Where does the name originate? —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 18:12, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

I personally don't find it anything related with a vicking... Helmet bird or something close to this would be more suitable. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 20:08, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
I don't know where the 'viking' part came from - I always thought they were soldiers when I played :P --Electoon Fly.png 22:17, 10 January 2012 (GMT)
I have to agree here (and I created the article), they don't look like vikings. However, If you download the picture from the official launch site, it says "VikingBird-info-1.png". Thoughts please--Sergiomonty 22:28, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
Well if the name is official, then it probably should stay! (although I don't trust that launch site....;D) --Electoon Fly.png 22:34, 10 January 2012 (GMT)
Uhm... Now that I check, the website's image names are kind of messy, they refers to the lividstones as "explorers" and soldiers as "ants". The website doesn't seem to be a legit place to adquire official information--Sergiomonty 22:46, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
I don't see what's wrong with either of those names. Livingstones have referred to as 'Explorers' or 'Explorators' as far back as the original game (or at least its spin-offs), and the Soldier is clearly an insect of some sort. (Not to mention that 'soldier' is an actual variety of ant in real life.) —Spiraldoor IconSpiralDoor.png 15:17, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
What are they called in the game textures? —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 12:03, 11 January 2012 (UTC)
They are codenamed "Darkbirds", but that sounds even more unrelated, they aren't dark.--Sergiomonty 16:21, 11 January 2012 (UTC)
The names of the textures are the most 'official' we have though. Whether they make sense or not, I think we should stick to them in the absence of an official name. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 11:37, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
Not at all... in the files the Psychlops and Red birds are named "Janod", and the dragons are named "Alinferno". Darkbird just sounds inappropiate, and possibly is one of these wrong names. I think it's better calling them Helmet Birds (but we can mention the names Viking bird and Dark bird in the article), anyone here agrees?--Sergiomonty 16:01, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
If the texture names are that meaningless, then the website, despite its flaws, is 'the most official we have'. However, Helmet bird sure is a much better name. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 16:37, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
I'm glad people have been liking my suggestion for an alternative name. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 18:37, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
