making them unable to successfully attack you!
- "Activate Debug Menu (Stage Select)" is one of the game's debug features which were removed from the final game.
It is actually working in this beta demo!

It loads a special menu in which you can select any of the maps from the game and play them!
Use up and down to select a map and press the X button to play it!
The list of maps includes some stuff which is not included in the final game!
I am sure that those were test levels and experimental stages which did not make the final cut...
The first part of the "Tomb Of The Ancients", for example was going to be included originally!
Some very early screenshots of the game from IGN.com show this level in the Playstation version of Rayman 2:
(It looks like they originally wanted to include all levels from the N64 version but were unable to fit them all in in the end...)
They also have a few screenshots in which some debug info is displayed in the upper left corner of the screen:
By the way, the debug info shown in these screenshots is a definite proof that Rayman 2 and Donald Duck Goin' Quackers run on the same engine!
Just compare the debug info between the two games, it's identical:

I couldn't find any unused courses but I have found an unused movie scene!

(Apparently Robo Pirates are "Perverse", lol...)
This is actually the ending movie of the game which is supposed to play after you beat the game to 100%!
However, due to a ridiculously stupid rounding error in the percent completed stat it is technically impossible to complete the game to more than 98.8% which means you'll never get to see this movie if you play the game normally.
I still can't believe how this bug could slip through Ubi Soft's testing department.
Did they play-test this game at all!?
What's also strange is that all levels are in a certain order except for the "Canopy" stage which is the very first in the list of available maps.
Does this have any significance? I remember that "The Canopy" is actually an unfinished beta race track from Rayman M's Bonus League, perhaps it was the very first track they ever created while working on Rayman Rush...
Near the end of the list of available maps are also four maps which I can't get to load in the game.
Perhaps another, 4rd Zone (Zone 3) was actually planned for the game but not finished due to time constraints or some other reason?
Rayman Rush has the most fitting game title ever, this really is a very rushed game. I think the developers wanted to get this thing done as fast as possible.
I still like the game tough, it's no competition to Rayman M but it still manages to be somewhat enjoyable for what it is!

I couldn't find any unused stages in this game...
The only thing of interest is that the two levels from the demo scenes which play if you don't press any buttons on the title screen for a while are actually seperate maps! I thought the game would just load the normal levels for these demo scenes but it looks like the demo stages have their own maps.
I don't know if they have any differences compared to the normal versions of the levels but I somewhat doubt it.
