Interview of Michel Ancel: the fans ask the questions!
Posted: Mon Aug 15, 2011 3:04 pm
by Hunchman801

We at Pirate-Community, the largest Rayman community, are proud to organise an interview of Michel Ancel and the development team of Rayman Origins, thanks to the help of Ubisoft.
• Who asks the questions?
You do. Post all the questions you want to ask Michel Ancel and the development team of Rayman Origins in this topic, and hopefully they will make it to the final interview!
• Who selects the questions?
We do. In order to have a reasonable number of questions chosen and ordered in a coherent way, we will select the best ones and base our interview on them.
• Timeline
You can ask your questions from
August 15 to
August 26. We will then do our best to publish the interview as soon as possible.
• Notes
As nice as it is from Ubisoft and the development team to let us organise the first interview by Rayman fans, they are not going to reveal everything about the game nor to discuss pointless subjects. So, please keep this in mind when choosing your questions and only ask those you think they are likely answer!
Topic en français ici.

1. What was the real reason that so many things were cut from the final version of Rayman 3?
2. Would you prefer a bit more serious setting/plot in a (possible) next Rayman game?
3. Would it be possible to reveal your e-mail adress? I'm pretty sure fans would love to have some contact with you or other devs... :>

OK I've got one.
"As we all know, Betilla the Fairy was replaced by Ly the fairy - what was the motive behind this change, and what was it like to design Ly, from her feline-like (eg. what appear to be cat ears in an early concept art) beginnings to as she was in the final game?"
I still really wanna learn so much about Ly so I guess I'd give that a shot.

There are two questions I'm fascinated in so maybe one of them will be answered.
1. We have seen 3 kinds of Teensy Wizards - blue clothed, orange clothed and black/green clothed. Are they version-dependent or what?
2. In single player (or even multiplayer) is it possible to choose a character you would prefer to play, eg. in single player play as Globox, smiliarly to the newest trailer?

What's up with the different clothing of the Teensies??
We have seen the blue Teensie, the Red one, the black/green one. Will you then be able to play only the blue in Wii, red in PS3, etc. ?

1 - The Plum fruit has been a classical object present in the trilogy of the game series. Will the Plum make a return to Rayman Origins?
2 - In the game's most recent trailers, there are icy levels with fruits. Is this inspired from Tonic Trouble's Glaciar Cocktail?
3 - We noticed that the Teensie Photographer was inspired in Rayman 1's Photographer, that initally worked as a checkpoint. Is there a specific reason for using the Teensie Photographer as the end of the level, instead of the Exit Sign?
4 - We noticed the return of the Lums but we didn't see the Rings or the Purple Lums yet in the game. However, there is a blue smiling creature with arms that always follow the character in its approach. Was this creature designed as a solution for the grappling accuracy problems?
5 - The Lums in Rayman Origins seem to sing in random groups. Are the songs they sing inspired by real musics?
If I remind more questions I'll ask here.

"will there be lots of intresting story telling in R origins? .. or maybe just a intro cutscene and a ending cutscene?"
on side note: i really would like to know more about rayman 1's world, why everything reminds so much of electrons and atoms and what's the "secret" behind raymans white circle. since this is said to be before the first game it just might tell us... depending on the story..

1. Any plans to make another 3D Rayman game?
2. Will other characters from past Rayman games (like Murfy or Magician) appear in Rayman Origins?
