They are yellow-orange in colour, and they hurt [[Rayman]] if he touches them, but even at the maximum power of his [[magic fist]], he cannot destroy them. Hitting them will only cause them to fly up briefly before landing, like a [[rat]] in ''[[Rayman 3]].'' This also applies to shots from [[Robo-Pirate]]s.

In [[Rayman 1|the original ''Rayman'' game]], a type of a crab appears with [[Space Mama]] in the credits.

In ''[[Rayman 2]]'', crabs can be found in [[the Sanctuary of Water and Ice]] and [[Whale Bay]]. In the PlayStation version of the game, two other crabs are oddly present in [[Robo-Pirate|pirate]] strongholds in [[the Echoing Caves]].
