Name
How do you know that The Swamp Monster is called Eig? Can someone please tell me?! - Evil Rayman
- He is called Eig in The Knowledge of the World. Iheckler9 13:21, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
- iHeckler is right. Jano's name is revealed in the GBA/N-GAGE version of Rayman 3 so it is more likely that the swamp monster's name is Eig. --Haruka 14:35, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
Three eyes
I'm counting two on his face, am I the only one? —![]()

- Nope. There's 1 eye in the middle of his forehead and the other two are on the back of his head. Iheckler9 10:52, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- In RR he has got only two eyes I think... in the others he has got more? --Haruka 12:23, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- Judging by the picture he has three. The shining ones and the cycloptic one. I haven't played the others, but their pictures tell the same story. And I found out that spiraldoor himself wrote the bit about four eyes. Iheckler9 13:24, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- As you can clearly see in this image, Eig has two eyes on his face, although they are joined like the eyes of many cartoon characters. Two more glowing eyes can be seen on the ends of the stalks protruding from the back of his head; he often uses these in a periscope-like fashion while the rest of him is submerged. —Spiraldoor 14:18, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- Hold on, are you saying that his "antennas" are also eyes? Making 4 eyes at total? I was convinced that those spheres seen out of water when he was submerged worked as a bait to his prays, like the Deep Sea Fishes. --Haruka 14:32, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- That looks like a piece of promo art, probably changed to make him look scarier in the actual game. In that image he looks goofier while in the Knowledge of the World it says he was 'a ferocious swamp monster'. Iheckler9 14:48, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, I think you're right. The deep-sea fish you're referring to are called an angler fish, and Eig does indeed resemble them. There's actually a moment near the start of the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava in the Dreamcast version, where you find Eig's orbs protruding from the swamp water – as soon as you approach them, he surges up out of the water, as if he was using the orbs to attract bait. I always assumed that they were eyes because of the way he moves underwater – the orbs are always above the surface, as if he was using them to see where he was going. —Spiraldoor 14:57, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- I never assumed the spheres being eyes you know. I find more likely to those orbs have the same functions of the angler fish. --Haruka 15:00, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- I have updated the page with the relevant information. —Spiraldoor 15:04, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

Status
It looks like the debate about Eig's eyes is settled, but I just noticed that he is listed in the 'Enemy' categories, why is that? To me, he looks quite pacific. —![]()

- I thought it was YOU who called him pacific in the first place...He does hurt Rayman, so maybe he should stay an enemy. Iheckler9 19:08, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- But Eig doesn't attack Rayman directly. Only if Rayman goes against him. Eig is pacific. --Haruka 19:12, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- I can't remember, does Rayman die when he touches Eig or does touching Eig just cause him to lose his grip on Sssssam's scarf? If it's the latter, then he probably shouldn't be categorised as an enemy. —Spiraldoor 20:43, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

Another edit reply
I believe in those "mysterious blue sparks" being nothing more nothing less than the Eig swallowing air to his mouth and lungs. Like this the effects represent the wind. --
