There had been brief gameplay clips of the original Rayman 4 prior to the change shown, and it could be seen that costumes would've been used similarly to the [[Laser Washing Powder|powers]] seen in [[Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc]]. Some of the concepts seen were applied to Rayman Raving Rabbids as well. For example, in one minigame in Rayman Raving Rabbids, Rayman must throw a cow attached to a chain a certain distance by spinning in place in a circular motion. The Rock Costume in the original Rayman 4 was seen to also have Rayman swinging a chain in a circular motion as in the minigame, though using it as an attack instead.

Some fans hope that Ubisoft will one day release this version but with different enemies instead of the Rabbids. The Rabbids have gained a somewhat negative look with veterans of the series due to the focus on the sub-series without another Rayman action title in the near future.
