His name is a portmanteau of “[[Rayman]]” and “nemesis”.

Raymesis' appearance is very similar to that of [[Rayman]], but with different colouration. He has glowing yellow eyes, a purple tongue, purple-grey skin, purple hair, cyan hood and shoes, light blue gloves, and a dark blue shirt. From ''[[Rayman Legends]]'' onwards, his eyes are orange, except in duck form, in which they are yellow like in ''[[Rayman Origins]]''.

The [[Polokus|Bubble Dreamer]] suggests that he was created by [[Mr Dark]] – this is one of the game's few references to [[Rayman 1|the original ''Rayman'']] [[Bad Rayman|antagonist]]. It is unclear whether the [[Polokus|Bubble Dreamer]] confuses Raymesis with [[Bad Rayman]] or simply makes a joke about their resemblance (he looks almost identical to [[Rayman]]'s evil clone created by [[Mr Dark]] in [[Rayman 1|the original game]]), or if the two are linked in some other way, even them being the same character. In the Nintendo 3DS version, he also refers to Raymesis as DarkRay:

 

Raymesis is part of the three characters available in the downloadable content of ''[[Rayman Jungle Run]]'', along with [[Globox]] and [[Raybox]]. He is called "Dark Rayman" in this game.

Raymesis appears as a skin for [[Rayman]] in the fighting game ''[[Brawlhalla]]''. He was introduced in patch 3.32 and can be purchased for 140 Mammoth Coins. He fights with the [[Psychlops]] Gauntlets and the Devious Axe.
