A port of the original Rayman was being developed for Sega's 32X add-on for the Sega Genesis before quietly being shelved. This port was one of two planned ports that were cancelled, the other being a port to the 3DO. It was mentioned in magazines in the first half of 1995, as well as in promotional material for the original Rayman touting it as one of five ports Ubisoft had planned for the at-the-time next generation of gaming consoles. The port and the Atari Jaguar version would be slated for release of June 1995. However, both 32X and 3DO ports would end up getting cancelled.

Although it is unknown how far along the 32X port got before its ultimate cancellation, it did get far enough that it was given its own booth at E3 1995. This is the only confirmed gameplay of the 32X build that has been found.

The most noticeable feature in this port is that the background has two unique layers of artwork with parallax scrolling that are not seen in any other versions of the game.

The 32X port was mentioned in several previews, mostly in French gaming magazine publications. However, the game has shown to be in very early stages, not having a finished background present in the only screenshot. It is noted in an interview in Mega Force magazine that the game would be based on the Atari Jaguar version, thus making it a near identical port. A small preview mentioning the port was published in the "Next Wave" section of Electronic Monthly Gaming issue 69.

The port was also mentioned in promotional posters for Rayman, with the planned release date and in conjunction with the PC, Playstation, 3DO and Sega Saturn versions. While, 3DO was seemingly dropped after the first promotion. The mentions of the 32X port would be shown in second poster before silently getting cancelled. Reasons for cancellation are unknown.
