==Description==
Boss Chenille looks just like a normal [[caterpillar]], but with some significant differences: whereas they are a purplish-black in colour, Boss Chenille is blood-red; Boss Chenille is also somewhat larger, and it eyes are identical to the [[baby caterpillar]]s' ones.
Boss Chenille is found in a room in [[the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava]] (whose name is switched with that of [[Beneath the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava]] in this version). Boss Chenille is summoned by Rayman performing a [[Rain Mask|rain dance]] on what looks like a greyish version of one of the [[Magic Sphere]]s' bases. When this is done, it emits a beam of light towards another such base. When Rayman [[shot|shoots]] it, it too emits a beam of light towards another base. After shooting several more bases, the beam of light has finished its circumnavigation of the chamber; a door opens, and Boss Chenille enters. The first clue as to Boss Chenille's identity is its name; ''Chenille'' is the French word for ''Caterpillar'', while the name ''Boss'' implies that it may possibly be their leader. It is unknown why Boss Chenille appears in this particular level, but it is possible that it serves as a guardian to the entrance of the Sanctuary. It could also be possible that Boss Chenille has made a home in the Sanctuary and is simply defending its territory.

Boss Chenille also makes an appearance as a minor enemy in the [[Ray-Type Challenge]], the last of [[Ly]]'s minigames. In this challenge, Boss Chenille's body is composed of fifteen segments, and it rotates in a circular pattern. Each segment must be shot repeatedly by [[Rayman]]'s [[flying shell]] in order to destroy it; a single destroyed segment yields 50 points, while defeating an entire Boss Chenille yields an additional bonus of 1,500 points. There is no limit to the amount of Boss Chenilles that can be encountered in this minigame.
Boss Chenille's purpose, apart from attacking [[Rayman]] at the entrance to the [[Sanctuary of Rock and Lava]], remains unknown. Boss Chenille is a character that only appears once and no information about it can be found. Some suggest that Boss Chenille is the leader or mother of the [[caterpillar]]s, considering its outstanding appearance and strength. Some consider it possible that Chenille and the caterpillars originated as one of [[Polokus]]'s nightmares in [[the Cave of Bad Dreams]].

* Boss Chenille is the only boss in any version of Rayman 2 to not be a pirate (or creation of the pirates) but to still be apparently fully evil. The four guardians and to a slightly lesser extent [[Jano]] were acting under Polukus' orders, whilst [[Clark]] was being controlled.
