In [[Rayman 1|the original ''Rayman'' game]], Tings are small blue crystal balls found scattered in large numbers throughout almost every level, often leading [[Rayman]] to a hidden [[cage]] or to safety. Collecting 100 Tings gets [[Rayman]] a bonus [[life]] and resets his Ting count to zero. In [[Rayman (Nintendo DSi)|the Nintendo DSi-Ware version]], only 50 Tings are required for a new [[life]]. If [[Rayman]] loses a [[life]], he also loses all Tings he is currently holding, except in [[Rayman Advance|the Game Boy Advance]] and [[Rayman (Nintendo DSi)|Nintendo DSi-Ware]] versions. They can also be used to open up [[Bonus level (Rayman 1)|bonus levels]]: 10 is enough to pay the [[the Magician]] and enter one of his [[Bonus level (Rayman 1)|bonus levels]]. In ''[[Maths and English with Rayman]]'', [[Betilla]] the Fairy and [[the Magician]] refer to Tings as "'''Bubbles'''" and the manual calls them "'''blue bubbles'''". Only 50 are needed to gain an extra [[life]]; however, this is the only way to get more of them. There are 2273 of them. In some levels, certain Tings cannot be collected, because they lead to wrong answers.

In ''[[Rayman Designer]]'', Tings exist in seven different colours; collecting all Tings of a specific colour will trigger [[Event (Rayman Designer)|events]] if they are connected to either a [[Gendoor|Ting Gendoor]] or a [[Killdoor|Ting Killdoor]]. There is a total of 2400 blue Tings - 100 in each level - and, if all have been collected, the [[Exit sign|exit]] will open up. Of the other six colours, five - purple, green, bronze, silver and gold - are used to open up passages, while red Tings are used to reveal a few extra [[Life|lives]].

In [[Rayman (Game Boy Color)|the Game Boy Color version of ''Rayman'']], Tings play a much larger role in the story. Here, they are revealed to be tiny [[Fairy|fairies]] inside glass spheres. These Tings wake [[Rayman]] up from his slumber at the beginning of the game to warn him of [[Mr Dark]]'s plot, and continue to provide instruction throughout the duration of [[Rayman]]'s adventure. They also grant him new powers at certain points in the game, essentially taking on the role [[Betilla]] the Fairy played in [[Rayman 1|the original version]]. Only 30 Tings are needed to gain an extra [[life]] here, and none are required to enter a [[Bonus level (Rayman 1)|bonus level]]. There are only 1184 Tings in this version of the game.
