"Le Chaos du Cauchemar" page

Le Chaos du Cauchemar - you've forgot to block this one for anymous users. :) — Zu

Thanks man, it's impossible to protect a deleted page so I had to create a redirection. Fucking bots. — Hunchman801 13:11, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

List of the pages attacked by bots

That seems to be more of the pages, which bots "like" for some reason. Maybe we should create a list of them?

  • Together with Le Chaos du Cauchemar and his talk page, this one also was attacked (and still needs to be blocked). It's a talk page of the French main page, as I see... — Zu
Unfortunately, there's not much we can do, except for blocking them when it happens. — Hunchman801 12:23, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
  • They've run out of French pages, so they now use German ones - this is copy of the main site. Needs to be blocked for anymous users... — Zu
Done! Hopefully they'll eventually run out of foreign pages to copy =) — Hunchman801 14:24, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Question

I have wondered about something. Does a contributor must have a special requirement to get an administrator? --Haruka 00:43, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

Well not really, except for a good activity and an impressive history of contributions. You're obviously on a very good way :)
Hunchman801 03:19, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
I see. Thanks for clearing up my doubts. :) --Haruka 13:07, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

Hunch, how can I change my signature, more or less how Stacey has got, or even yours? --Haruka 21:35, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

You can edit it in Special:Preferences. This page should contain all the information you need =) —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 21:50, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
The problem is that I want to use a gif file that isn't in RayWiki, a sparkle to be precise. I can't put it to work here. --Haruka 23:12, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
Why don't you just upload it here? —Spiraldoor 12:56, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
I wasn't sure if I could upload it since it is not Rayman related. --Haruka 13:16, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

Wiki Alliance

Hi, I am an admin from Kid Icarus Wiki. I'd like to know if your wiki is interested in joining a video game wiki alliance. The alliance has the internet's top wikis on Trauma Center, Drawn to Life, Nintendogs, Custom Robo, and Kid Icarus. The main goal of the alliance is to improve each wiki by sharing traffic, sharing ideas, and promoting interlinking. This wiki wouldn't have to give up any rights or anything (you don't even have to link back if you don't want to, though we would appreciate it), all we ask is for someone from this wiki to check out the site every week or two and take part in wiki discussions. Anyway, that's all, just send me a message when you get a chance. Thank you. --Vhehs2

Hi there ;) Looks like a very interesting proposition, unfortunately I do not have time to coordinate such a partnership. If any RayWiki contributor is willing to manage our alliance and serve as the main interlocutor with DAWN, we will be glad to join you! So, anyone here? —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 21:32, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
It's great to know that the wiki shows some interest in the alliance! Would it be out of line for me to post this on the main page's talk page? People may have a better chance seeing it over there. --Vhehs2 22:41, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
Please feel free to do so! —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 14:29, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

Photos

Howdy Hunch, I thought I could consider as a picture of Rayman 2, but it seems I cannot. Everytime we're talking about photographs, is just description and photographs category, correct? --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 21:09, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi Haruka, don't bother using the Image template for anything but game screenshots, there is much important work to do. The 'game' field of the said template and the associated categories are only for screenshots; if you are to upload photographs, just classify them as such. And don't worry, you did a great job uploading these pictures. ;) —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 21:24, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
OK then, and thank you. I thought the photos would be very useful knowing the high rarity level of the collection. I'll integrate them in the correspondent articles now. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 22:00, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Quotes

I've noticed that the Super Mario wiki has got pages dedicated to quotes of different games.

I thought we could do the same, I think it would be particulary useful. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 13:27, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

It would be good if we implemented a proper quote template system first, like the one Wikipedia has. —Spiraldoor IconSpiralDoor.png 20:43, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
Can you show me an example? --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 21:13, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:QuoteSpiraldoor IconSpiralDoor.png 21:52, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
I see. But SMWiki doesn't use that system. They organize it like this: http://www.mariowiki.com/List_of_Quotes_in_Super_Smash_Bros._Brawl --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 12:48, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
Both a quote template and a list of quotes are an excellent idea. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 13:50, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
I'm glad you like the idea Hunch, but how can we do then? With or without the quote system of Wikipedia? --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 20:46, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

Eyefish

EyeFish.png

If you ask me, I think we need a clearer shot of this. I believe the PSX version of the game has translucent water, so you can clearly see the fish. --iHeckler9Life.gif 13:35, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

I totally agree with you, but it was the best shot I could get out of dozens of pictures; those are incredibly hard to get a sight of. An additional snapshot from the PlayStation version would be great though, as it would both illustrate the translucent water you're talking about (I don't remember it though) and the fish itself. In any case, the original file is not to be replaced; no need to stick to one picture only. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 13:50, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

Table cell

Can you explain me better about it? --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 21:42, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Of course! The following code creates a new line in the table:
|- |
Since Rayman 2 level articles are based on tables (one line (which is also one cell since there's only one row) per version), you simply have to put the external links in an additional cell which will prevent them from being displayed in the PS2 or GBC section. You may want to read this in order to learn more about tables: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Tables
Keep up the good work! —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 21:47, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
I see, it is quite annoying when the texts/pictures are placed in non-harmonious ways and "aglutinated" with other data. Thanks for clearing up my doubt :). I will also not forget about ordering the links by version. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 22:08, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Media

I've been thinking about a slight improvement that the Raywiki could have.

What about the ability to include small audio players? For listening a character quote, a jingle, or even a background music of a level?

I don't find the video player necessary since YouTube already does a better job. What do you think? --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 17:43, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Excellent idea, Haruka! I for one agree. --iHeckler9Life.gif 18:15, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
Sonic Retro's wiki used to have that, but recently they had to take down the whole audio system due to bandwidth issues. So as much as I'd like to have audio here, I wouldn't want it to suck the bandwidth out of the site and slow it down to a crawl. --RKartHead.gif StaceyW 19:28, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
Fair enough. I would like to know Hunch's opinion too. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 19:46, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
Background music from a level is covered by the RayTunes section of the site. But I like the idea for the other parts though :) --Shukaku 12:30, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

Wrong info about Rayman Origins

Hey Hunch I saw some wrong information about Rayman Origins, for ex. There are 246 cages in Rayman Origins... - Cage arcticle; or - If the players die they return to there where they last destroyed a cage. - Rayman Origins arcticle. Do you have any idea how to put real informations instead of wrongs at the first time the users editing? I just ask you because fixing them lately is a bit harder. Anyway you shall announce Rayman Origins at the main page, so users may upload more information about it. --Icon.png Rayrobi 15:39, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Haha cool it and I'll do the math: we know it's 246 Electoons but let me count the cages ok and I'll fix it. Sheeeeesh. --Cairnie 17:20, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Images

I took screenshots of the images from high quality recordings of Rayman Origins gameplay. Some of it was fuzzy when seen in fullscreen mode however so that's why I reduced the image sizes. I can fix them if you wish. --Teensiedragonkaiser 15:11, 20 March 2012 (CET)

What's the version you are playing? For HD consoles the recommended resolution is 1920x1080 (guys correct me if I'm wrong) in JPG format. The more nitid pictures the merrier. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 16:07, 20 March 2012 (CET)
Haruka, the images were taken from videos.
Thanks for your reply, Teensiedragonkaiser. It is very important for us to know which version of the game (PS3, 360, etc.) the footage comes from. Is this information available for those videos?
In any case, we only take snapshots from videos in the last resort, if there are no other possibilities. This is not the case for Origins, with the PC version now available and the Wii version fully functional on the emulator Dolphin: both can be used to take suitable screenshots. Do you have any of these? —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 18:08, 20 March 2012 (CET)
The screenshots were from the PS3 version. Sorry for any trouble this caused. --Teensiedragonkaiser 00:37, 21 March 2012 (CET)
It's cool, no worries. Do you have either the PC version (that would be the demo right now though) or Dolphin set up with the Wii version of the game? This way you would be able to take nice snapshots yourself. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 14:18, 21 March 2012 (CET)
Not at the moment I'm afraid. Where can I find the demo of Rayman Origins on the PC? --Teensiedragonkaiser 15:23, 22 March 2012 (CET)
You can create an account in STEAM and downloading from there. But first you need to download the STEAM software, before you can do anything. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 15:52, 22 March 2012 (CET)

Crash

Howdy Hunch, sorry to bother you but I believe with the RPC crash, the post where you told me which images were in need of replacement was lost. Could you repeat please? I also know you want general screenshots for Rayman 3's articles. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 14:50, 28 March 2012 (CEST)

Videos

Hiya! http://deadrising.wikia.com/wiki/Ray_Sullivan#Trivia In this page, at the far right, there's a clickable image that allows you to view an image. I was wondering if we can implement it on this wiki with Haruka's help perhaps? --iHeckler9Life.gif 20:37, 16 April 2012 (CEST)

I suggested this before, but Hunch said it would consume the server or something. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 00:27, 17 April 2012 (CEST)
I am not in favour of YouTube embedding, and your example proves my point as the video was apparently removed (at least in my country). If we are to embed videos, we will have to host them ourselves. I'll probably look into this soon, but the main question remains whether it would really be useful. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 10:25, 17 April 2012 (CEST)

Hi Jempli! Thanks for your interest in the Hungarian wiki.
Managing a pool of wikis in different languages is a bit tricky. You can easily change your language to Hungarian in your preferences (link top-right of the screen), but this will also change it on the other versions of RayWiki. What I could do is override the user's choice on each wiki, forcing Hungarian on the Hungarian wiki and English on the English wiki, but I'm not sure whether it's a good idea. I'll look into it and get back to you later.

RO Screenshots

Howdy! I have got a doubt: is it ok if I take screenshots of Rayman Origins at 1280x1024 resolution (with the removal of the black stripes)? My display is a 5:4 and not a 16:9 so I'm asking. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 17:25, 24 November 2012 (CET)

Shouldn't it be 16:9 without the black stripes? —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 18:07, 24 November 2012 (CET)
Yes but I was thinking if you only wanted the screenshots in the 1920x1080 resolution instead of an inferior one. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 23:56, 24 November 2012 (CET)
1280×720 is all right, even though 1920×1080 is better when availaible. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 17:23, 25 November 2012 (CET)

Rayman Arena Screenshots

Howdy, Hunch!

I have a question, since I want to take screenshots of Nintendo GameCube's Rayman Arena. Which resolution shall the screenshots have? Its to make sure before uploading. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 22:26, 29 January 2013 (CET)

Hi Haruka! I believe the native resolution for the GameCube is 640×480. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 23:33, 4 February 2013 (CET)
As I expected. In that case some screenshots might appear in the meantime. :) --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 13:17, 5 February 2013 (CET)

What's up with the login/registration system?

Have you noticed it too? I can't log in from any browser other than this one for some reason, and I noticed that there's no more option to create user accounts. This is greatly hindering the development of this wiki! Do you know what is happening? Mahboi (talk) 02:34, 6 December 2013 (CET)

Thanks for reporting the missing registration link, it most likely disappeared after the software was updated. I'm not sure what the issue with the log in is though, could you please be more specific? —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 11:55, 9 December 2013 (CET)
Well, if I'm logged out, there is no option to a new user profile on the top-right of the page, which is the red flag. Whenever I try to log in, it fails with "You have not specified a valid username", though I enter my username properly, without extra spaces or capitals. Thus I can only edit the wiki using Chrome on Windows 7, using Boot Camp on my MacBook, and I'm worried that once the cookies expire, I'll have no way in. Mahboi (talk) 06:43, 10 December 2013 (CET)
I checked the log in function and it works fine for me. Are you definitely using the same credentials as on the forum? —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 10:56, 10 December 2013 (CET)

Howdy, sorry for the lapse but I want to ensure I don't mistake again. PNG is just for GBC/GBA games, right? --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 00:45, 12 March 2014 (CET)

Hi, there, it's all in the Help:Image page. ;) —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 11:19, 12 March 2014 (CET)

Integrating RayTunes and RaySaves

I think I made mention of such an idea a few weeks back, but I can't recall if we ever came up with a method or means of doing so, any thoughts? --Sig5 2TEST.png 23:27, 27 April 2014 (CEST)

Multiupload

We discussed this a while back, but now that I'm free, I'd like to just briefly inquire if you've got any specific plans regarding Multiple File Uploading rights. I've still got a bunch of Fiesta Run screenshots I've yet to upload, and it's only going to get larger, thanks to the recent update. --Sig5 2TEST.png 23:53, 24 June 2014 (CEST)

I got WikiEditor set up, though I still need to think about MultiUpload. You're still going to have to convert all of those images to JPEGs and add the templates and categories to each of them, is it really going to save a lot of time? —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 15:53, 25 June 2014 (CEST)
I've been able to batch convert the rest of the files. As for time saving, being able to have them all put on at once rather than having to continuously click back onto the upload form per upload, locate the next file and then repeat for a good 50 times or so could save me a few minutes at minimum. I know I've got to fill in the details after that, but having them all on, I can just do a copy and paste job, while modifying the relevant detail. --Sig5 2TEST.png 16:31, 25 June 2014 (CEST)
Curiosity, will MultiUpload allow you to upload each image into the appropriate category they belong to? Example, if several images needed to go to multiple places. --Hoodcom-WikiSigsmall.png 17:15, 25 June 2014 (CEST)
I'm not entirely sure, but the content I've got on stand-by for batch upload are of like category anyways, I doubt a scenario where one would need the ability to have a large amount of categories to upload to would be common anyways, let alone the unique situation I'm in with the rest of the Fiesta Run screencaps. --Sig5 2TEST.png 01:46, 28 August 2014 (CEST)

File upload error

Starting from quite recently I haven' been able to upload any images as I keep getting this error: The file you uploaded seems to be empty. This might be due to a typo in the filename. Please check whether you really want to upload this file. I've tried several other images, which I'e uploaded before, and the same thing happens then. --Carrot-master (talk) 11:30, 24 March 2016 (UTC) Never mind, it works now.--Carrot-master (talk) 19:23, 24 March 2016 (UTC)

Howdy Humch,

Looking at the “Recent changes” page, why did you edit Vector.css if I may ask?

Is a RayWiki redesign coming?
Fifo (talk) 15:50, 29 March 2016 (UTC)

Thank you so much for a reply. However the current style still has the pre-2013 colours. Why not at least change Monobook’s colours to match PC’s 2013 forum style?
Fifo (talk) 19:36, 30 March 2016 (UTC)
It's already planned, just a matter of time! :D —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 15:43, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

class=sprite

Hey! What does "class=sprite" change on an image exactly, and when should it be used? I noticed you edited it in on a bunch of images I've added. --Carrot signature.png 06:40, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

Hey, it's a CSS class that allows screenshots from sprite-based games to remain neat on higher dppx devices (devices using several physical pixels per virtual pixel e.g. most modern smartphones or Retina MacBooks). Without the class, a smooth resizing algorithm is used, which makes those pictures look blurry. Thanks for reminding me that I need to add an entry about it in our image guidelines, will do ASAP! —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 21:44, 14 February 2017 (UTC)

Link clarification

Hey, and sorry for asking about link again, but I'm still slightly confused on when to use them and not. In the forums you said that you should link the words with articles on the wiki every time they showed up. However, in the manual of style there's an example which shows a paragraph of text where the reoccurring words (like Ly and Betilla) are only linked in the first instance. Also, should headings be linked or not? Pretty much every article seems to do this differently. The manual of style states that links should be used "unless it is in a section title." I assume that means it should not be used in heading then, and the cases where that is done are incorrect? --Carrot signature.png 07:15, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

Hi there! Well the manual of style was wrong then, I've just updated it with a correct example. As for headings, I have no strong opinion on the matter, maybe we could have a discussion on the forum about this to see what people think?—RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 09:50, 27 June 2017 (UTC)

NIWA

Hello there! I'm thinking of nominating RayWiki for NIWA-affiliate on their forums, but I want to know what you guys think of it first. --Raltseye prata med mej 21:42, 26 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi, can you please elaborate as to what NIWA is and how it works? Thanks! —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 15:53, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
NIWA is an acronym of Nintendo Independant Wiki Alliance, and is an alliance of independant Nintendo wikis. We are also, appart from having fully-fledged members, affiliated with several other sites not necessarily directly Nintendo related, including Wikisimpsons, Wikimon, Doom Wiki etc. Link to our home page (with our affiliates to the right). I believe RayWiki fits this description perfectly. --Raltseye prata med mej 16:12, 30 March 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply, that's a nice community you have here. What does an affiliation partnership consist of and how is it different from a full membership? —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 17:44, 9 April 2018 (UTC)
Being a member you have to be a Nintendo wiki, but being an affiliate means having your wiki highlighted in the sidebar. --Raltseye prata med mej 10:32, 12 April 2018 (UTC)

Helpful Links Widget

Hey! There was recently a discussion regarding making the sandbox page easier to find in which I suggested having an extra 'widget' on the home page for useful links. I made a draft you can check out here. What do you think about that idea? --Carrot signature.png 21:07, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

File Upload Limit

Hey! Since the latest RayWiki update I can't seem to be able to upload images with a size higher than 2 mb. This is a problem for a lot of my high resolution screenshots which I've now have had to compress. Is this an intentional decision, and if so, what course of action should I take with files above the limit? --Carrot signature.png 20:39, 13 October 2018 (CEST)

Hi, thanks letting me know. It's not intentional at all, I must simply have forgotten to change the default config on the new server. I'll fix it ASAP, how does 10 MB sound like? —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 19:42, 14 October 2018 (CEST)
Should be good now. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 20:44, 14 October 2018 (CEST)
10 should be fine, but it's still showing 2 as max. I tried hard refreshing the page, but no change. --Carrot signature.png 21:03, 14 October 2018 (CEST)
My bad, the server is making it complicated for me to change a simple config value. I checked this time and it shows the correct value, let me know if you're still having issues though. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 10:48, 15 October 2018 (CEST)
Working now for 8 mb, which should be fine. I re-uploaded my previously compressed images in full quality now. Thanks! --Carrot signature.png 11:02, 15 October 2018 (CEST)
Thanks too Hunch, I had the same problem and I thought it was a feature of the new version of the RayWiki. --Boomboleros7 23:24, 15 October 2018 (CEST)
Sorry for the hassle, that would have been a very bad new feature indeed! —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 10:48, 16 October 2018 (CEST)

Flat stone

Hey Hunch, I've just recently created the flat stone article in the Hungarian wiki too, but the title is wrong. Can you fix the title so that it doesn't say "Lapos szikla" but "Lapos kő"? Thanks. --Magician hat Origins.pngAaron 15:54, 6 March 2019 (CET)

Sure, it's done now! —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 23:05, 6 March 2019 (CET)

About images in RayWiki

Alright, well, I wasn't sure to ask this here or at Help:Image, but with most of the images here at RayWiki, if the image wasn't taken from PC, you can't tell if it's the image that someone took from their TV screen or not. And if the image indeed wasn't taken from PC, then how can people make their images look so great and smooth and everything like if you didn't actually take it from your TV screen (so it doesn't appear like you did). How do you do that? I'm only asking because I wanna help contribute to the Hungarian version of the Rayman M article by adding an image from the PS2 version. --Magician hat Origins.pngAaron 22:17, 23 March 2019 (CET)

(First, sorry for jumping in and answering Hunch's talk page, but as someone who's been in this situation before I have something to add) There are basically three options you have to take screenshots from a console:
  • Emulator - this is the most common method. Make sure you don't have any scaling options on or run the game in a different resolution than the original.
  • Native screenshot feature - modern consoles, such as PS4, Switch etc., have native screenshot features. Most of the time they give a high quality screenshot (although sometimes it gets compressed).
  • Video output - some TV's support video output from which you may be able to use some device to get a screenshot. The quality might not be so great doing this, although that depends on how it's done and which connection is being used.
And definitely do not take the image from a camera pointed at your TV. No matter how good it'll end up it will be far from ideal due to lightning and reflections. Usually emulation is the best option in these situations. --Carrot signature.png 09:29, 24 March 2019 (CET)
Oh, I see. Well, I don't have any emulators as I only have the physical copies of games that run on the console, but I'll keep the video output in mind and I'll see what I can do, thanks. --Magician hat Origins.pngAaron 09:38, 24 March 2019 (CET)
Carrot's pretty much nailed it, I'll just add that some modern 'smart' TVs also have built-in screenshot features but you'd have to watch out for upscaling. Anyway, emulation is what I would recommend in your case (PS2), and it's perfectly legal since you actually own the console and the games. You may want to check the emulation thread for more information on how to get your game running. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 17:13, 24 March 2019 (CET)

Mr. Dark and The Magician locked indefinitely? Isn't it a little excessive?

Hunchman, with all due respect of course, don't you think is a little excessive to lock Mr. Dark and The Magician articles indefinitely just because of one or max. two jerky user(s) who can't even properly explain with a valid and coherent reason why they don't want an edit to be made? Purple bubble (talk) 21:56, 26 September 2023 (CEST)

Both articles appear to be the stage of edit warring, that is, users repeatedly overriding each other's contributions. With no one actively striving to reach consensus, it is clear that this situation will persist, and that locking the articles in question is necessary to prevent further pollution of the revision history.
In this context, please allow me to stress the collaborative nature of this encyclopedia. You find yourself in a situation where three different users, each with a commendable contribution history, happen to strongly disagree with some of your changes. You don't find their reasons good enough, but surely, you must have realized that they happen to think the very same about yours. I, for my part, must agree that you'll have to do better than brandishing unsourced claims of interactions with Ubisoft staff. This is why a more structured discussion is now necessary, and I very much doubt that calling your fellow editors "jerky" and other nonconstructive diatribes will be of much help to that effect.
To put things in perspective, I cannot for the life of me remember another case of edit warring on this wiki during its fifteen years of existence. This speaks volumes to the amount of controversy surrounding some of your changes.
Therefore, and with a quick resolution of the situation in mind, the next steps will be as follows:
  • Purple bubble is to create, for each of the following 7 topics, which I believe comprehensively cover the nature of the contributions currently subject to controversy, a distinct section in the talk page of the relevant article, explaining why the change in question should be made, and providing sources where applicable:
    • Mr Dark: trivia
    • The Magician: mention of Andrew as a cousin, "but only in a spin-off" (also applicable to this revision)
    • The Magician: mention of "Ales Mansay" as an official name
    • The Magician: mention of "Dark Teensy" as an official name
    • The Magician: mention of "Mr Dark" as an official name
    • The Magician: trivia 1 - mention of the Magician as "a mix of the previous main antagonists of the series"
    • The Magician: trivia 2 - mention of the use of the scrapped name "Ales Mansay" by a substantial portion ("many") of the fanbase
  • Once this is done, discussions will begin, and contributors will be invited to freely debate about the validity of those additions.
  • Finally, a voting process will follow. It will start independently for each issue after 7 days have passed without any addition to the discussion, or if the discussion has been going on for more than 30 days. In order to prevent the use of sockpuppets, only accounts with prior wiki or forum contribution history at the time of the introduction of the changes will be eligible to vote. The voting process will end, independently for each issue, after 7 days have passed since the last vote, unless it results in a tie, in which case additional votes will be required. The decision will be final, and users not respecting it will be liable to a ban.
I have done everything I could to provide you guys with the best framework for a constructive, collaborative and efficient resolution of the problem. Now is the time to do your part. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 01:22, 27 September 2023 (CEST)
I, at least, have given pretty detailed reasons for the edits, unlike the others who justified the edit warring by practically saying "I don't want it and I don't need to give any clear reason for that", and that's not something I easily accept as an explanation. Also, I opened the way for a dialogue here, now where are they? It's clear they don't want to discuss. Purple bubble (talk) 02:14, 27 September 2023 (CEST)
Repeating ad nauseam that your reasons are better than theirs is a waste of your time, and mine. Please adopt constructive behavior and follow the above instructions, which have been designed for a quick resolution of the various issues being discussed. I have no doubt that people will chime in in due time, but for now, the way you have grouped all subjects into one section is confusing and not fit for debating. I will now stop replying to this thread and only continue the discussion in the talk page sections you are to create for each issue.RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 12:25, 27 September 2023 (CEST)
The problem here is not that my reasons are better than theirs, the problem here is that I gave reasons for the edits and they didn't give any, and still they didn't present themselves to the discussion I started here to find a solution or a compromise, and I opened it even in the two talk pages of the respective articles, still nothing, and I find this too very disrespectful and a waste of time for everybody. Anyway, although I strongly disagree, what if I promise not to restore those same edits that apparently are problematic for ambiguous or unknown reasons? I don't want the other users and editors to pay the consequences for a stupid and senseless edit war. Purple bubble (talk) 12:36, 27 September 2023 (CEST)
I can unlock the articles if you commit to not making changes outside of the resolution process described above. Also, please advise on whether you intend to follow said process; I still do not see any changes to this end. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 11:41, 28 September 2023 (CEST)
Deal (although it still annoys me that none of the other edit warring users showed the decency to give a sign of themselves and didn't get a warning). Purple bubble (talk) 14:05, 28 September 2023 (CEST)
Done. As for your remark, it is not reasonable to expect people to chime in if you do not start yourself by developing your arguments in a more structured manner, as detailed above. Speaking of which, I reiterate: do you intend to follow those instructions, or do you prefer to close the debate now? In the spirit of putting an end to this waste of time for everyone, if your answer is not unequivocally "yes", I will take it as a no and close the subject for good. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 15:20, 28 September 2023 (CEST)
I said deal, yes. What I expected was just for people to give an explanation for reverting the work of others and not just going away or at the very best leaving vague and ambiguous responses, and maybe presenting themselves to discuss a topic they were involved in too, I even invited them to discuss on my own talk page but nothing, I was the only one here and I was the only one who proposed a solution, it's just a matter of basic respect, for me and for the community, I didn't and don't ask much. Also, I was expecting for other people to be held accountable, since I was the only one who was scolded. You can't blame me for being annoyed by this. Purple bubble (talk) 20:34, 28 September 2023 (CEST)
Because the above instructions have yet to be acted upon, despite the positive answer, the resolution process is now canceled and the debate closed. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 20:29, 30 September 2023 (CEST)

Thank button

Hey, can't there be a function to thank people for an edit? Like the thank button on other wikis for immediate thanks post-edits? :) Purple bubble (talk) 02:17, 1 November 2023 (CET)

Hi there! We have a packed backlog of new features and fixes to implement but I'll be sure to look into this as soon as I have a bit of time. :) —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 23:58, 3 November 2023 (CET)

Rayman M/Arena/Rush racecourse description

Hello! I'd like to ask you about a new, bit more systematic approach to the descriptions of racecoruses that I came up with today. An example of one for Big Bang:

start/finish line > long corridor full of dash boards and explosive barrels; a bumper and a climbing wall leading to an upper alternative path on the left with a sliding section and a Purple Lum > left turn; end of alternative path on the right > narrow room with a red mud-like surface, two platforms above > climbing wall with falling kegs > turn left; narrow corridor with rolling kegs > huge hall with red mud floor and bumpers on it; an alternative upper path with thin spinning platform high in the air blocked by a box > main path contains dash boards and a switch that allows to move the fences ahead; alternate upper path on the left ends with a sliding slope; alternate upper path on the right (access via a bumper) consists of dash boards and fences > start of a wide and long sliding section; alternate path on the right ends with a sliding slope with three explosive barrels > left turn, sliding section continuous, two big pillars in the middle > left turn; the sliding path features a huge number of explosive barrels; bumper in the middle of the slope, followed by a Purple Lum that allows for acces to an alternate path on the right > end of the sliding section > left turn; a bumper on the left allows to reach upper platforms on the left; the switch below retracts said platforms and moves fences on the altrenative right upper path > start/finish line

I'd like to add sth like that to every standard race track description. What do you think? Is it okay, or is it too much? Also, sorry for the high resolution of the latest Rayman Arena screenshots - I can't set up the proper native resolution in my program without all the textures glitching out. - Fussilli (talk) 14:12, 10 March 2024 (CET)

Hi there! I like this idea, but maybe it would look better in a table rather than in a large paragraph separated by chevrons? As for the latest images, I think they're fine; at least, it's consistent in that they're the same dimensions so it looks like nothing has been cropped. Thanks! —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 18:12, 10 March 2024 (CET)
Great! Do you maybe have an idea how this table would look like? I've never been good with creating templates etc., so I doubt that I could make one :c - Fussilli (talk) 18:20, 10 March 2024 (CET)
Sure! A simple layout could look like this:
Layout
A
B
C
And for branching sections, maybe the following could help?
Layout
A
B1 B2
C
Let me know what you think! —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 19:32, 11 March 2024 (CET)
Ooh, I like that! I'll prepare a test layout table for Big Bang based on your idea as soon as I'll be able to. - Fussilli (talk) 19:47, 11 March 2024 (CET)
