Blue mosquitoes are a species of flying insects only depicted in the artbook The Art of Rayman Origins and a mosaic in the PlayStation Vita version of Rayman Origins.

They are also mentioned in the manual for Rayman Origins and in Red Globox's description in Rayman Legends, Rayman Adventures, and Rayman Mini (though the third game is the only one that references them by name). They are a smaller variety of giant mosquitoes with blue skin, purple eyes, and stingers on their backs that can inject venom into their victims, producing a bluish-purple boil on their skin.

The artwork tells the story of how a swarm of those blue, venomous mosquitoes referred to by the Red Wizards as “bubeastubies” (which means “beasties” in Ubbi Dubbi) stung Globox when he was young, and the venom from the stings sept into his skin, turning him the blue color that he is today. This story is also mentioned in Red Globox's description in Rayman Mini.
The artwork tells the story of how Globox became blue. Before the incident, his skin was a red color similar to that of the Red Wizards (implying that he may have been one at some point). One day, the young Globox was eating the fruit of a "blubue buberruby bubush" (which means "blueberry bush" in Ubbi Dubbi); unbeknownst to him, this particular bush was home to a blue mosquito. Mistaking the eye for a berry, Globox attempted to take the eye off of the mosquito. When that did not work, he ate the blue mosquito whole, prompting it to cry for help from his stomach. Answering the call was an entire swarm of blue mosquitoes that chased Globox and stung him at once, covering him in blue boils. Globox would heal from the attack, but the venom from the blue mosquitoes would seep into his skin and permanently turn him the blue color that he is today. According to the aforementioned set of unused subtitles for Globox's mosaic, the inhabitants of the Glade learned a valuable lesson that day: "always beat a buberruby bubush before stuffing one's belly..."

However, the manual for Rayman Origins presents this story as only one possible explanation as to why Globox became blue, one told by the Red Wizards, and states that the Teensies favor a different story involving the drinking of plum juice.
